I moved here from San Francisco with my 2 4-​legged boys. Of course I turned to Unilocal for a doggie day care (Davies Doggie Day Care). Gaye Davies referred me to Tammy at Seattle Dog Spa. My pooches smelled like the 3 day drive and hotel stays. I couldn’t wait to get them in to see Tammy. They emerged happy and beautified. Thanks Tammy and see you soon

I’ve been taking my dogs (3) here for years even before she moved to this new location. I’ve recommended this groomer to my friends as well. Tami the owner is not only a dog lover (she has 5 dogs that she brings to work with her!) but a talented groomer. My dogs have been to big name brand groomers and depending upon the groomers some have not done a good job grooming. When Tami closed for an emergency I brought my Pomeranian to Petsmart and when I picked him up he cried every time I touched him or picked him up. The groomer there was rough handed with my senior 8yr old dog and totally did horrible hack job on his beautiful Pomeranian fur. That was the last straw and have stuck to Tami ever since. I will follow her wherever she goes ! Her shop is convenient on Rainier and has plenty of parking. It’s clean and her hours are flexible even open on Sundays! She made it convenient to book online on her website as well as calls you back promptly if you leave a message on her business phone. She will also take walk-​ins for a quick nail clip $ 15. I’ve taken my Pomeranian, Pomsky and Bischon Shitzu to her dog salon. Her prices are comparable to other groomers but she treats your dogs like her own. I highly recommend her and love her cheerful personality as well as her love for her rescue dogs!

Previous groomers that have worked on our dog from this establishment have done an excellent job and were great with customer service. They said our boy did a good job, although a little skiddish. The owner stated to us last time we were there she has lost staff so we’ve had to deal directly with her. We can roll with change, but the cake topper is we’ve found her to be quite rude, inflexible and bossy-​telling us how we were wrong about what our vet told us about our dogs skin condition, changing our appointment time last minute and then refusing to see our dog when we were late after we told her it was not convenient for us but we would try to accommodate her. We had never been late before.
This week we were told by the owner she no longer grooms «big dogs» after several of her staff have groomed our dog for over a year, and have never mentioned any problems. When calling the voicemail she states return calls will be made within 24 hours. We called for over a week before we received a phone call to inform us of this apparent change, which sounds highly suspicious. Honesty, kindness and promptness would have gone a long way.
So if you have a «big dog» this is not the place for you, as apparently she no longer takes them.

I usually just do walk-​in appointments here for my old man’s nail trims. They do a good job and it’s really quick. I’ve also had bathing done here and they’ve done a fine job each time. I’m totally content with their services and my dog doesn’t stress out when I bring him here, so that’s a huge bonus for me. They also remember my dog by name even if they don’t necessarily remember me, which I also like. They know who the real customer is. :) I find their prices to be okay for the simple services I need, and the customer service to be mostly good.

Groomer wears industrial hearing protection, should your dog do the same?
Terrible experience! My dog’s usual groomer was fully booked for a few more weeks so I decided to try out the Dog Spa of Seattle. About 2.5 hours after I had dropped my dog off I received a call from the receptionist saying that I should hurry over to pick up my dog as he was acting up and could not be controlled. When I arrived, the groomer had left and the receptionist rudely (one hand on her hip no less) informed me that my toy poodle was very difficult and could not be controlled. I found this extremely hard to believe as my 15 yo poodle (who has the mildest nature) has been to groomers all throughout his life and this is the first time I had heard anything close to this. I asked to see my dog and he was half groomed and in a mess with short hair on the body and long hair on the front! I was then asked to pay for the full amount of $ 70! I was also told by the receptionist very unprofessionally that my dog «could have died» on the grooming table! Omg I have no idea what they could do on a grooming table to kill a dog!
I have worked with animals all my life in veterinary hospitals and the most basic requirement of any nurse or vet is to be able to handle animals safely and competently.
I also noticed something I have never seen before at any other groomers– the staff were wearing industrial ear muffs. I have no idea what equipment that they use to warrant this and can only imagine how traumatic this must be for dogs given their much more acute sense of hearing.
Unfortunately– rude reception staff with a bad attitude, groomer can’t competently manage a small dog and the fact they tried to make me pay full price for a half completed job-​quite dishonest indeed!

After trying three different unsuccessful dog groomers for our doodle, we are so happy with our groomer at the Dog Spa. The price was reasonable and our dog can be a brat but they handled him well and even gave us suggestions to make it easier next time. He also was happy after the cut which had not been the case previously.

Scrappy-​monster was very happy with her grooming! She can be a little testy sometimes, especially around her feet, but she said that even her toe nails being ground were a breeze. Her usual place is muttley crew cuts, but they were full, so she decided to try something new… it was a great choice! She looks and smells beautiful!

Since we had such a good experience the last time at the Dog Spa of Seattle we returned when our cat rolled in bark and got a bunch of mats. I looked at the prices online and it appeared that the price would be $ 65 for the grooming. When my husband took our cat in for his appointment he was told that the charge would be at least $ 120 and possibly more. When my husband asked how much more he was told they didn’t know as it would depend on the amount of work. So, we were evidently supposed to pay whatever figure they came up with. So, well be looking for somewhere else to have our cat groomed from now on.

I have taken my labradoodle here since he was 5 months old. I’m always nervous that he will come back looking like a poodle, but he never does. He always comes back perfect! They are super friendly there, and the salon is always tidy and clean. We can’t bear to take him anywhere else, as he always looks so good. We get many compliments on how he looks and alot of inquiries on where we get him groomed because he looks so good! Great groomer and Tammy is super nice!

The new location is a huge improvement!

Tammy n staff always deliver when shes due, and has never been cuter. The new location is tops, good barking,(lol) food next door, they ate right on with all different breeds too!

Caring, accommodating and friendly! Every two weeks for the past four years, we’ve taken our two high-​maintenance pups to The Dog Spa for nail trims. The first few times we brought in our 90-​lb rescue mutt, he climbed the walls — literally. Tammi, Jessica and team were SO patient. They made him feel comfortable and safe, and eased my dog-​parent embarrassment. After a half-​dozen visits, he turned a corner. It’s now one of his most favorite places to go, and they’ve made our pet care chore a joy!

This address is no longer correct for them — they used to be inside A Dogs Life. We day care our two Malamutes there and would occasionally have the Dog Spa do a grooming etc. I have NEVER come away from dealing with them feeling satisfied about the work done. Its all just OK. Dog Mania up on Mt Baker literally puts them to shame — true they are a tad more expensive but my boy comes out ready to go on show. Cant say that for Dog Spa — they never have done their nails properly, the de-​shed seems very half assed. The worst part is the always seem very dis-​organized and very apathetic to any concerns. I wouldn’t recommend it and put it like this since they have moved I have not seeked them out to see where they went.

I can say NEVER go to this place or I will never go back again. I went to this place based on some of the ratings for this place. I can say that the people that gave it 3 stars or less were right on. I can’t believe how unprofessional these people were and I’m questioning where the positive reviews come from. Here is my experience: I had 3 dogs and as soon as we walked in we noticed how run down the place actually is. one of the girls came to get all of the dogs– not knowing which dog it was especially since I had special things that I wanted for all of the dogs. I finally said a little loudly that I would like for them to stop and let me talk about what I want for my dogs. She slowed down and I was able to talk to Jessica in detail what I wanted. My friend was really concerned because there was no interaction with the dogs and no one said anything kind or even tried to comfort the dogs. From their behavior, I could see that my dogs didn’t want to be there. I found Jessica to be nice and I asked her to explain price and what is included in each price. It seems to me that they nickel and dime you for everything that they do. There are extra charges for other things that I wasn’t used to so I wanted to make sure I understood what they were going to do at what price especially since what we talked about on the phone is different than what was quoted to me on the phone. Once the girl took the dogs I continued to talk to Jessica and while I was filling out the forms I can hear the girl in the back speaking rudely and loudly, saying to one of the dogs to stop it. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!!! First thing, my dogs are like my kids and I never want anyone to talk to my girls like that. In addition, my dogs are from shelters so they are nervous or skiddish when it comes to bathing. I told Jessica that I can hear her and I never want her talking to my dogs like that. When I came back I noticed that they closed the door this time and that the same girl was a little aggressive with a black lab.
So I was worried the whole time that I was waiting for my dogs. I was praying that they didn’t do anything bad to my dogs. I should have followed my instincts and left with my dogs but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I wanted to give them a chance and not overreact. When we got there one of the ladies came out to tell us verbally how much we should pay, no paper as to what was done no receipts. The price was higher than what was discussed. I told her that I needed a receipt so that I could see what she was charging us for. Of course, the amount was wrong. I couldn’t believe it she came out with a scratch piece of paper with everything written out in pencil. It was so unprofessional. I looked at the prices and told her where she was over charging me and she actually started arguing with me. She told me that I was wrong and I told her that the actual price was listed on the board behind her. At this point I just wanted my dogs. I asked to see my dogs so that I could see what they did with my dogs and she refused. I asked for Jessica to come out so that I can talk to her about what we discuss, she said that she was busy. Jessica was looking right at me and I could see her through the glass wall. All I can say if you are too busy to talk to your customers or to provide some sort of customer service then you don’t need my business. This went on for at least 45 minutes. She was extremely rude and just continued to argue with me. Finally she gave me a printed receipt, now she overcharged me by $ 5 but she gave me that amount in cash after I pointed it out. The situation was horrible. Not only were my dogs (I watched other dogs being handled aggressively and yelled at) treated badly but I was given such a horrible experience that I would never go back there. Well this business missed out on over $ 400 a month and no referrals. I’m going back to Petsmart. When they finally brought my dogs to me I noticed that they did not cut the hairs on the back end on one of my dogs (around her butt). I pointed it out to her and she said they charged extra to cut the hairs on that area. WHAT THE??? Who wants their dog to have long hair around the butt area and why does that require a special type of cut? By the way I bought the face, feet and fanny package but I was told I had to pay extra to cut the hairs around that area. At that point I wanted to get out of there so I didn’t say anything. Also I have to mention that they glued some type of jewelry on my dogs ears. I never heard of anyone doing that or was told about it. It was so difficult to take that stone off of their ears and it hurt my dogs. Why don’t I glue a stone to their skin and pull it off so that they can see how it feels? It took days to get it off. I will never go back there.

My dog, Penny, has become a regular here for nail clipping, which is a drop in service. Sometimes, we have to wait to be waited on (there is only one receptionist for three services (dog beauty, u wash dog, and doggy day care), but it is always a friendly wait.
Penny is a big girl with a massive head and the folks are not intimidated by her size, her head, or a her breed. Jessica, who has always worked on Penny, is patient and Penny is getting more and more used to having her feet touched and clipped.
Penny has recently developed a need for anal gland treatment, and I scheduled a fanny, face, and feet treatment. Penny was returned all happy and clean smelling, but Jessica couldn’t get at the anal glands, which were in a weird spot. We’ll schedule another appointment periodically for the bath, but we’ll still need to schedule the anal gland treatment at the doctor’s office.
I have another friend who takes her pittie here, and she is able to get the full treatment. She also only has good things to say about the Dog Spa.

I have a ‘difficult’ Shiba. I took her here today for a nail trim and they did a great job. This is going to be a regular stop (and it’s nice to have the store across the hall to grab a treat for her!)

Ever since they had employee turnover and another location change I have been anything but impresses!

To be clear, THIS is the groomer that is located inside of «A Dog’s Life» Doggie Daycare. There is another spot on Unilocal that is called The Dog Spa, with the same address, but it has reviews from before this location opened.
On the one hand I like that I can drop in with my dog to have his nails done. On the other hand, they have NO POSTED HOURS and the owner is kind of a jerk. I called to schedule an appointment to have my dog’s nails done, was told they don’t schedule for that but that I could drop in anytime. But, when I did so, I was told that they weren’t open yet (THERE ARE NO POSTED HOURS, it’s 10 AM and you’re in the grooming area, with the lights on, with a dog… HUH?!) and that they wouldn’t have time for me because it was only her working today. Luckily for me the kind woman who was working the doggie day care told me she would do my dogs nails, and she did.
The next time I came by, and I had pretty much written them off but its the closest place to me and my dog hates to be in the car so…, the assistant was VERY accommodating and friendly. The only uncomfortable part of that visit was when the owner came by and started yelling at her assistant. Really unprofessional lady!
But, they are local, my dog loves the assistant and they’re in my price range so, I’m liking it!

I would be very cautious about taking your dog here. I have taken my siberian husky to the dog spa and when I picked him up he seemed rattled and had eye mucus flowing from his eyes for the rest of the day. However, it was not until my knowledge of several people in the neighborhood and their terrible experiences that I was horrified. A dog’s eye retina was sliced open by a groomer and another dog contracted a liver infection from bacteria at the dog spa. DO NOT GO HERE.

It wasn’t always this way.
From the very first weeks of puppy-​hood my doggie’s been going to the groomer. Every 5 weeks it was the same thing: barking and snarling; biting the hand that brushed her; desperate escape attempts.
Tammy, the owner and most patient woman on the planet, has for years assured me that my dog is not her worst dog. I don’t believe her but do appreciate the lie.
Today my doggie got a mud wrap and full body massage — hey, I did say it was a spa, right? Now before you go all judgmental, or just plain mental, demanding to know why I would pay for a doggie mud wrap, know this: it was a free service.
I know. Right? Free is my favorite price.
But I am so pleased with my calm doggie that I may pay for a doggie mud wrap in the future! Actual real money.
Seriously. I’m that happy and my doggie is that happy.
