The Furniture Guy Consignment

So, Joey, the owner, called me half a dozen times about my review. I finally spoke with him and he said that was absolutely not their policy. He had no idea why the guy there said it was. He offered to give me the full selling price of the table.
I said, those were the terms on your paperwork. The guy said the opposite of what you are saying now. I feel like you are trying to buy me off with still ¹⁄₃ the value of the table.
He offered to mail the check. I said I would text him my address. I never did. I did not feel comfortable giving him my home address.
I came in today because I was picking up checks from the delightful Armadillo Consignment next door (well worth the 40 minute drive).
The guy did not know how to use the computer. He looked up my name three times and cut me off when I tried to help. Finally I would not let him cut me off and said, «you need to check the box next to my name for it to select.» Oh.
He searches for the check three times in between pointless calls to the owner. He refuses to call the owner back. I said, the check may be somewhere else. Can you please call Joey and tell him this is for the Ethan Allen coffee table. He says the owner won’t know anything about that.
This whole process took 15 agonizing and frustrating minutes. I am so upset I cannot even tell the story articulately.

Love this shop, very unique items at completely reasonable prices.
I didn’t even feel the need to sage my newly purchased dresser. Save yourself some time and go directly to The Furniture Guy!

I recently purchased an «Italian writing desk» in two toned wood (dark and light) and an original painting here (watercolor on silk) and had a great experience.
The young man helping us was very helpful and friendly and even took an offer I made on the desk after consulting the owner on the phone. They also agreed to store the desk until I can pick it up in a few weeks at no charge which is very nice and convenient for me.
The store is not very large but has a lot of furniture and other household items and decorations tucked away all throughout the store.
It’s a beautiful store with lots of treasures. Just my kind of place. We looked around for about a half an hour and I could have spent much more time here. Much of the furniture was attractive and in good shape and the prices were reasonable.
I’m disappointed I hadn’t visited before as I’ve driven by hundreds of times. Their sister store is Ballard Consignment.
No returns on any items so buy carefully!

Worst furniture purchase ever!!!
My wife purchased a dresser from them. When it was delivered we noticed that all the drawers did not open and close properly.
We contacted the owner and he said that we must have broke it and he wouldn’t refund the $ 400 we paid for it. We never used the dresser… we did not break it.
Finally we got him to take it back on consignment. He said if he doesn’t sell it he will give it to goodwill. Even if he did sell it we’d only get half our money back.
To date we haven’t heard from him. We wasted $ 400 at this store for absolutely nothing!
Bottom line-​make sure you are absolutely sure of the item you are buying as there is NO customer service after they TAKE your money!
In response to Joey’s remarks. You are a flat out LIAR!
When we bought the dresser at your store we did not open and close all the drawers and wrongly assumed you would not sell a piece of crap dresser. Obviously we were wrong as the dresser drawers would not close properly upon delivery.
You are a manipulating thief
I don’t care if you give a 10% discount for calling me names (nice business practice by the way), I just want your customers to know if they pay 90% of the purchase price for crap, it’s still crap.
By the way, if you would have done the right thing and refunded us for the broken dresser it would have been cheaper than the business you lost due to this review.

I love affordable consignment shops with a variety of interesting things for sell. The Furniture Guy is one of them. I didn’t detect any strange smells, which is a huge plus for a consignment store.
The store is on the smaller side, but they manage to pack in a lot of furniture and wall art. They also had some unique lamps and light fixtures.
As you might guess from the store name, this isn’t the place to go for clothes or accessories.
I didn’t find anything on my first visit, but I’ll be back.

I brought in a solid maple rocking chair in August. When I went to check on it a couple of weeks later, the owner looked it up and told me it sold right away for $ 95 and my check for half that would be available on September 3^rd.
When I called in September to see if my check was ready, the same guy told me the chair had sold for $ 70 and he would send me the check for $ 35.
When I told him that he had already looked the sale up in my presence and told me I was due 50%, which would have been $ 47.50, he claimed he made a mistake.
I know this guy owes me $ 12.50, but he says my contract stated he could sell it for whatever he chose to (true) and didn’t have a record of sale to prove what he says.
REALLY?
The owner saw this review and called me. He cut me a check for what the employee told me when I first checked on my chair — $ 12.50. He claims he’ll be letting the employee who screwed up go, which I think is rather harsh, but at least he went out of his way to make it good for me, so I’ll at least shop there again.

Good prices on consigned furniture. Some of it was basic and not hard to find elsewhere, some of it was unique, like a sideboard/​record player.
Good to try.

I worked with them on selling several items when I downsized. I was originally very impressed and happy with them— they were willing to take many things and almost everything I consigned sold quickly. However, it turns out their bookkeeping is less than stellar. When the first item got ‘lost’, I worked with them to resolve the issue, choosing to give them the benefit of the doubt. When I didn’t get paid for a second sale «due to the software» and felt compelled to address it, the relationship soured.
I agree that you find great stuff there, but keep very careful track of your consignments and keep good records, because they don’t. I suspect that they make a lot of money off consignors that aren’t keeping good track who entrust their items to this local business.
Also read the contract carefully… what is good for a shopper (e.g., quick negotiation) is not good for the consignor. It depends on how desperate you are to get any amount for your own goods. I won’t be going back.

I always drive past this store and never have time to go in. A Couple days ago I was in the area and had some free time, thought I would check it out since they did a nice job with the outside. I walked in and the inside was well thought out. The inside is large and has a large selection of furniture, lamps and shelves full of collectibles and evrything was nicely put together, not all messy and hard to walk around. The lady there was very pleasent and greeted me when I walked in and asked if I was looking for anything,(I was just killing time) but said no thanks. I also notice the inside had many lights on, nobody likes to walk in a dark store (well I don’t) makes it look like they don’t want you to see what your buying. I actually found a nice tile table there. I did need one, the price was already reasonable at $ 120, but it doesn’t hurt to ask for a discount. I offered $ 100 and she thought for a couple seconds and said she would take that price. My overall experience was very nice.
I would ignore Tammy W, review. Not many owners will call you if you had a bad experience in there store and grant her a discount. The whole review sounds strange and really just wasted a minute out of my life reading it. When I have time I always check back to see if they have any new treasures.

Stopped in here for the first time last weekend and couldn’t be more impressed! They have a wide variety of furniture, funky finds, and collectables. The sales staff wasn’t pushy, but available and knowledgeable when I did have questions. I recommend this store for treasure seekers like me, or anyone looking for unique and high quality furniture items!

They have some of the most unique furniture and eclectic items! I ended up purchasing an awesome coffee table and a new solid wood dresser for the wife (she loves it!). They also do consignments and I have since been back to sell a few things of my own. The owner works with you on the pricing and goes ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ with you on the profits –beats waiting for deadbeats to show up from craigslist. I recommend he Furniture Guy to everybody!!!

Perfect addition to the Seattle used furniture scene. This store has a wide selection of furniture and household items, and always something new to tempt me when I stop in. The prices are reasonable, the quality is great, and the owners and staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the items they sell. This has become one of my favorite stops when looking to add to, or change a look in a room.

I live in the Broadview neighborhood and shop at «Armadillo Consignment» next to «The Furniture Guy». Curious and excited — I went to browse soon after they opened. Wow — was I impressed! The store feels cozy and was well organized. The stock of furniture and furnishings were clean and well cared for. The sales person was friendly, knowledgeable, super helpful, and kind. I was looking at a pair of armchairs, and the salesperson made suggestions about the type of table and pillows that would complement the set. Very nice atmosphere and service. Keep up the good work!

Great store! Cheap prices and a large selection of home furniture and décor. I bought a coffee maker and cute desk. Friendly staff. Would recommend highly!
