The Overlook At Westridge Apartments

I live here in a top floor apartment with a fantastic view of city lights at night. My small dog loves the dog park. I like the fact all my clothes fit in the closet and I can have a normal size couch and dining room set, not child size like the new apartments being built. I do pay for a carport because I want to have a space when I come home late at night. This is the city after all, and it is alot cheaper than the new apartments!

Living here was a series of massive disappointments. As the other reviewers have indicated, parking is a nightmare and property management doesn’t care, nor will they act to enforce resident-​only parking unless it’s the over-​priced covered parking on which they make a mint. They do nothing to dissuade people’s pets pooping wherever they want, even if you tell them whose dog it was and when. Their response to a noise complaint, which according to their own lease literature includes being able to hear anything happening inside the apartment outside, is to say «we don’t deal with that, we encourage you to talk to your neighbors» or, at their very best, a passive-​aggressive email sent to the entire building.
Through either gross incompetence, absolute apathy, or active malice the property management also can’t manage to dispatch repair workers in anything resembling a timely fashion, any community maintenance project will be delayed for months and months because they’re too cheap to hire reliable third party contractors.
None of that even covers how terrible the apartments are! Paper-​thin walls, cheap barely functional appliances, such terrible layouts that not even every kitchen cabinet is useable because the side door knob prevents them from opening properly. The interiors have been maintained to the lowest standard with massive numbers of defects and poorly patched holes in the walls. You’re effectively also in the sticks so cell service is terrible and ISP choices are limited to a hole in the head or two holes in the head. This was a terrible introduction to living in Seattle and it might put some people off living in this city entirely.
Tl;dr: DON’T LIVE HERE!

The location of the complex is great if one is looking for a country lifestyle. There is even a horse farm across the street for the full country charm.
The complex itself is well maintained and fits in well with the bucolic environs.
This is a great complex if one desires these things and one has a dog. There are many great trails to the east of the complex as well as West Crest dog park.
Like living in the country, however, nothing is nearby. The nearest grocery store is a fifteen-​minute drive away, and there are no coffee shops or convenience marts within a mile.
Bus service to this location is spotty at best. There were several times where the bus was a half hour late (and the 131 only runs every half hour)
The location preferences someone has will drive whether or not this is a good location for them.
After moving out I did a thorough cleaning of the place hoping to lessen the amount of money withheld from my deposit as I had another friend get taken to the cleaners by them a couple months back. While I realize that local law requires that an apartment be cleaned by a licensed and bonded cleaning service, in other complexes this cleaning is taken care of by the non-​refundable component of the deposit. Not so here.
In the end the low rent at Overlook resulted in me only getting $ 267 of the $ 1100 in deposits. If you choose to rent here just go into it with the expectation that your security deposit will not be returned

If i could give zero stars, I would! I HATE THIS PLACE! I lived at the overlook for 3 years in all. First of all, although it looks nice, the apartment was built VERY cheaply, and you can hear someone breathing in the other room. Parking situation was horrible! If you got home after 6pm you pretty much are SOL when it comes to parking. But that is not why I hate this place. Upon move out, i was told by the manager to not worry about cleaning, that they hire a professional cleaners. 2 weeks later, i get a bill in the mail from them for over 2,000 dollars! Because I didn’t take the proper precautions like, taking pictures or doing the walk threw with them, I set up a payment plan to pay them 200 every month. Well last week I got a letter in the mail saying that I did not follow protocol and that they sent my account to collections. WHAT??? I made my first payment in December and was just about to pay for January and they say I’m pass due? I tried calling the offices every day for a week, leaving messages saying to call me back. Finally i decided to go down to the office and talk to them myself. What do I get? NOTHING! Turns out, they got my messages and just decided to not to call me back. Pam was absolutely rude to me, and told me she wouldn’t talk to me about it. Well let me just say this. I lived in these apartments for 3 years and NEVER gave them trouble. I was a great tenant who payed my overpriced rent on time every month, I didn’t get any complaints, and this is how you treat me??? So please, learn from my mistakes! Do not move into this place. The rent is WAY over priced, (I am now living in a 3 bedroom house for less than what i was paying at the overlook), the neighborhood is sketchy, all the «amenities» are a JOKE, and they treat you like —-.

We have been here for slightly over a month and don’t have any complaints. Everything that i needed help with, the staff were very helpful and are always happy to assist you. Maintenance guys are always busy at keeping up with making the place look clean and organized.

It’s The Overlook at Westridge. There is no «B» in there (if someone can fix, that might help)
Lived there for a year in a top-​floor 2 bedroom. It was recently remodeled when we moved in early ’08. Granite counters, SS appliances (although cheap ones), nice cabinetry, w/​d in unit. We liked it very much. Although the rent is a little high for the area, ours was $ 1400.
The location is very good if you’re working downtown, but don’t take the bus (riding through SODO sucks and takes an hour). The landscaping is well taken care of, the maintenance is good and the front office worked well with us. We paid rent late one time and they let it go after a little convincing (else would have received a higher rating). Parking can also be a pain. And when it snows, you’ll miss work because of the Kenyon St. hill.
The neighborhood I guess can be a little sketchy, but we never had any problems. Although White Center is close and it can be hard to tell if it’s approaching or receeding. The community is gated though. The little mart across the way is good for occasional supplies, and Westwood Center is close by, and if you keep going West on Henderson? there’s a great little fruit/​vegetable tent stand in summer (much better than the grocery stores). Also close proximity to California & Alki (both great).
After move out I think we got half our deposit back. Seemed pretty fair to me (our cats trashed the carpet) and they didn’t know we had them. If you do admit to having pets, they want like $ 400. Kind of steep. No problem, just lie.
All in all it’s a pretty good place actually. If you’re not afraid to explore West Seattle you’ll definitely grow to love the area. We would have stayed but we wanted to buy and couldn’t afford in West Seattle.

Before I moved here, it was described to me by the leasing manager as live moving «over the rainbow.» If by «over the rainbow» she meant «a craptacular place to live,» then she was spot-​on.
I lived here for not quite a year, and it wasn’t that bad while I was living there. Not the greatest place to live, but it wasn’t a sketchy place either.
When I moved out, they charged through the nose for «excessive cleaning» (even though I left the apartment in better condition than it was when I moved in) and various other completely absurd charges. I fought them and got them reduced, but it took threatening legal action and demanding seeing receipts for all the services.
I read a little online about this complex, and it has a reputation for charging excessive fees upon move-​out, and the management… don’t even get me going except to say «flaky» and «unresponsive.» Do a little research on this place, if you’re thinking of living there. If you read a positive review, it is, in all likelihood, written by the management.
