Tully’s Coffee

Me and my gf came here about 3 months ago. Enjoyed a nice walk together and decided to head to Tully’s Coffee. We’ve never really had the worst customer service until we came were.
As customers you would at least expect to be greeted in a nice manor.
Instead I we got RUDE RUDE RUDE.

This is a friendly Tullys. The staff is excellent. It has some comfortable chairs for lounging around. It’s across the street from where I work, so we go here often. The coffee is pretty decent, but nothing to write home about.

A nice little café that can be a welcome respite from the rain. I ordered a smoothie which tasted reasonable, if not a little ice-​y. There is free wifi and plenty of places to sit and use your laptop, although not too many wall outlets to charge it. The wifi itself was easy to use (just a redirect and a ToS, no password, no purchase necessary) albeit a little spotty at times (had to reconnect more than once). When raining and cold it can get a little crowded but the staff is quick and friendly and there was plenty of room.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I go to school down the street at Gary Manuel AVEDA Institute, and i come her practically every morning that I have class.
BOBBY is theeeee BEST EVER! He always makes my day by being attentive to every single visit, and he remembers my complicated drink preference as well as making each experience worth coming every morning before class.
Bobby is one of the reason’s why I will not get coffee before my hour commute from Everett, just so I can enjoy a quality beverage as well as the service as a whole.
*I havent been to a Starbucks since i’ve started going to Tully’s on Capital Hill!!!

I tried to like this place, I really did but it just does not do it for me. Having worked in fast food/​customer service based jobs I know how it is to be on both sides of that register.
After a long day of working I was craving an Italian soda, so I figured I’d stop by Tully’s on my way home and get one. It was 6 mins. until closing so I called and begged them not to close too early so that I could get my fix. The barista and I had a pleasant conversation and I had to walk him thru how to make my drink (strike one). I told him I was stuck at the light but I was near. I get into the store and not only was I NOT greeted but the barista shouts out «hey you the one that ordered that italian soda?» yes, thanks for the announcement. Bad news follows, «oh hey i just checked and were all out of san pellegrino, sorry for not telling you on the phone.» (strike two). I was devastated because I was really wanting that damn italian soda, Tully’s has it on the menu but it is disgusting because they use like tonic or something weird and its crazy expensive… yeah no thanks.
I WAS VISIBLY upset and they were just about to let me leave with out making any suggestions or offering to make me a different drink. WTF! So in one last attempt to get that freaking drink I offered to go across the street and buy a san pellegrino if they’d make it for me, BEFORE I could finish my sentence the barista was shaking his head like «no sorry, not gonna happen we close in like a min. sorry sweetie». wait what??? did you forget the CUSTOMER SERVICE portion of your job description? (strike three).
I have a lot of patience for restaurants and such because I know how crazy and hectic things can become, but the service I received was ridiculous. This would have been a prime opportunity to go above and beyond customer expectations. I will never go back to this Tully’s or any other Tully’s. Im sticking to my Starbucks.
Word to the wise: Improve your customer service training… and your italian soda recipe.

The team at this Tully’s is GREAT!!! I work a block away and even though there’s actually another shop that’s closer, I won’t go anywhere else for coffee when I’m in the neighborhood.

185 Tullys walk into a bar. Bartender says, «We don’t serve Tullys here.» The Tullys say, «Who do you think we are? Starbucks?»
As the terrible joke hints, Tully is the «other» coffee chain here in Seattle. Everyone knows Seattle is the coffee place. Starbucks got it’s start here and it was famous for its local coffee even before the evil corporation got its start. Tully is a big name here that goes against the grain of Starbucks.
I stopped in after a wonderful dinner at Quinn’s in Capitol Hill for a warm drink. I must say, this place is right on par with the spirit of Seattle cuisine — exploratory, inventive, and creative. I’ve never heard of «Madagascar Latte» but it sounded like something I might want to try. I had my reservations about the Sumatra coffee beans before and ended up loving it. For now, however, after a wild meal at Quinn’s, I decided to play it safe and went for the Chai Latte.
Compared with the Starbucks brew, subjectively I think it’s better. The highly distinct flavor of chai was slightly more robust and that jus slightly made me enjoy this latte more.
Tully also carries the lattes, the mochas, the espressos that we are all used to seeing at a standard coffee joints. While I won’t go for those run of the mill choices, I will return to try the Madagascar before I leave this town.

If you want to start your day fabulously and hipster free, I’d recommend either Tully’s or Kaladi. But this Tully’s has a leg up over Kaladi in that the location is better for me to watch for my bus to work. The coffee is usually good, and the one time it wasn’t it was remade quickly and without me having to worry I got decaf or had some bodily fluid added (which I often worry about at more local and hipster staffed cafes). Baristas are nice, and remember to keep my drink not a scalding degree. And they’re really nice when I’m still running on early morning autopilot.

Great corner location on Pike and Broadway, cool vintage building, the staff are ALWAYS friendly and welcoming. I usually have my free morning coffee at the office, but when I feel like a small splurge I choose to buy my $ 4 nonfat latte at this shop rather than Starbucks, Caffe Vita or any of the other coffee joints in the neighborhood.

This place is usually very crowded and loud so don’t even think about coming around lunch time to do any of your intensive work. The coffee was mediocre and was kind of bland. Perhaps more syrup? I would prefer my coffee at Starbucks instead.
Followed by two overtly zealous barrista who kept pressuring me to buy or try their desserts when I really didn’t have time. Very weird. Were they slow on selling desserts?

Awesome location (great for people watching, free street parking all day on Sundays, pedestrian to a million things) and period architecture (a lot of the old building features remain — check out the ceiling and the splendalicious front door.
Baristas are happy and provide service with a smile. Yummy assortment of pastries. Free wi-​fi with multiple electricity ports. Clean bathroom. Tidy store. I like Tully’s coffee so I’m good to go here.

For Corporate Coffee, it isn’t horrible. It isn’t the best in the city, but you will will have no problems finishing your normal coffee drink. Not bitter, not burnt, not acidic, etc — although I’ve always found it a little flat, like something is missing but I can live without it. Which is good, because if you’re stuck in the block or so radius this Tullys is located in, your options are limited.
Staff can be hit or miss. The lovely counter girl today was a win, and hearing her talk to her fellow barista about how a good «next level latte making class» would be a great thing at least makes me think they care. Other staff I’ve had to put up with in the past were a little too loud with their discussions on «who’s cute», and «guess what so-​and-​so did at the club» (actual conversations, I swear), half-​heartedly sparing me a few moments to take my order and misspell my name on the cup.
Love the environment, winter or summer; I see the chairs and tables are back up outside so Spring must officially be here. I’ve never wanted to sit outside due to the number of pan handlers, but it’s nice that it’s an option. Comfortable inside, well lit, larger seating area, and free wi-​fi.

This Tully’s is in an awesome location in a cool old building. The interior is quite large with lots of seating. Service is quick and accurate. And it doesn’t hurt that there is a super cute and friendly barista working there too!

Though I’m usually not a huge fan of big-​name coffee, I’ll select a Tully’s over a Starbucks any day. What makes this location unique is the staff. I’m always greeted by a friendly smile and conversation and by name and I rarely if ever have to tell them what I want. My coffee is almost at the ready when I reach the register.
You guys keep us caffeinated when we’re working our long days and your friendly faces are a very welcome sight.

I generally don’t like chains for reviewing or eating, but I had to redeem a gift card at Tully’s. I chose this one since it was on the way to class. I needed some energy so I knew that I’d grab something sweet with my caffeine. The Tully’s near my work downtown doesn’t offer cake so when I saw cake and pie at this Tully’s I stopped in my tracks. They had blueberry pie, chocolate coconut layer cake, and a mocha layer cake in addition to the run-​of-​the-​mill desserts offerings. I chose the chocolate coconut because the frosting looked irresistible. Mistake. I don’t know how long it had been sitting in the case because the exposed side had decidedly crusted over a tad. It did not make for a good cake experience. At least it was free.

It is what it is. Kinda cute building. Kinda nice location. Okay coffee. Friendly folk. It’s a step up from Starbuck’s in a coffee shop world, but it doesn’t quite have a personality of its own. I’ll be checking out other places.

The Hilton hyped this place so much by saying that Tully’s was 80x better than Starbucks. They made it seem as though we NEEDED to go to Tully’s or else we’d totally be missing out. I was SO not impressed by their coffee. To me, it was a little bland and bitter! I’ll choose Starbucks over Tully’s anyday.
The only reason that it gets two stars is that the staff was so friendly and fun! ;)
