University Motel Suites

For the price this is a great place to stay. Lots of room and they have a kitchen with utensils available which is just great. The staff is nice and helpful. Definitely staying here again soon.

First of all, you’re not going to get a cleaner hotel in Seattle at this price. Clean towels, linens, and it smells clean.
Second, these rooms are freaking huge. They’re actually (dated) efficiency apartments that are rented as rooms. Pots and pans, dishes, the whole shebang. A bedroom plus bed in the living room and a sofa.
Lastly, the owners are so so so damn nice. Friendly on the phone and friendly when we showed up.
I can’t say enough nice things about this place.

We have stayed half a dozen times & intend to stay there whenever in town. Love the clean, funky feel. Bigger by half than apt our son pays $ 1700 a month for. Not fancy, but when I am paying $ 90 a nite for living w flat screen, big dining table, funky little fully equipped kitchen, king bed in big bedroom I don’t mind fillings own ice cube trays. Covered secure parking under building. We even like it when living room has couches along w queen bed. Great to lay back & watch premium channels. Close to great restaurants, 3 diff groceries, BE AWARE… NO ELEVATOR for the 3 stories.

Great Place To Crash For Brother’s Wedding

So when my brother Julian had his wedding, my brother Gary (coming from D.C.) and me (coming from Sacramento) needed a place to crash.
When I’m by myself, it’s easier to just crash on my mom’s couch in Northgate hood. However, with the brother, mom’s 1-​Bedroom place is way too small and so it was just easier and more fun (location wise to the University hood) to crash with Gary.
THE SETUP
Located in the U. District — which happened to be the locale less than ½ mile where my brother Julian and his bride Sarah lived as well — we set up a non-​peak season reservation for 3 nights that averaged $ 72/​night for both of us.
AMENITIES
The place not only has double beds but also has a small dinette table and some other amenities since it is more like an apartment and less a motel room — so there is a nearly full-​size kitchen with fridge and stove so that you can prepare your own meals, which, with the Safeway just down the street, we opted to do a few times as well as buy some of our own alcohol instead of going out to pubs all the time (but which we did anyways besides having parties back in our room).
CONVENIENCE
Helluva good deal considering the convenience afforded us to all locatinos for the wedding party (bachelor party, wedding site, reception site, post-​chill wedding fun with mom, etc.)
THE LOWDOWN
Definitely will hit this Motel up for a future stay to visit my Seattle peeps if & when needed (and if mom happens to be out of town).

We stayed in the «Executive Suite» on 12÷22÷13 and it was… pretty good. My only real complaint is that we weren’t there long enough to really enjoy the experience. We were staying in WA for about 10 days, and my brother bought us a night in a hotel so we wouldn’t be stuck on air mattresses the whole time. It was very thoughtful, and the hotel bed was great – in comparison, at least.
The service from the front desk was great, she was very helpful and kind. The suite itself was HUGE. Place came stocked with dishes and cooking supplies. I was also a big fan of the *pink* stove, lol. Not only was there a queen-​sized bed in the living room but the suite had an entire bedroom with a door. It seemed like a little much just for the one night, just for two people, but I could tell that the staff really took care of the place. It came a a decently sized flat screen TV and a little dining area. I hope someday we can come back and stay long enough to experience the entire thing.

Just like everyone’s saying: an excellently-​priced, spacious suite that’ll make you feel like you’re staying in somebody’s apartment in 1975.
As a pretty green out-​of-​towner, it took me a bit to figure out how to take the alleyway to the rear-​entrance under-​building parking area, but other than that my stay went without a hitch. Priceline booked me the «Royal» suite and it was frankly bigger than my studio apartment, and had more furnishings to boot. $ 85/​night beat any chain hotel in the area pretty handily. Recommended.

Cheap, clean, a shit-​ton of space, and a kitchen! Plus in the U-​district, so close to all the things. Even the wifi worked. No complaints, and that’s all I’m looking for in a motel.

This place is amazing. Super cheap, but you get a full apartment with multiple rooms, and a kitchen with dishes and silverware. The location is perfect, in the University District obviously. It’s clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

This is a converted 1960s apartment building. That means all suites have a kitchen (stocked with plates, pots, coffeemaker, etc.) dining table, and separate bedroom. The differences between the suites lies in the size and number of beds hanging out in the living room. This makes for kind of an odd room arrangement but offers the undeniable luxury of watching TV in bed in the living room and then going to bed in the bedroom. Fixtures and furniture are funky but functional, beds are very comfy. Has cable, wifi, onsite coin laundry; no frills like pool or restaurant.
There’s a Walgreens across the street, Safeway a block away, and a gazillion cheap beer and falafel emporia two blocks out on the Ave. The suite I booked through Priceline (UMS does not offer online booking) was $ 114 on a night when a room the Space Needle Travelodge was $ 190. And that place sucks. Highly recommended for budget travelers who value comfort and convenience over swank décor.

This is my goto seattle motel now. Great prices, large rooms and friendly staff. Minutes from town.

Well for all you people that said its not bad for the price… well its $ 90 smakaroos!!! Old but cute. Smells funny, hard beds and just read the other reviews. Not even close to worth $ 90 a night and no negotiation! Pay a little more and get much more somewhere else.

Enormous rooms for the price; we had two doubles and a queen (king?) for two people for $ 78 a night. There was also a kitchen with fridge, stove, plates, cups, bowls, pots, pans, and utensils; salt and sugar in packets were also provided. It’s not snazzy or anything, but a good deal. It’s also close to University, so there were lots of restaurants, and the University of Washington is just a few blocks’ walk away.

The room we stayed In felt like an appartment and even had with a real kitchen.
We like it so much we stayed an extra night.
Walking distance from safeway, resturants near by, and close to the bus stop to go downtown.

The seahawks booster club endorses this motel for its members. So when seahawk friends stay here they come in flocks. It is frequented by fans from across the country and Canada.
The rooms can sleep at least 6 – 10 friends comfortably. 1 bedrooms,
3 Beds, Sofa Bed, and Carpeted floors. Living Room and a full Kitchen. Rates Depend on the number of guests. All for $ 70 – 80 a night. Or a ridiculous Weekly rate of $ 550 for 6 people. Split among friends comes out to $ 10-​$ 15 a night. That is cheaper then a Hostel. Everyone knows you just use your hotel to store stuff and to sleep. It would be an awful waste to stay in your room on your vacation.
So if your friends want a real long vacation without the frills. This is a recommended place to stay on the cheap. Tell your friends to save their money for our great beer and food up here.

The manager family is wonderful. The location is excellent. The value is tremendous.
We stayed in the top corner room for 3 weeks over a 7 week time period. Noise wasn’t much of an issue although the walls are super thin.
Major Con:
The internet is terrible!!! I had so many problems with it… so frustrating.
Minor Cons:
The bed wasn’t that comfortable, the freezer could barely fit our food, the pictures began to get on my nerves, the blankets smelled weird… but I would still stay there again…
Why you should stay there anyways:
The weekly rate was incredible… the parking was so helpful… the location is amazing with the Chaco Canyon Café right up the street… the laundry was always empty and is super cheap (I want to go back there just to do my laundry now that I’ve moved into my rental!)
Like others have said… this place is not fancy… but I would recommend it for anyone who wants to feel like they have a home away from home on vacation… (did I mention that this place is CHEAP!!!)

You might be tempted to assume this is like one of those skanky fleabag motels on Aurora — but you would be wrong. Originally built as housing for people who came to work at the World’s Fair in 1962, this building looks like it was last remodeled in the early 70s. But while it is definitely on the vintage side of old school, it’s actually a pretty great little motel.
Granted, this is not a fancy place. People accustomed to high-​end accommodations will quite possibly be horrified. But for us regular folks on a budget it is perfectly fine. I often put out-​of-​town guests here and they are generally very pleased with it.
Good things: Very reasonable prices compared to anything else in the area. Clean, large rooms that are really 1 or 2 bedroom apartments, with full kitchens stocked with everything needed to cook and eat meals (except the food). Beds are reported to be comfortable. On a very quiet side street in the U District. Grocery store and drug store a block away, and a short walk to movies, restaurants, and shopping. Close to I-​5, but without the noise. Wi-​fi and on-​site parking are free. Run by a nice young family who live there, and they promptly attend to anything that needs attending.
Not-​so-​good things: Some rooms have older appliances that may be on their last legs. Sliding closet doors have been known to pop off their tracks. Shower/​tubs may drain slowly. Old shag carpeting + 60s-​70s décor and furnishings that you might choose to find charming (fixtures and appliances may be aqua, pink, etc.). Sometimes the heating/​AC units are loud. No elevator. Rooms often smell like bleach after being cleaned.
For me, the pros far outweigh the cons, and I will gladly continue to send my budget-​conscious friends here.

Cheap. Huge rooms. A littler on the 1970s retro side but, for the price/​sq ft ratio its as good as it gets in the U-​District. I have all my friends and family stay here.
Gets crazy around football games, graduation and other big UW dates so be careful and plan ahead!

My girlfriend and I came to Seattle from New York for a 5 day visit. We stayed from 06÷20÷07 — 06÷24÷07. I’ll try to give as much helpful info as I can think of about our stay…
PRICE: $ 87/​night + taxes
SERVICE: The guy at the front desk was friendly and helpful with questions about the area. The cleaning service did a good job leaving plenty of new towels and tidying up the beds everyday.
ROOM: We had room 202. It seems like you get whatever room is available at check-​in. Our room had 3 queen beds which we obviously didn’t need for 2 people, but no big deal since all of the rooms are the same price. The entire apartment was clean, but the carpeting was old, stained and kinda funky, so you might want to skip barefooting it and keep your socks on. The beds were comfortable with clean sheets. The bathroom was a decent size. The shower had plenty of hot water and decent water pressure. The kitchen was key for us. We stocked up the place with Trader Joes stuff the day we got there, so we had plenty of food for the entire trip. The fridge is old and wasn’t too cold, but it still served the purpose. It was fully stocked with plates and utensils if you want to cook yourself. Plenty of closet space. Standard TV channels. Iron and ironing board are both in the room. There is a phone in the room, but we used our cell phones.
LOCATION: This was also key for us. You are right in the middle of the University District, so a lot of excellent places are in walking distance: Trader Joes, Chaco Canyon, Flying Apron, U District Farmers Market, Hillside Quickies, Pizza Pi, SIdecar For Pigs Peace to name just a few spots. We’re both VEGAN, so there were more places to eat in the U District than pretty much anywhere else in Seattle. The only downsides were that an apartment building was being built directly across the street, so there was LOUD construction from 7:30 AM — 5 :00 PM almost every day we were there and there was a house full of students next door outside our window that were on the porch of their house til around 2:30 AM getting drunk and high, so they were kinda noisy.
PARKING: There is a small parking lot underneath the building. There aren’t many spots, but we never had a problem getting one. It is secure with many security cameras.
Overall, the building could use quite a bit of updating, but we still had an enjoyable stay. If low prices and the U District mean anything to you, then this is the place to stay.

When my friend told me she had booked us into an independent motel for $ 77/​night I was more than little bit sketched out. This sketch factor was elevated when we pulled up in front of the building.
It’s old.
It has an old 70’s «Motel» sign out front.
There are only 3 floors.
Clearly, this is not the Hilton. It is however, a decent motel for a very reasonable price (especially for a couple 20-​somethings paying for the journey out of their own pocket).
The actual room we were staying in was large, clean, and had many more ammenities than one would have expected for $ 77/​night. Sure it was in need of some updating and there were some quirky aspects to it but overall, pretty sweet suite.
We had a kitchen! And a dining area! And 3 full size beds!
All in all, i would say that we got exactly what we paid for, if not more, and really, that’s all that anyone can expect, isn’t it?
