My friend told me about this place so I immediately went to check it out. They are only open Tuesdays to the general public and there is no parking on site. Make sure you arrive before noon because there is a line that forms and the eager people in the front might grab that little orange tag off the items you want before you! I found a great metal rolling filing cabinet for $ 5 my first visit. My second visit I left with nothing. It really is a hit or miss as inventory changes each week. So, go check it out folks!

Really cool place! The University of Washington Surplus Store basically has the most random collection of surplus stuff… mostly used stuff, but very cheap. They are open to the public on Tuesdays only, but then also host auctions multiple times a year. I have been nearly a dozen times and have seen so many different things for sale including: –Computers –Chairs /Sofas /Tables –Pianos –File cabinets –Desks Even REALLY random items like: –Old parking meters –Covers for gynecological stirrups –a «Pickles and Fries» neon sign from a remodeled cafeteria More info at: Great deals on random stuff. No refunds. Difficult parking unless you want to pay in a UW parking lot.

Do you need an oxygen chamber? What about a dozen mismatched chairs from the early 70’s? How long have you been waiting to own your very own street lamp? You will find the most amazing and mundane things at the UW’s surplus center. The location can be a little hard to find since it’s behind campus security, down a narrow flight of stairs, and through a boat yard, but don’t be deterred… press on… when you get to the warehouse you will be in awe! They open the warehouse to the public every Tuesday from Noon to 6:00. Be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to turn one institution’s garbage into your very own treasure!
