Yo Swirl

It’s alright. You don’t get very much for what you pay for. Inconvienant location.

It’s frozen yogurt. I don’t know how to comment much on it. Like every other similar store, they have to make money, and they do charge somewhat high prices for what they sell. I got a medium-​sized cup for $ 3.75; it was $ 4.11 after tax and that basically comes out to five dollars after tip. Their jar was labeled «college fund,» and being a recent college graduate myself, how could I not help out the girl behind the counter?
She offered to give me two samples. It looks like they only have four flavors, and that’s a bit strange. What kind of place specializing in frozen yogurt only has four flavors of frozen yogurt? This one, apparently. So basically, after trying those two samples, I had a taste of half their complete selection. Not wanting to appear greedy or test this girl’s patience, I just settled with a cup of mountain blackberry.
It was pretty standard fare for frozen yogurt. The price was a bit higher than what I would have liked, but I did get those free samples to kind of make up for it. Toppings were fifty cents each, and I never get toppings at places like these because they’re never worth it. I think my main concern here is the lack of variety, but the service was pretty nice, and I don’t want to criticize them too much for that.

My daughters and I were at Northgate Mall and stopped in for dessert. We thought the prices were reasonable and the fro-​yo was good.

Pretty good yogurt. I got almonds, choc chips, and strawberries with tart flavor yogurt and it was about $ 4 for a medium size. Girl at the register was nice and service was fast. If I’m ever in the Northgate mall soon, I’ll definitely stop by for a yumm bite to eat.

NO EXCHANGES OR REFUNDS FOR A BAD PRODUCT?
As someone who has frequented other Yo Swirl locations, don’t even go here as it has horrible management and poor quality control for the products — give your business to Baskin Robbins which is just down the aisle or somewhere else. We wasted $ 6 for a product we couldn’t even enjoy.
My pregnant wife ordered from here and took a bite and it didn’t taste right (we hadn’t even walked 20 feet away from the counter after ordering) the yogurt was very bitter compared to what she has tasted at other Yo Swirl locations, my wife asked to exchange for a different yogurt as it didn’t taste right, Yo Swirl refused to give any exchanges or refunds, said it was managements policy. So we wasted $ 6 for a product that we ended up leaving at the Yo Swirl counter for them to throw away… My pregnant wife was almost in tears, we had a hard time buying Christmas presents for everyone this year as money is tight, and this was going to be a treat for her… Thanks a lot Yo Swirl — you lost my business at the Seattle Northgate location permanently.
Pros:
Nice girl behind the counter — but hands tied due to bad management.
Cons: FroYo at this place is sub-​par, you can get better elsewhere.
Management needs to have some product quality control, and some customer service.
They are STINGY with the berries and froyo at this location, this girl was weighing and counting the individual berries, placing them one at a time on the froyo with tongs… Seems like the manager is hardcore about not giving the customers their moneys worth…
For my family — we will never visit this location again.

Stopped by awhile ago with some friends and I gotta say, I’m glad I did.
I myself got the original tart flavor with mochi and strawberries, and though it may be simple, something about their tart stands out compared to the others. Their flavors seem to change periodically because I remember passing by earlier today and saw they had raspberry pomegranate which sounded pretty good. I would’ve stopped by to get some if it wasn’t so cold outside…
Anyways, my friend got the thin mint cookie flavor (I think they switched it out with new york cheesecake which sounds even better…) with oreo topping and my other friend got a mango smoothie which i snuck a sip of and its REALLY good.
And to make this place even better, they’re really really nice. They’re generous with samples and they also seem to be working hard despite having only one person working at a time.

I visited this place once using a Groupon back in July.
The froyo was no good :(too icy, not creamy, just very bleh.
The toppings were alright, and I don’t remember much about the pricing, because I had a Groupon deal to begin with.
I don’t recommend this place, unless you are in Northgate mall and you are just desperate for froyo and can’t go elsewhere to get some.

I am a big fan of iced treats. However, this is not a place I would like to go back again.
It’s in Northgage Mall. A little tiny store front with selections of 8 – 10 toppings for the frozen yogurt. I ordered a small original frozen yogurt with strawberry topping. It’s expensive for the amount of frozen yogurt I was getting. Plus, the service wasn’t ok. They lady who helped me was kinda in a bad mood or something. She wasn’t very happy to see me for some reason. Not to mention, she didn’t handle the topping very well. It was all over the place :-(
Though, I was glad that my friends and I were able to sit close by and rest.

This place is expensive. Like reeeeeeally. We would indulge while at the mall. Just the original flavor froyo (light, crisp, kind of citrusy, a little tangy) with some oatmeal/​nuts and fruit as topping. It was about $ 4, which was a tolerable price for a small.
The other day we decided to go large and it was nearly $ 7. It hardly looked much different than the previous size we bought and the froyo barely went above the rim of the cup. I actually had the naïve thought the girl was putting toppings in the middle layer before adding more froyo. Nope! I looked down at this sad froyo cup when she said it was done and contemplated saying something, but didn’t. I mean, what else is there to say? She didn’t make the sizes, the portions are probably automated or weighed before serving. She could probably care less that I feel I should have gotten more froyo for what I paid.
All I know is I’m not getting my froyo there any longer. I’ll just buy the stuff at the grocery store like normal people.

There are much better fro yo places in Seattle; I would only get my fro yo fix here out of convenience if I were shopping at the mall and had no other choice.
1. Too icy; not creamy enough. The fro yo melted way too fast and was more slushy than creamy.
2. Odd flavors. Cheesecake fro yo? Ew. The original and kiwi strawberry swirl was okay.
3. Spacy staff. There was no one behind the counter when we got there. She came out after a minute of us standing there.

I really like this place. Why? Because they have mochi as a topping!!! I LOVE mochi. But here’s two little things they could improve on. Offer more flavors. The flavors they have are good, but I would like more variety. And the few times I’ve been here, there has only been one worker. And I ALWAYS get stuck right behind the Mom and children who have really no idea what they want and take forever to order. So I wish they have one more person to help. But other than that, I recommend the tart /​original flavor and mochi. My faave.

The wife and I both love the healthy alternative to food court food that still hits the sweet spot. I’m more of a savory eater and opt for the warm waffles. The wife is the sweet tooth and opts for the live-​culture health oriented yogurt.
Before, when our energy would run low and we would be cranky before we had picked out the right comforter pattern, found the organic-​cotton sheets in our thread-​count, or located the right dish-​drying rack, we would grab a food court snack. But after a burger, fried fish, or wedge of fudge we were either lethargic or jittery. Now when we need a pick me up to finish our shopping we stop by Yo Swirl, and we have the patience and clear head to find the pattern that will look good in our home for years.

Michelle and I both saw the name of the place and both screamed: yo swirl, exchanged a look and burst out laughing. The girl who worked there was nice, I ordered a small but she gave me a large instead. Better toppings than CrazeCherry, cheaper. if i werent lactose intolerant, I would come here every time.

When we went to the mall this afternoon I bought my sons each a Mango Madness Smoothie… they were very tasty and the lady at the counter was friendly and fast even with the mad Christmas crowds.

I always stick to the original flavor when trying out a place for the first time. What can I say, it’s the scientist in me that likes to start off with a «control group» for the sake of being fair to each froyo joint.
Friendly staff, but the froyo itself just didn’t do it for me. It was a tad bit too tangy and a tad bit too icy. Maybe since it’s called Yo Swirl, I should’ve tried swirling the flavors, but I guess I’ll have to save that for my next trip to the mall.. .I mean my next experiment.

I love Fro yo but this place just didn’t do it for me. The yogurt tastes like it has a lot of water added to it, lots of ice. The cheesecake had a good flavor but not a great texture. The chocolate was borderline bad. All fro yo seems to be expensive, perhaps because it is trendy, but this one seemed worse. The small is only a few bites worth and is $ 3.50. I thought there would be more too it because the container they display is so big, but they only fill it part way and the bottom is filled with air. Better luck going next door to See’s Candy for a peice of chocolate!

The girl behind the counter was super nice to me when I said I’ve done the froyo bit [seriously, who hasn’t?] but haven’t been anywhere with this fancypants ~swirling~ trend.
I had chocolate mixed with cheesecake, which was pretty tasty. When I got my 4oz [a small], it looked pretty large, and she even put it on a scale to weigh it. She gave me lots of mochi and raspberries — just the way I like it. The toppings here were fresh and the mochi was of a good consistency by my standards [not super chewy, a lot tastier than the stuff I’ve had at University Teriyaki] and the raspberries were fresh not previously-​frozen mush.
Imagine my surprise when I dig through to the middle and realize the center was hollow. Actually I wasn’t too surprised, so it’s not a good mental picture, but it *was* sort of «eh?»
$ 5.50 for a small twist with two toppings including ~$ 1 tip. I could do better elsewhere, but for some reason finding a shop with decent chocolate froyo seems to be hard for me. I don’t go to Northgate frequently enough anymore but this may become an occasional indulgence.

I hate to be the wet blanket here, but I am not a fan of Yo Swirl. Their yogurt feels like it’s whipped with more air than yogurt, so you’re paying for air, at a higher cost than some places I’ve been. The yogurt also doesn’t taste as good either, if I am at a new place I always stick with original, and their original is not a winner, it’s pretty dull. The girl manning the counter at the time when we went, wasn’t as friendly and, kinda dull. Also this may be minor to some but I hope this has changed by now, but using tongs for toppings is just crazy. How about a spoon, that way you’re not smashing fruit or dropping the dry toppings into other things? I mean have you ever picked up granola or fruity pebbles with tongs? (Me thinks not) Also we spied a girl working there one day hooking up her girlfriends with free yogurt and all! That’s cool and all, but not cool when you have customers in line waiting in an open area, walking away because of that. I mean have you not learned a thing? You’re suppose to do it on the DL! One star for location, the other star for having more toppings.

Oooooo… They are new, they are at Northgate, and their frozen yogurt is oh so good! What I like about this place already is that I am not overloaded with choices. Flavors include original, mango, cheesecake, and chocolate. They offered me a sample of the original and mango swirled when they saw me eyeballing them from across the mall. It is refreshing, simple, and good! I ran off to do my shopping and came right back to get a small cup of that original/​mango swirl for $ 3.29. They also have a number of fresh fruit toppings that are really truly fruit… not preservatives in a sauce. They also have granola, almond, and some cereal toppings. What a great snack to grab while shopping at Northgate!
