Aubergine After Dark

Nope. Nope. Nope. Alright, this is JUST about the bar. First time here tonight, watching a friend’s band play some rock n roll. Excited to see they had a full bar. Yes! First, two girls behind the bar… semi-​friendly. It was busy so I’m sure they were a bit stressed… understandable. Ordered a couple basic vodka cocktails for my wife and I. Watched the pour… not even close to a chain restaurant! I didn’t expect dive bar quality knock you off the stool drinks, but something. Nope. After we slurped those pathetic beverages down, figured we’d try again. NOPE. Even worse this time from the other semi-​friendly girl. Another 2 minutes of downing this round of $ 12 drinks and I thought… OK, one last try. My friend’s were almost done with their set on stage and I didn’t want to switch to sipping a beer. So… reluctantly…back to the girls I went. This time I ordered what I thought would give me at least some hope of getting a buzz… a White Russian. Simple, tasty, perfect. NOPE NOPE NOPE! Watched her pour this sorry excuse of a beverage. Like the others, the amount of vodka could barely even be seen in the glass. Then, she actually pulled out of the fridge a carton of Fat Free Milk. FAT FREE MILK. The drink is made with cream. If no cream, half & half. No half and half, regular milk. NEVER FAT FREE MILK! She filled the glass with that non-​fat tasteless liquid and then, splashed a bit of Khalua on the top. And then… and then… she put it in a shaker and shook for a split second. IT’S A F-​ING WHITE RUSSIAN! Not a martini! Ouch. She handed me this frothy fat-​free nonsense and then said «$ 9 please». Dare I say… O… M…G. I say again… NOPE NOPE NOPE. Give it up girlies, or at least take some lessons from a more experienced bartender.

This review is not for the venue particularly, but for specific staff. Every time I have been to this establishment, I have witnessed two staff who are stand out employees. Angel and Orlando are ALWAYS working so hard and focused, I couldn’t help but notice them. They are helpful, professional and a stellar example of what a great employee should be. They are both team players who go above and beyond and should be recognized by the management as a HUGE asset to the business. I hope they are appreciated by the management for the loyal hard working employees that they are, because as a business owner myself I know how hard it is to find quality staff.
I wish you both much luck in your careers, your hard work does not go unnoticed.

i had a great time here the other night. they’ve got a full service bar and book awesome shows. coming up in late January is DJ Q-​Bert!!! i’m kind of pleased and amazed that a place in Sebastapol is getting world class talent like that.
