Hale Mary seems to have a cult following in the SF Bay area restaurant scene. Count Gary Danko, Jardinière, Spruce and La Folie as carriers. I ran into their wine at Sent Sovi in Saratoga not too long ago. When I think Pinot, I think Burgundy. Mazis Chambertin and the like. Hale Mary(pun intended) is a Russian River attempt at a meeting with Burgundy. They make it in the Freeman Winery in Sebastopol from vines in the Teac Mor vineyards. Not quite as mineral as a Burgundy, but the attempt is close. As American Pinot’s go, this is one of the better ones I’ve tried. Too bad they are so limited in their quantity. I guess you’ll have to hit one of their restaurant patrons to find it nowadays
