The Secaucus Outlets

This used to be my go to place to shop at. Came by ready to shop, after two years, to find that the mall they had shut down.
They deals at Kenneth Cole and children’s place were disappointing. Same goes for the Tommy Hilfiger. I didn’t bother going into the Gucci. Nautica seemed to have some decent deals. The Burlington coat factory was ok.

This is not a convenient outlet at all. It’s like a dead town and very ghetto. I’ve never been to an outlet that is scattered out and when I mean scattered out it means getting into your car and driving to another parking lot for a shop. Unlike other outlets I’ve been to, these shops were small. There wasn’t much to choose from and bargain doesn’t quite feel like a bargain. I can honestly say «at least I’ve been here once». I would just come here for the Gucci store if you like to shop at Gucci.

Notwithstanding the almost post-​apocalyptic and possibly dystopian world/​ambiance/​setting, you’ll save mucho dinero at CK, Gucci, and Kenneth Cole. If only for these three stores/​brands, it is worth coming down to this Mad-​Max like environment.
Seriously, it is eery how quiet it is on a Saturday. And there are no places to eat save for the occasional ice cream truck that drives by and stops when you flag him down.
You feel like you’re shopping on the set (and being part of) a post-​modern movie. Weird vibes here. But nice CK suits at good prices.

Ghetto and spread out
You don’t know if you’re in an industrial office park or shopping center and to that point there is no center. A couple stores spread out in driving distance.
Save your time

I think I caught a cold driving with the top down on a 60 degree day through the Holland tunnel to Dirty Jersey. Not quite a mall and probably not worth the free tax for these poorly mapped warehouses you have to drive to to get to each one.

If you like shopping and bargain — this place is for you!

I went here today just to browse, and I liked it a lot. You cannot expect a gleaming outlet center ala Woodbury or Jackson or tons of selection like Jersey Gardens– it is what it is.
Yes, you do need to drive from store to store and it can be confusing, but I found a map online that shows where all of the stores are. The stores were having insanely ridiculous sales. Kenneth Cole had everything 41% off and Bass was selling shoes buy 1 get TWO free. There is also a Burlington Coat Factory, a Nine West outlet with good prices, and a nice Syms.
Harmon Cover (the enclosed outlet «mall») is kind of disappointing, but they do have an okay kitchen store and a couple of okay shoe stores.
All in all, I’d head to Jersey Gardens if I wanted tons of selection, but the prices here seemed better than those at any outlet mall I’ve ever been to. A lot of the stores lean towards selling «career» clothes rather than «casual’ ones, so keep that in mind.

This is where to go outside the city for bargains. The Bally’s store here had the same shoes that sell in the city for $ 400 for $ 50. Prices are cheap. Perry Ellis, CK, Bally’s, Reebok, Italian Goods store all very good. Skip Woodbury Commons which is much farther with average prices and come here. Closer and cheaper. The stores are spread out and there is a bus but best if you have a car.

Went to the outlets and Harmon Cove outlets in June 08. The stores I went to are :
Motherhood Maternity, it’s actually called Maternity Works so after driving around trying to find Motherhood Maternity, I gave up and went to Maternity Works, then realized it’s the same thing. The Motherhood Maternity brand had the same prices like retail but also have sales as and when. They do have Pea in the Pod and another high-​end brand that’s clearance. The staff were very helpful and it was a good and stress-​free shopping there.
Gucci outlet — I wanted some sunglasses but the choices were pretty limited. There were some good sales going on for bags and shoes, one bag was $ 1200 from $ 1800 and there were some items that’s 50% off.
Liz Clairbone (moved to Harmon Cove outlets) — good selections, I think it has a nice petite section but since I’m pregnant, I didn’t really look at that. The handbags and wallets are nicely displayed.
Juicy Couture — I wanted to check out bags and wallets but the pickings were pretty slim for those.
Century 21 — this was pretty bad. It’s a really small store so selections are not much at all but what they do have is pretty cheap. I saw some Bali bras for 10 bucks and less.
All in all, the driving around is pretty confusing and if you accidentally turn into the wrong main road, it’s hard to get back. But, there’s hardly any crowds so that’s the plus point.
I highly recommend the Maternity store and checking out Gucci too.

Lots of decent bargain shopping here. I just don’t like getting into my car to travel 1 – 2 minutes between every freakin’ store. It is annoying and time consuming. You can try out the Jersey Garden Mall instead (all the stores are under one shopping mall).
It’s definitely worth giving it a try… you might like it (but it is not for me).

Outlet Shopping.
For this is the first outlet I ever went to many many moons ago. And the first time I went there I never really liked the place at all. This place is probably the first outlet concept, but it just wasn’t really layed out correctly. All the shops are spread out and you have to get back in your car to drive to them. It has a great bunch of stores, just very annoying to travel to each because you have to leave your parking spot and go to another area for some of the stores.

I need to urge all Unilocalers who love to shop for bargains, listen up…
GO HERE… get lost and drive in circles. you will, but either way, you will find a bargain no matter where you stop & shop and it will be higher end either way.
Men, women, kids and home, everything you could possibly look for and then some. Enjoy!

For outlet stores that are not in shambles and dissaray, try the stores at the Secaucus Outlets. The outlet stores here are the closest to resembling flagship stores. Any other outlet center in the east coast that I have been to have been severely disappointing. The Gucci, YSL, and Calvin Klein outlets are the highlight of this little discount haven. You’re better off taking a car though because the stores are pretty spread out. If its a nice day its not a bad walk, but be sure to get a map in the mall that is there otherwise you’ll spend alot of time trying to find your way. Happy hunting!
