Yes the property is beautiful and impressive, but I gotta rant about the leasing office staff, they are just completely useless, ignorant and unresponsive.
We toured the place, liked it, and wanted to rent one. The leasing agent we had was «new» according to her and didn’t know anything when we asked a question, she always had to go back and forth to check with her manager. I asked for her contact info. and she gave me an invalid email. I grabbed a business card of the manager, emailed her twice and left two voice mails, called again and asked someone to take a massage to the manager, still no one returned my emails or calls. Their staff is simply incompetent, irresponsible and unresponsive.

I have a thing for lobbies. I don’t know why, but I do and this one is beautiful and very well maintained.
I stayed at a friend’s for 2 weeks because my apartment was being renovated and I am actually surprised at the reviews. The building is very well maintained and my favorite place is that little study cozy spots in the lobby. The people at the front desk are kind and friendly and were extremely considerate when I did not carry my temporary fob. Temporary residents have a good parking space and get a 48 hour permit.
The building is close to the train station and they have a wonderful and efficient shuttle service that takes you to the station and back.
The only reason why I wouldn’t move here is because I love where I already live.

Beware of the term «Luxury Apartment…» There is nothing luxurious about the complex expect for the fitness center however, it’s not included in the rent. If you use the pool, just know your being watched by random security and concierge staff on the computers at the front desk and each bldg front desk. The «concierge» service they claim to provide is nothing more than a person handing you your amazon package (if you even get it) from behind a desk. That’s it and that’s if they are even there! You will probably have to wait. You end up paying a portion of the complex electric and water bill — even if you do not use it. The smell is terrible and the trash rooms are constantly full of garbage that is rotting food. The move in and move out is such a joke. You pay 200 or so dollars for both plus the 1500 dollar deposit. They claim it’s for elevator use (does not work all the time) and «security presence» but security is no where around during the move. You will be charged for random things during your move out so be prepared. Take pictures and make sure you demand security be present to watch your moving van because that’s what your paying for!

Good location but you need car if in this area, decent apartments but absolutely worst management. I wish could give them negative 5. These people are frauds. They have zero sense of customer service. All thier staff specially those sitting at front desk are rude and mean. They run unauthorized inquiries on your credit to ruin it even if you are not the leaae holder and when confronted would deny and find loopholes. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at any cost. WORST MANAGEMENT! !!

This is the WORST landlord I have ever rented from! I am a business professional and my mother became ill so I was gone a lot. I mailed a rent check that they «allegedly» never received. Well, they didn’t tell me they didn’t receive it and I came home from my travels and checked my mail and saw a late notice… so I went online and paid it again! I tried calling them to talk to someone… but nobody calls you back! Then, within 2 days, I get a notice jammed in my door that I have to go to court and now they are taking my free rent and saying I have to pay that immediately. Mind you, they are now paid and even my «late» payment was only 20 days after the rent due date! Still no phone call or email to tell me they didn’t get my original payment and I had just arrived home from my travels and then visiting my mom in the hospital… so I had no idea… then I came home to a note wedged in my door that I have to go to court! Really?!? I mean are you kidding me? I didn’t even KNOW that they didn’t get the rent check I mailed 3 weeks ago (I haven’t been home!)
They are scam artists and now I found out that these «luxury» apartments are section 8 low income housing too! #badlandlord #xchangenj @xchangenj Worst customer relations! Oh and they charge about $ 75 per month to use the facilities in those pictures and their shuttle bus $ 20 is always full when the weather is bad. Ugh! RUN FOREST RUN!!!

Unfortunately everything you’re reading about the management is true, the building is beautiful but the customer service is really poor.
We had to break our year lease early since we moved to the west coast, it took 60 days for them to refund the security deposit and they deducted $ 250 dollars on top of the moving out fee claiming we damaged the microwave door, luckily i made a video of the entire apartment before returning the keys to the management just in case this happens, we tried to dispute this claim but the people from the office do not respond emails or phone calls anymore, so i don’t think we will get that money back.
Before moving out make sure you take pictures or make a video to cover yourself because it seems like this happens often

Bad for babies!!!
The apartments are provided with a new carpet on leasing which sheds like crazy despite regular vacuuming even after a month. So if you have a baby who crawls you would want to avoid this place as crawling on this carpet would inevitably mean inhaling or eating carpet shedding.
Its’s been 1.5 months since we moved in here. Within the first few days we realised the carpet is shedding. We brought this up to the maintenance guy in our building and he said as it is a new carpet we need to vacuum it. But even now after many weeks here, the carpet still continues to shed. Our vacuum has got clogged up and stopped working multiple times with the unending shedding. Every time I call the customer care they send someone from maintenance, who has the same reply,“Keep vacuuming. We don’t know how long will it take for the carpet to stop shedding.” When I went to the Leasing Office with this is issue, they directed me to the property manger’s office. They too had the same response as the maintenance guys. The only solution they offered me was for me to pay for an upgraded carpet that will not shed. Seriously, you give me a low quality shedding carpet and then expect me to pay for an upgrade for the right quality carpet that should have been provided in the first place. And my biggest concern is that I have a 9month old baby, who is just learning to crawl. All this carpet shedding is a big health hazard for her. When I voiced my concern for my baby, the maintenance guy and the property management official said ‚“What can I do”.

If I can give this place no stars that would be best! This place when I went to see it about 3 years ago was completely different than it is now! It has become totally overpriced ghetto with nasty workers. They charge you for every little thing including breathing and walking around. Most of all how are you going to get anyone to come live in your ghetto overpriced luxury place when your workers treat interested leasers like shit! Are you F*** kidding me! Shame

DO NOT MOVE HERE. I really can’t say it any clearer you will absolutely regret it hands down. I would even go as far to say don’t move into any building that is run by Middlesex Management Group. Stay far away I move almost every year because of work and if there is one thing I have learned is never move into a place that will charge you a move out fee (Xchange charges $ 200) there is a reason they need to collect 200 from you it’s because no one wants to stay there and with good reason. Please do not move into this place I wouldn’t trust them with my trash I wish I read all the one star reviews before I moved in I would rather live on the street than move back into here

It would have been helpful if I knew these facts that they don’t put int the apartment listing, so I am putting them up for everyone:
–Security deposit is 1.5 months of rent
–There’s a $ 250 move in and another $ 250 move out fee
–There’s a refundable $ 1500 move in deposit fee, if they think you scratched or damaged something during move in, they will take it out of that $ 1500 and refund you the rest.
–They have great amenities but to use them you have to pay $ 75/​month per individual. So, if there are two people living in an Xchange apartment, they both pay $ 150/​month to use those amenities.
–Booking of any common space comes with a big fee too.
–There’s $ 100 fee for each person who are listed in the lease
I hope this review helps people to make a decision before they head to Secaucus :)

The place looks great and I’d been wanting to check out the one bed room apartments in person after checking out floor plans and pictures on their website. Location is great so I was excited to see how it was, but all that excitement turned to disappointment from the moment I stepped into the leasing office.
I had registered online with them and scheduled what I thought was a personal appointment to look at apartments. When I got there the greeter was very rude and asked what I wanted. I told her I had an appointment and she asked me to register at their kiosk. I politely told her that i had already registered online at which she scoffed, threw her arms up and said «well you have to do it again». Not a good start.
After that I was told to join an ongoing tour of the amenities. I was not disappointed with what I saw. However after coming back from that an agent took about 4 or 5 couples to a few of the apartments. She was talking a thousand words per second and rushing us through the tour of the places while complaining that the agents are understaffed. We looked at a one bed room and two two bed rooms, but came out thoroughly confused about pricing, styles of apartments and square footages. When I approached the agent after the tour with more questions and a possible tour of some other one bed rooms she sent me across to another leasing office to see for myself.
All in all I was disappointed with their customer service and turned off to the idea of pursuing an apartment there despite liking a lot of what I saw because this might be reflective of the rest of their staff that I’d have to put up with if I lived there.

The 4 floors of amenities are amazing. However, there is no cable on the tvs on the cardio equipment. I find it amazing that with such high tech, top of the line equipment, you only get basic cable. (And msnbc and spike tv). There is an iPod hookup, but it doesn’t fit iPhone 5 or 6.
Also, I was specifically told that there was cable when I took the tour, which is the reason for the 3 star review. I might have thought twice about being locked in to $ 75 a month for the year, had I known I would have nothing decent to watch while doing my cardio.

When we went to see apartment today, what we noticed is that there seems to be some communication gap between Leasing Office management and their entertainment company (American Leisure).
American Leisure company allowed us hang out in lounge area for little bit and management people came to us and told us that you can’t hang out there. Lost our interest to be future resident there!!!

I lived at this location for 2 years. I am not satisfied with my stay here and how they treated me after I moved out of this place. Every tenant I have talked to so far about the money they deduct from the security deposit, I came to find a pattern. They will deduct the amount of money from your deposit for the period for which your unit was unoccupied after you leave. One thing is for sure that they never give your 100% deposit back. In my case I have decided to take them to court for my deduction since the pics that I have when I was leaving had no damage in the fridge but they showed me a pic with scratches in the fridge door and charged $ 400 for that. You can buy a whole new fridge for that price. Some of the issues with this so called luxury community :
1) Very expensive compared to the town of Secaucus. You can do the research by checking the rent of the Secaucus town and the area they provide you to live.
2) Doorman/​concierge are not doorman at all here. Even if both your hands are busy and something falls from your hand while opening the door, nobody will come to your rescue, be rest assured.
3) If you have tenants living above you, you can hear their foot steps as the construction here is not a good quality. Thin floors make life miserable.
4) Shuttle is not free — you pay $ 600 /​year on top of your rent and NJ transit pass to reach to the train station.
5) My unit had to be cleaned for bed bugs twice. They told me that my unit was never rented before but in few months my couch and living room got heavily infested with bed bugs and I had ask for heavy chemical spray. I was out of my unit for 3 weeks due to this. I can’t forget the smell of the spray till date, Other units have bed bugs here too.
6) There is minimum power back up in the entire community. During Sandy we had a horrible time living here. Almost got into depression due to no backup and light.
7) Curtesy to the front desk service you will never receive your packages. I had a really hard time receiving my packages here. I lost so many amazon deliveries here.
8) Even if you decide to move here, take a before move in video of your unit and a move out video of your unit with date and time visible on it because these people will try to steal your security deposit for the damages for which you are never responsible. Sometimes they do the damage themselves to keep your security deposit.
WARNING: Stay as far as you can from this place if you want to keep your money safe.

This is a private members only Lifestyle Center, exclusively for the residents of Xchange. If it weren’t for a FEW pet peeves, I would have given The Station five stars. Instead of dwelling on the cons, I’d rather use this review to provide useful info for residents who are thinking about joining or future residents who are debating whether or not to move to Xchange.
The Station is a Lifestyle Center offering four floors of activities each with its own purpose. The building is managed by American Leisure and during operating hours you have direct access to a concierge who can help plan all aspects of your experience there.
First Floor: Upon entering the Station you are greeted by a very high tech, trendy and upscale living room. You have a «Mac Bar» complete with 8 touchscreen iMacs with full internet access. You have a conference room in the rear which can be used for business meetings. You also have laptop booths which are semi-​enclosed rooms you can sit in with your own laptop and work in peace and quiet. Across from the tech labs you have a Bar which can be rented for private functions. In between the bar/​lounge and the tech lab you have a seating area with wooden tables to sit and eat or read (whatever you desire). In the rear of the living room, in the right corner is a private screening room with a 80″ Samsung TV, wall mounted. It is connected to Apple TV (for movie rentals) and a bluray player (coming soon), so you can bring your own movies if you prefer to. The blinds are electronically controlled which is a nice touch. The screening room is a good size for about 6 people to sit comfortably and the seating is sofa style versus traditional movie theater seating. Another plus.
Completing the Living Room in the rear center is a sunken lounge which features a fireplace, drop down movie theater screen (I’m guessing about 200″) and plush leather sofas with ottomans. They give you a touchscreen wall unit to control what is watched on the screen.
If you make a left away from the Living Room, you will enter the Game Room section of the first floor. Here you will find a gorgeous Pool Table, Poker Table, a flat screen TV and lounge seating. However, the COOLEST feature of the game room is the Virtual Golf room. It’s really something you have to see in person to realize just how much detail went into this place but lets just say it is the equivalent of playing a real game of golf in the comfort of a lounge and in front of a GIANT screen. You have real golf clubs, are hitting a real golf ball and sensors all around the room track ball velocity and speed. Its really amazing.
Second Floor: This is the Cardio and Weight Training rooms. The room on the left is the Weight Training room. You have all the latest Bow Flex-​esque weight training devices, free weights, dip machine, pull up bar and sit-​up bench. You will also notice in mostly all the fitness rooms, a 90″ TV featuring Fitness on Demand. it’s a collection of fitness videos tailored to take advantage of the various themes in each room. For instance, the Weight Room has Weight lifting videos. The cycling room, has cycling video and so forth. It’s like having a digital personal trainer that you can use at your own leisure.
Across the hall is the Cardio Room. In here you will find the latest treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals, cycles and a few additional weight training machines (leg press, seated dips, etc). There are plenty of machines so you don’t need to worry about waiting for one.
Third Floor: Another floor for fitness. There are three rooms on the left side of the hallway: Cycling room, yoga room and aerobics room. Each room is moderately sized and well laid out, with heavy emphasis on the use of the Fitness of Demand TVs I had mentioned earlier.
Across the hall from the fitness area is the Special Events Room. This is a private event space featuring a full working kitchen, coat closets, twin flat screen TVs and a deck, which can be rented by the hour for private parties.
Fourth Floor: Opening soon is the Aqua Grotto. It features a gorgeous, although small, lap pool with attached jetted whirlpool/​soaking tub. There is also a steam room and a sauna. Separate M/​F locker rooms with a shower in each. Additionally on this floor is the Spa Center– featuring a spa lounge, massage room, table shower massage room and various other spa-​specific rooms. Services will be offered for a fee.
A few MINOR cons hinder an otherwise perfect experience. However, very few buildings offer this level of Amenities for the price.
I love coming home!

Negatives:
Beware of poor customer service. The management company that owns the Xchange does not have their act together and might lose your rental payment and blame you (after they cash your check!). During one incident we paid our rental on time, but were told that we never paid our rent. I called into the call center to inquire how this could have happened and the staff would hang up on me when I attempted to explain that I paid and my bank statements indicated that I had also paid. After hours of making calls and trying to argue with illogical staff I finally found someone at Middlesex Management who listened. They finally realized it was their fault! Overall, Middlesex Management is extremely unprofessional and refuses to cooperate when there are problems.
They make moving out a real pain, especially if you break the lease. I’m talking about paperwork and dealing with an unresponsive office.
Take photos of everything in the apartment before you move into the unit as the staff will accuse you of doing damage even if the apartment had preexisting damage. When I moved in the water did not run and there was dirt all over the place!
When there were issues in the building such as doors from the parking lot never opening we would never hear back when we requested support. Management did not take pride in ensuring the whole building was functional and would never respond to us.
The building has some excess fees for moving in and out. Seemed a bit much to me, but nothing tenants can do besides not sign the lease.
Positives:
Maintenance staff would respond very fast when there was an issue.
You get your own address rather than having to say apartment number 123.
Outside grounds were maintained very well and they did a great job with the landscaping.
The interiors are nice, but the materials are not the best quality which is expected since it is an apartment after all.
Nice location if you work in New York and don’t’ want to live in Jersey City! I thought the rent was decent considering the building was modern and you were next to a huge transits hub.
Tips:
The shuttle might be good for those who walk slow or hate exercise, but I found that it was inefficient and due to pickup locations it was not great for me. I found that biking to the station was sometimes faster.
Watch you, there is no real grocery store in Secaucus besides an extremely crowed WalMart. I did find a nice store that sold lots of fresh fruits and produce in the town of Secaucus.
If you do work in NJ and take the highway next to the Xchange, please add 5 minutes to your commute due to the huge onramp to the highway that is about two miles long. I think the onramp is so crazy long to avoid some burial grounds?

Ive been living here with my husband now for almost a year. It’s an apartment, so it has its pros and cons.
Cons:
1. First when I tried to call Leasing for more information no one would ever pick up. Okay not their fault i realized later, there are only 2 people working and it gets busy. But management should hire more people or voice mails should be returned. After no calls were being answered, i decided to take the train there (as it was my only mode of transportation at the time). I called from the train station as i did not know how to get around the bridge– no surprise, no pick up again, so i took a $ 8 taxi to the leasing center. When i finally go there, I was given a key to walk around myself (not helpful). I asked a tenant about how they liked living there and they actually took the time to show me around the apartment space (noting the space difference between apartment floors and the fixtures used). Before I left i explained the taxi situation to the leasing office and asked if i could use the shuttle to get back to the station. She gave me a condescending laugh before agreeing to allow me to have a pass. When i came a second time to show my husband, i called beforehand to make sure they would have time to show us around, surprisingly they answered. I explained i just wanted to make sure someone would have time to show me around and they basically took offense and raised their voice. I decided i will not have to deal with leasing after i sign a contract so went to show my husband the space. Thankfully we have not had to deal with anyone from leasing since.
2. It’s pricy –understandable for the location. Currently paying $ 2490 with the amenities.
3. Management just sound young and sends childish email notices about issues such as mentioned on another review.
Pros:
1. Walk or shuttle away from the train station
2. Community events
3. Clean
4. Right off the turnpike
5. Pond outside to run or walk near
6. Gym, pool table/​media room, gym, covered parking
7. Accepts packages
8. Covered parking
9. Broken issues are fixed in a timely manner
10. Internet savy (they post notices through email (including community events) and a phone app including having a phone app which works OKAY to show when the shuttle will be coming to and from the train station)
11. Quiet. I am on the first floor where pets are permitted and I rarely hear/​see any pets
12. Spacious/​storage
The pros do outweigh the cons. But unfortunately because of the rent we will be moving when our lease is up.

The property looks clean and nice. However, I’ve been calling from California and I can’t ever get anyone on the phone to inquire about the property. My call always goes to voice mail and NO ONE ever returns the call. They don’t even respond to emails. I started thinking that maybe there is no office since they’re so unresponsive. Well actually, when I stopped by while in town I found there is an office and there are indeed people working in there but what the hell could they be hiding… Oddly they keep the office door locked and have to buzz you in. They won’t let you take an application, but rather require you to complete the application there in the office. I don’t understand such a system.
Like I said the place is clean but comes with way too many fees. Fees to move in, fees to move out, amenity fees, and more fees. Ridiculous! You may as well just buy a spot and remodel it how you want it. I’m from northern California. I swear its so much easier to find a spacious clean affordable place there. Just look at what you get for the money in ANTIOCH, CA! No broker fees, no move in or move out fees, low deposits, newer looking single family homes, close to shopping centers, pets allowed, huge closets, free garages, in unit washer/​dryer, real kitchens, better looking bathrooms, front and backyards, close to the SAN FRANCISCO bay area, and the list could go on…

After living here for 8 months I can honestly say that it is over rated… for us personally. Here are some pros and cons to help anyone out there who is looking:
Pros
–Apartments that are brand new
–Washer and Dryer in every unit
–Stainless steel covered appliances and solid surfaces
–Decent size onsite Gym
–Doormen who are mostly nice and helpful
Cons:
–Choice of trucking company or construction site view… the trucks run all day everyday and will keep you up at night. It is the number 1 reason why we are counting down the days till our lease is up.
–The leasing office is of zero help once you sign. If you have any billing questions or requests, you need to call the main office where you might be on hold without a response forever or go to voicemail and never get a call back.
–It’s very transient and there is no sense of community. Oftentimes people won’t even respond when you say hi in an elevator!
–It takes a minimum of 15 minutes to either walk or take the shuttle to the train station so really, you can move somewhere better next to a train and have a better commute.
–Cheap builder grade carpet that looks worn out quickly even with no shoes in the house.
–long walk with your groceries and no carts for tenants
–There is a charge to move in and out which is really just a rip off.
-$ 50 «Amenity fee» per month for shuttle, gym and media room (TV never works!)
All in all, totally not worth the money and the entire experience is underwhelming.

My boyfriend and I recently left Manhattan for new adventures in… New Jersey. After months (literally) of searching for a new apartment in the city, we could never find exactly what we wanted.
After INTENSELY debating whether or not we wanted to venture out (but not too far) of Manhattan, we ended up in this luxury community with a mix of young hipsters, professionals, and young families.
It is right across the street from the Secaucus Junction train station, so we’re 10 minutes from Penn Station… not bad!
Our first thoughts are:
1. THERE IS SO MUCH SPACE FOR ACTIVITIES (refer to «Step Brothers»)
2. We have a balcony. YAY!
3. The apartment is brand new and we don’t have to worry about other people’s dirty feet on the carpets.
3. The concierge is so nice! They have all treated us kindly since we moved in… even when we came back from Wal-​Mart with 1,000 bags. They didn’t judge us, especially since we’re so new to the opportunity of buying in bulk without having to carry everything for ten blocks.
4. The gym is brand new, and the media room is super cool! A bunch of iMacs, new tv, couches, pool table… And everyone is so nice!
5. There is a shuttle every 15 minutes that takes you from the apartment to the train station, even though it’s a short 10 minute-​walk.
6. The 5000 building has a little shop with the essentials (milk, bread, sweets, cans of veggies, soups, ATM, etc.)
7. The community has a day-​care, a bar, a grocery store, a dry-​cleaner + laundry service, and a restaurant.
8. Every apartment has its own washer + dryer… so rare in Manhattan!
