Is this a 5-​star or a 0-​star? That IS the question! You decide:
On the way to Ellsworth, ME, the next stop on my fall trip to Maine, I decide to take the long way around, following the coast as much as possible.
By the time I make it to the vicinity of Sedwick, it’s almost one o’clock and I’m getting hungry. My mind was made up to eat a quick sandwich: I already had a beer in the cooler and some peanuts.
Of course, there are no sandwich shops to be seen, but I happen to drive past this establishment. Quick U-​turn, walk in: sure enough, they could make me a sandwich, but they also have some sandwiches already made. [I was offered today’s special, but I NEVER eat shop suey…]
I decide to try the seafood-​salad on whole-​wheat.
Upon my inquiring, the cashier responds with the information that there is «scenic lookout» on Caterpillar Hill, just five miles down the road.
To make long things short, the sandwich was so good that I felt I just had to post a review in Unilocal. There was just enough mayonnaise, the seafood salad really tasted like seafood, the whole-​wheat was firm, not mushy, etc.
I didn’t know how much the sandwich had cost, exactly (I am on a trip, after all!), and I decided to take a picture of the plastic container’s cover, so I’d have a record of the price.
That’s when I noticed the contents of my out-​of-​this-​world seafood sandwich: «Imitation sea leg».
– «IMITATION SEA LEG», I exclaimed!
– «What is this? Imitation chicken-​of-​the-​sea???»
(I’ve always been, even as a babe-​in-​arms, a BREAST man, myself.)
So there you have it. Deceived by tasty, flavourful imitation sea leg! So you decide if it was worth five or zero stars!
For the rest of my stay in ME, methinks I’ll steer clear of seafood sandwiches!
(By the way, the vista at the scenic lookout on Caterpillar Hill was absolutely superb! Take a look at the photo!)
