Nice place to spend some time with the kids, located only few miles from Sedona, they supply you with all the gear and the bait.
Kids will love this place especially if it’s the first time they are fishing. The pond is not big with lots of fish almost every time you get a fish, pay attention you pay for every fish and you cannot release them back, they will clean & ice them for you at a minimal charge.
Great time and few hours latter great dinner as well.

Let me just start by saying me and mine don’t fug around when it comes to fishing. However, a friend we were traveling with had a young daughter who had never fished and we came here for her. This place is perfect for little kids. I had never been to a fish farm but you literally just put your line in and pull up a fish, none of that pesky waiting stuff. At first glance the prices are ridiculously cheap but they don’t let catch and release so you have to pay for what you catch and the catching is just so easy that the bill adds up quickly. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful.

This was the best experience with the kids! We caught like 8 fish, they cleaned them and we cooked them on the grill! It was awesome! They supply the fishing poles, bait, nets & cooking utensils. You pay for the size of the fish. about $ 8-​$ 12 per fish. You must try if you come to Sedona!

So much fun! Definitely something you have to experience. Fantastic for kids. You dont need to have the patience of real fishing. Its super cheap to fish, just $ 1, but youre not able to throw the fish back due to risk of contamination and are pretty much guaranteed to catch one. Fish range from $ 8-​$ 13. You can also cook it there which adds to the experience. All the supplies are available for another dollar. Dogs are also allowed, provided they are leashed and friendly.

If you have not been to Sedona you are missing out. My son loves this trout farm, they got the best trought I’ve had in years, you can catch take home or cook right at the camp-​group, they provide you with everything you need, including garlic-​butter.

My family has come here twice. If you come on a busy weekend, you are kind’ve out of luck (literally) because the fish will be all fed by the many visitors. This can be discouraging. The first time we went, we had an amazing time and caught many fish. The second time, we went 4^th of July weekend and it was not as enjoyable because catching fish was a rarity.

Highly recommend this place for the family with a guaranteed catch.
Biggest tip — Beware of how many fish you catch because you pay for what you catch by size. Limit what you want to catch.
They provide fishing poles, bait, nets, and will clean and prepare all the fish that you catch. We caught 5 fish that ranged from 14 inches to 8 inches and had the clean and ice them for bringing them back to Phoenix and it ran $ 54.
It is a great time because you do not need a fishing license and you can catch as many as you want to pay for so if you have children they will catch some and get the thrill of a life time.
Great family fun for all ages and will leave such lasting memories.

My wife’s spirit guide told her to fish this season.
We saw the ad in the newspaper that gave us the rod, bait, and net for free. It turned out that was just a $ 1 discount, but it got us to the trout farm just north of town. The discount we were given at the end of the adventure was actually more than this.
I had not fished in my adult life before, so this was a treat. No license required — it’s a trout FARM. Hundreds of fish lurked in the bottomgrass waiting for the bait, which was a concoction that did have the consistency of play-​doh, but which the fish apparently found to be scrumptious. The hooks were little 3-​point terrors, but even so I found that many of the fish were adept at nibbling the bait without getting caught.
After learning a bit about the live critters by playing them on the hook, I found that if I gave them some time they would hook themselves. In an hour we had 4 in the bucket. I was sorry to say, the critters didn’t fancy dying, and the pain of being hooked was obvious. The upside was the staff knew how to clobber them to kill them instantly.
There was no way we could guarantee the size of the fish we caught, and no catch and release. So our 4 fish were cleaned and put on ice for us for about $ 38 + tip. Once we got home I realized these were every bit as big and as good as the ones we would have paid for at the supermarket, and I had a much closer relationship to these than to the carcasses we would find behind a counter.
Three choices were available for dealing with our catch: grill them at the farm, take them to Heartland Café to be transformed into a gourmet meal, or grill them at home. We chose the latter, and after 20 minutes of maximum blast in the back yard they became a dinner fit for a king. Although the little fishies are not swimming in the pond tonight, their flesh and souls are now happy and satisfied being me.

Skip it! The water is dyed blue… what’s that say?
I just have to laugh, because this is the kind of thing that just drives me nuts. I got a brochure for this place, and on the details it said «Our fish are a product of natural, artesian wells», with the words natural and fresh emphasized. Well, once you get here and walk around, you’ll see that the water is dyed BLUE, bright artificial blue dye in the water, it’s like animated blue. I’m pretty sure there is nothing natural or artesian about that. Living things that grow up and breed in dyes and chemicals are not natural or fresh, they have absorbed all that gunk and are now filled with that dye and chemicals. This isn’t nitpicking, it’s basic biology… an organism absorbs what surrounds it. So don’t expect fresh natural organic fish, because it ISN’T. This is blue dye pond water fish that are probably the same level of fresh as the fish in your local city park. I wouldn’t eat them, and after you look at the water they live in you tell me if you would too.
To the second point, this is NOT fishing. Fishing requires skill, reeling, angling, hooking, patience, and respect for nature. There are two ponds here, one big and one small. The big pond has less fish in it, is dyed super blue, and is generally for the adults. The small pond is in my opinion cruel and unfair. It is literally shooting fish in a barrel. The small pond must have 500 trout in a tiny circle, there is no way NOT to catch one, so it’s a way for little kids and non-​fishermen to catch a fish and feel accomplished. I say it’s cruel because the fish are jam packed into a tiny little hole, they don’t even have a chance to fight you, and anyone can grab them right out of the water if they reached down. The fish don’t have a sporting chance, they are just culled with no effort and I call BS on that.
Any respectable hunter or fisherman knows that without sport, without some kind of challenge or sport, it isn’t real. And that’s what you’ll see here, people who’ve never fished before, city slickers and tourists who don’t respect nature, and just want to take a picture of their kid with a trout in their hand they didn’t even have to try to catch.
The surroundings are beautiful, the location is beautiful, I mean it’s sedona, the whole damn place is beautiful… but this place needs to act like it’s natural surroundings!
STOP DYEING THE WATER BLUE!!! Seriously… You are located in Sedona, surrounded by pine forests and streams, fresh clean mountain air, why can’t you guys just let nature be nature and stop messing with it. There are ways to filter and maintain water without using chemicals and junk… this is just lazy and ridiculous and defeats the whole «natural» marketing you are promoting.
I know it’s a tourist stop, I know it’s for kids and parents to take pictures, but seriously make it a challenge, make people respect nature instead of thinking «I’ll just reach in a 1 foot deep pond and kill 100 fish because I can and it’s easy.»
It sounds kinda-​sorta fun on the brochure, but when you get there it’s small and unimpressive. SKIP IT. take your kids to slide rock or bootlegger, swim and interact with REAL nature and make them appreciate it.

You will enjoy fishing here if you have no respect for life. They do not provide you with a humane way to end the fish’s misery. If I needed to bring my own supplies I would take my family to do some real fishing.
That brings me to another point. They give you a bamboo rod with a line tied to the end, and some unidentifiable «bait» that looks, feels, and smells more like Play-​Doh. If you don’t fish, this place is perfect. I, however, had to relearn how to fish. You cannot cast more than a few feet ahead of you and doing so is more of an underhand swing as opposed to actually casting.
The ponds are very small. With your minimal accuracy as a result of the low quality rods, expect to catch algae. What really bothered was the fact that they dye the pond. At first, I thought the blue hue was just a coincidence, but then a guy comes by, pours a fluid into a tube, and all of the sudden the fountains are spouting deep blue water. The artificial blue dyes approved by the FDA are linked to cancer in animals, behavior problems in children, and allergies.
This does not get one star because it is sufficiently entertaining for most people. The rest of my family enjoyed it. We chose to bring the fish home, but they have grills and cleaning for a fee. I don’t know how well the fish taste because they are problem not that safe to consume after living in the dyed water. The lactic acid produced when stressed will probably make the fish taste subpar.

This place is really fun for kids and adults alike.
Contrary to other reviews, the fish didn’t bite immediately as I put my rod in, it probably took us each about half an hour to catch a fish, and it seemed like everyone around us was taking about as long too. The water was well stocked, though.
$ 1 gets you bait, a hook and line, and a bucket to put your fish in. You pay for your fish depending on how long they are, the price starts at $ 8 and goes to $ 13 per fish.
Once you catch as many fish as you want, you can get them cleaned and gutted for $ 1 each. We live a few minutes up the road in Flagstaff and opted to have our fish put on ice for another $ 1 so we could cook them at our own house, although BBQ and basic cooking supplies are available on site.
Really tasty fish!

after all the good reviews here our group decided to give it a try. wow first time i actually caught a decent size fish! everytime we put a bait in, we got something. it was fun and the fishes were good! howevr nxt time im going to use the foil to cook them., it might have been easier

I wish we came here earlier during our trip instead of stopping by as we were leaving Sedona. This place is SO COOL! They have two huge ponds full of rainbow trouts. You can fish up as many as you want, then pay $ 8 per trout and a few extra dollars for a grill and have grilled fish right there! The place is sunny, clean and shady; it’s a perfect environment to fish up a few trouts and have a picnic. There were many families with children there and everyone seemed to have a great time fishing.
If you don’t want to eat your fish, you can trade it in and bring home a smoked trout. I wish I knew this!!!
Make sure to stop by here during your Sedona trip. It’s a must!!!

Passed by this place twice on other vacations but wasn’t able to convince my friends or bf to make a stop. My parents are much less immune to my pleas and made a stop on our visit to Sedona.
We had a coupon from the visitor center for free bait and gear so all we had to do was pay for the fish that we caught. It really isn’t so much fishing here as it is shooting fish in a barrel. The fish are really hungry and bite as soon as you throw the line in. It’s a little scary to get the hook out when the trout is flailing around. My sister was a beast and was able to grab the fish and pull the hook out.
We caught two fish that were around 12 inches each and it was about $ 20 including them prepping the food and cooking stuff. The fish were delicious and the whole family had a wonderful time!

What a beautiful place. I was taken aback by the beautiful river and the awesome staff. We caught a monster 18 inch trout that we were told was one of 2, we got lucky.
We also took advantage of the grills and cooked up our amazing fish. They truly are delicious!!!

This place is a hidden gem for families with children.
Manager, Chris, grew up between San Fernando Valley and nearby Arizona. Currently, he is the only employee due to the slower season. Chris is also very friendly and helpful.
Best overall experience is to catch the fish and grill it on location. The fish here is cheaper than what I can get frozen at my local supermarkets.
The Rainbow Trout Farm has everything you need for a fun, relaxing and inexpensive outing plus meal. They recommend that the fish is wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked 10 minutes each side on the grill. Ours came out well and it a good tasting healthy meal.

Wow. The extra mile that places in the continental us will go for its customer can be mind-​blowing to this Hawaii-​girl, where often the attitude is take it or leave it.
Anyways…, So this place lets you catch you’re own trout. You pay $ 1.00 they give you bait, a bucket and a hook remover. At no cost, you grab a pole and a net. If you run out of bait (impossible) they’ll give you more. You can pretty much see the fish swimming right there, so it’s like picking up a filet at the supermarket.
Then you pay based on size of the fish. $ 8 – 12 for fishes 8−16″. They’ll clean the fish for you for $ 0.50 a fish. If you didn’t bring your grilling spices with you, they have a kit for $ 1.00. They provide the grills and the picnic tables.
Fresh grilled fish in less than… actually I don’t know how long it takes to grill trout so I’m guessing from walking on the premises to getting the fish on the grill, 30 minutes. There were families with all the sides and fixings picnicking out there. It was beautiful with all the rose bushes surrounding the site, settled in a valley.
Okay, so here is the above and beyond. If you are like us and happen across this place after you have already eaten, you can trade the fish that you have caught for smoked trout that the have frozen. Really. We traded our 2 fish for 2 smoked, we paid $ 11. Being used to being ripped off by «deals» in tourist traps, I did the math. Our 8″ & 10″ fish would have costed us $ 19. Smoked trout was $ 15 each. We paid $ 11 and we have fish we can eat later vs paying $ 19 for fish that may or may not have been able to survive the road trip home. Deal.
