This place is amazing. It is it is by far the best place for barbecue in Selma. The staff is very friendly and food arrived quickly.

Spent two days in Selma and everyone we asked said«Lannie’s is the best ribs in town!» After my visit there, I must agree! I promised to give a couple of ribs to the gal at my hotel, and I did so… reluctantly! I could have eaten them all! I suppose many patrons have to spend time after eating their ribs, repenting of gluttony! I sure did! I hope we get to come back to Selma again someday(from Ca.). You know where we’ll be eating!

Took my mom here who is visiting the South from Oregon. We weren’t disappointed with the delicious fried green tomatoes, okra, greens… She’s not into meat, but enjoyed a few bites of a cracklin bbq sandwich. The pies were really good too, and I know my lemon merengue.

I love BBQ. Eat it everywhere I go and can honestly say this ranks in the top. Best part of my one time experience I had here was meeting the owner, hearing his story on opening his second location in town and then having him bring me a new item to the menu to sample, fresh fried pork skins with BBQ sauce. Solid. Highly recommend this place if you like good BBQ off the beaten path.

Loved this place enough to eat here twice in the week we were in Selma. Friendly place, with Earl the owner there both times. Fried okra and tomatoes were fantastic. BBQ sauce is vinegar based(not sweet) and has a little bite, but that’s how I love it. Not the thick super sweet molasses sauce you might be used to. Also, loved the peach tea, and the coconut cake.

We drove to Selma a little hungry, and we’re glad we trusted the GPS directions to Lannie’s. The ribs, chicken and swampburger were amazing, if more than we could handle. The staff and clientele were all warm and good-spirited, but we barely beat a Saturday lunch rush at 1:30. Folks who called in ahead were in and out much sooner. Those ribs FELL into my mouth. And that burger? Obscenely large and delicious. And, there’s a liter of iced tea. Oh, don’t bother with a side. You won’t have room. There’s ample parking in the dirt lot next door. My ride was a little concerned about his car, but the neighbors waved from their porch, so I think he was much safer here than in the Gump.

Lannie’s is legendary Selma BBQ. I grew up in Selma, so I still have fond memories of visiting the #1 location on Minter. I remember the smoky room, the fiery pit behind the counter, and the juke box in the right corner. Having moved to Texas my taste for BBQ has changed, but I still visit Lannie’s if for nothing more than tradition. Now for my adult take on the food. On this visit we got take-out: ribs, pulled pork, fried catfish, baked beans, and cole slaw. My biggest reaction to the food was…“Wow this is all really sweet!” The baked beans, cole slaw and BBQ sauce were very sweet… a bit too sweet for my current taste. The ribs and pulled pork had a nice taste but needed the sauce(which was quite runny) to really be acceptable. The catfish probably had the best taste of the meats. It was fried a little too hard for me but was tasty. I guess I’ve just gotten accustomed to TXBBQ, but will always return to Lannie’s when in Selma. Next time I’ll go with da fish sammich.

Different BBQ then I’ve had elsewhere. The sauce was fairly thin and reminded me quite a bit of louisiana style hot sauce. I got a good ½ chicken on my plate too. The fried Okra was hot and fresh, and had not been previously frozen. The baked beans were in a nice thicky spicy sauce and were cooked with what I believe was bacon, or some other pork product. The bun was average, but nice to have to sop up the extra sauce on my plate from both the beans and the chicken. I believe they also had a few items such as chef salads and sandwiches for take out. The sign outside also advertised that they were available for catering, and had a room you could rent out for events. Everyone there was related and a few adorable kids told me how their gramma was the one that cooked me dinner, and how they were going to get ice cream when they were done visiting her.

The best BBQ in the country! I’m a pescatarian now so I get the fish sandwich and it is delicious as well!
