Nice little library. It’s a small library in a small town. A few computers and a small selection of books. It’s super easy to request books however from all over Fresno. I’m so happy to have a library in town and not have to drive to Fresno for one. The staff is nice and knowledgable.

If you’re a bookworm like I am, then you can grow a little attached to your neighborhood library. And, thank goodness for me, my neighborhood provided a welcoming and helpful library which I enjoy visiting. I’ve been coming here for years and hardly anything has changed, except the addition of many computers and one or two new staff members. It has the standard technology: computers/free internet you can book for up to an hour, printers(10 cents per page), copy machine, all that good stuff. Its book selection can be a little on the modest side, but requesting stuff in is easy. It’s got a meeting room in the back that’s pretty sizable. So, yes, a lot like other libraries, but… What I really find genuine about this place is the look and feel you get as soon as you step inside. It’s not the blindingly fluorescent, cyborg-staffed, frustratingly hard to navigate haystack that other libraries I’ve been to can be(and I, nerd extraordinaire, have been to many.) The dimmed lighting and a cabin-y décor makes it comforting and warm, the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, and it’s not too big so easy to search and locate. It has a nice park in front if you feel like taking your reading outside. The only downside I can think of is the punks who come in to «do homework» and can’t seem to keep their laughing down. But that might just be the librarian in me talking and it probably happens at every library in the US. And in their defense, there really is little to do in a town like Selma. Now, I know people are not going to drive miles to go to this library just because I gave it good reviews. Everyone goes to the closest one they have; but this is just to show my appreciation for the place that was literally my haven during high school. Let’s hope the next one I’ll be forced to go to when I move is as nice as this one.
