Located on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in sunny Sequim, Washington, the Juan de Fuca Cottages and Suites are perched on a 50′ bluff at the edge of Dungeness Bay with our own private beach. The Juan de Fuca Cottages and Suites offer spectacular views of the Dungeness Spit, the New Dungeness Lighthouse, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hurricane Ridge, the Olympic Mountains, and Victoria, B.C., just across the water. We share our beach with the National Wildlife Refuge.

Wireless Internet Access with a View. All of our cottages have Queen beds, completely equipped kitchens, whirlpool tubs/​shower with skylights, CD player, cable TV, VCR and over 200 classic movies to entertain you, as you receive your E-​Mail. The suites each enjoy all of the above as well as a fireplace and a two-​person whirlpool tub.

History

Established in 1916.

In May of 2006 Tom and Missy Rief became the new proprietors and have a vision for the Cottages which include maintaining the high standards already set as well as adding more amenities and luxuries with time. Today we have kayak rentals on site to explore Dungeness Bay and the New Dungeness Lighthouse. You can rent a bicycle here and explore the farmlands, lavender fields or the Olympic Discovery Trail which runs for over 50 miles! This winter we started renting snowshoes for wonderful adventures up at Hurricane Ridge!

In 2010 a meeting space — the Dungeness Bay Lodge was completed. The Lodge can hold 64 people at round tables — with a kitchen, 2 fireplaces and picture windows facing both the mountains and the water, the Lodge makes a great location for retreats, weddings and family reunions.

Just celebrating our fourth anniversary as «Innkeepers» at the Juan de Fuca Cottages. We love our business and our guests. An ideal location to work and to raise our family of four children. While our oldest son with special needs and our daughter help with the cleaning, laundry and front desk, our middle son helped build several projects on the property and our youngest son runs the kayak business on our beach. Welcome to one of the driest locations in the NW with views of both the Olympic Mountains and The Straits of Juan de Fuca — we have a relaxing sunset just waiting at your cottage doorstep!

We stayed here on a whim after we got tired of camping. It was absolutely perfect. The rooms were very quaint and even had a fire place. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We saw several deer as we were sitting on our our patio on the Adirondack chairs. This was only surpassed by the views of the mountains and bay. Highly recommend!

Recently I stayed at Juan de Fuca Cottages for two nights. The unit was small but just right with a wonderful view of Dungeness Bay and the natural beauty of a quiet residential community north of downtown Sequim. Everything was clean, tidy, and the in room coffee delicious. The staff was gracious and the fresh cookies offered at checkout reasons to return to this delightful, relaxing location.

My wife and I stayed here at Juan De Fuca, in their Hideaway Cottage for two nights in late March. Staff was very helpful, cottage was clean, comfortable and with a small kitchenette, exactly what we needed. Nights were very quiet and peaceful.
Location for the area is prime and the 12 mile hike (round-​trip) to the Dungeness lighthouse is highly recommended. Nash’s produce & farm store nearby is also worth a visit, (nice produce & products.) If you’re looking for charming, clean & quiet accommodations that are a break from the «take-​your-​money and run» hotel chains, then give this place a try. You’ll be glad you did.
We will be back for another stay.

Very cute cottages! Great location and view if you catch it on a clear weekend. We stayed at the Eagles Nest which is just around the corner from the main property and it was lovely. Very clean and it was great to have a kitchenette to keep food and snacks in. I would highly recommend staying here for any type of getaway!

What a great place… so incredibly clean and comfortable! The quiet location was so enjoyable in addition to being convenient to the locations we wanted to explore. Most impressive was the staff person who met us on our arrival. She could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Rarely have I had such an enjoyable accommodations experience.

My entire family stayed here for a wedding and the staff could not have been more unwelcoming. Every request or inquiry was answered with unavailability and rude behavior. No assistance was given to help us with any use of the space, not setup, preparation, or cleanup afterwards! Afterwards, they kept our deposit without giving us any reason why and ignored all our attempts to contact them for an explanation.
They very much upset the entire wedding party!

These cottages are owned and operated by long time friends Tom and Missy who are wonderful people and great hosts! My husband and I have come here twice now for anniversary weekend trips. We have loved staying here and I would recommend it highly.
The surroundings are so beautiful and there’s a lot to see. The Game Farm, the Dungeness Spit, and hiking on Hurricane Ridge, to name a few. We also took a day trip to the Hoh Rainforest, which was amazing. We did some kayaking in the bay right in front of the cottages, too. There are several great restaurants in Sequim, and Tom and Missy can recommend anything you’re looking for.
The rooms and kitchens are well equipped, comfortable, and the area is very quiet. There is a binder with lots of information and suggestions about the area.
Definitely give these lovely cottages a try!

Immaculate cottages! Friendly, laid-​back staff. Very peaceful location. I cannot say just how pleasantly surprised we were at the quality of the accommodations and the styling of the rooms. This would be an excellent location for a bridal party/​wedding or a corporate retreat.
My husband and I stayed for two nights when desperately needing a getaway. The Cottages fit the bill!

We couldn’t have selected a better place to stay. These cottages have the perfect location! After a lovely drive up there, we were greeted by a very friendly staff member who suggested a great place for dinner and suggested that we take advantage of the private beach to watch the sunset.
The cottage itself was pretty amazing! The book in the room gave history on the cottages and Sequim — that was one of the things my boyfriend liked best. The kitchen was fully stocked with pretty much anything you would need to cook a great meal. Then there was the Jacuzzi tub with the skylight above it!!! Not only was the tub amazing in itself, but they provided some really good shampoo, conditioner & body wash.
A little pricey if you are on a travel budget, but it was quiet and amazing and I wish I could have spent more time there.

What a lovely Inn! The views are unbelievable! From our room, we watched many fishing boats, sailboats, ferries and other large ships go by. At night you can see the city lights of Victoria, B.C. There is also the Lighthouse on the Split and a National Wildlife Refuge nearby. Eagles love this shoreline! We had three and four at a time, flying right outside our window. Room is cozy, quiet and clean. There is a microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker. We opted for the breakfast delivered to our room. Good and hearty meal. Great for saving some time. For dinner there are many good restaurants, within driving distance. We really enjoyed DUPUIS Seafood for dinner. Port Angeles (Ferry Service) is about 15 minutes away. We highly recommend and will be returning.

The proprietors of Juan de Fuca cottages do it perfectly. I’ve stayed in:
–A cottage at the Ester Lee Motel in Lincoln City, OR (GREAT ocean view, horribly dark, dank cottage);
–A Valley View Motel cottage outside Port Townsend, WA (bleak and overpriced at $ 80 per night in October); and
–An Akari Bungalow cottage in Long Beach, WA (tasteful and imaginatively modern and well-​situated but connected to the bungalow next door by a backstop that ran behind the building so that I heard my neighbors and their kids thumping and clattering around all night long).
Juan de Fuca Cottages is simply better than the others.
EVERYthing is attended to. The welcome they extend is warm, good humored, and sincere. The cottage was spotlessly pristine. Attention had been paid to every single detail, even the one thing that always bothers me when I stay in a hotel or a motel: the shampoo, conditioner, and bath/​shower soap they provide is in large containers so you don’t have to use a tiny bottle or piece of soap once or twice and then choose between taking the remainder home or feeling bad about the waste of all that packaging.
The kitchen has all the utensils you need to do light cooking (bottle openers, nut crackers, can openers, serving spoons, etc., dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker). They provide a bathrobe. They have skylights in both the main room and one over the tub.
If you order the hot breakfast, it is delivered by hand in a basket and it’s bountiful, pretty, and really tasty. The DVD library is large (although fans of shoot-​em-​ups might be disappointed) and it runs on the honor system. My cottage had a spectacular mountain view out of the windows on one side and a water view over to Victoria, BC, Canada, on the other. I slept in complete silence, something I never get at home in Seattle, and found parks in which to walk to my heart’s content within easy driving distance.
Really, this is the place. I’m absolutely sold on it and will definitely return.

My partner and I just spent a fantastic weekend at Juan de Fuca Cottages. We got a Lodge room with a Groupon deal.
Our minds were instantly blown upon unlocking the sliding door to our accommodation. The room was tastefully appointed. No cheesy wall-​mounted headboard for the bed. Many pillows. Pretty bedding. Thick and plush shag carpeting. Fireplace. Flat-​screen TV. Modern furniture. We were also delighted to find little personal touches here and there to make the room feel even more homely – the handwritten welcome note on one of the nightstands, the provision of utensils and beverages on the sturdy writing desk, etc.
The bathroom took our breaths away: we loved the skylight directly above the Jacuzzi tub! Jumbo-​sized toiletries, too!
We had an amazing time in Sequim. Calling Juan de Fuca Cottages «home» for a couple of days was delightful. A huge thank-​you to the staff for the warm welcome and making our first ever stay here an outstanding one. We cannot wait to come back! :)

Warm and comfortable but the interiors are a bit dated. Appreciated the full kitchen as well. Internet access was a bit spotty, so prepare to be off line a bit. We didn’t see much of the staff, so we had to call if we needed anything or had questions. Overall, we enjoyed the stay, but I felt the price /​value ratio was a bit off.

The Juan De Fuca Cottaged exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, the customer service was friendly and attentive. The views from the cottages were breathtaking and the room (the Lavender room) was cozy and clean. We were impressed by the comfort of the bed and the amenities in the kitchen. Each room had a skylight, too. We had our own porch with adirondack chair, but we spent most of our time in the gazebo, which helped us to occupy our 2 year old. If we were staying longer, we may have taken advantage of the free movies in the office, or the breakfast delivered to the room. Also, we were there during the off season and did not get to take advantage of the kayak or bike rentals. We will, for sure, be coming back and will happily stay here.

My husband and I bought the Groupon for this place (stayed on a Friday and Saturday night at the K&K Cottage), and we had an incredible time. Probably one of the best weekend getaways we’ve ever had.
Cottage:
The cottage was lovely — a small standalone studio with high ceilings and lots of windows, a Queen sized bed, (tiny) TV, bathroom, a sauna AND a hot tub, and a mini-​kitchen (half sized-​fridge, microwave and sink). We brought our dog with us and he loved it as much as we did. To the rear of the cottage is a big lawn and a llama farm! The llamas are super friendly and our dog loved sticking his nose through the gate to lick them. To the front of the cottage is a view across the Straight of Juan de Fuca. When it was clear on Saturday we could see all the way to Victoria. On Friday we snuggled in bed and watched a lightening storm move across the bay. So beautiful.
Food:
We brought dinners and lunches with us, and just reheated them in the microwave. We ordered their «Breakfast in a Basket» deal, which was awesome — the gal brought us scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurts, fruit and baked pastries at 9am both mornings and it was delicious.
Activities:
Our Groupon came with two kayak rentals. The bay is perfect for kayaking — really peaceful and there’s plenty of wildlife to see as you paddle around. Also there’s some great tide pooling. On Saturday we drove up to Hurricane Ridge and walked around a bit. It’s only about 25 – 30 mins drive away and it’s gorgeous — definitely worth the trip. Be warned they don’t allow dogs on the trails. About 5 minutes from the cottage is a Wild Game Farm — you drive through their grounds in your car and llamas, elk, bison and deer come right up to your car and eat bread out of your hands. We loved that. Besides that, we just relaxed, sat in the hot tub, read books, went for walks (lots of lavender blooming this time of year) and drank wine.
We’ll definitely be coming back. So will our dog; I think he misses the llamas. :-)

I bought a Groupon for a 2 night weekend stay at the Juan De Fuca Cottages and with blind faith, and packed the car for a weekend getaway. It was a fantastic/​relaxing experience! If you are an overplanner (like me!) and must complete the encyclopedia with full research of a vacation spot before leaving, rest assured that this spot will not disappoint and have all of the amenities that are necessary. Our room was clean and cozy with a fireplace, firewood, fridge, microwave, cable tv, a expansive selection of movies (and VHS :)), coffee maker and additional amenities. The cottages are extremely well maintained with lots of privacy between cottages to ensure a great experience. Beautiful views of the bay (check out the sunset) and the mountains just from the room.
We also took advantage of the onsite activities including kayaking and biking into Sequim to get some coffee in the morning. We were definitely running on our own schedule (missing reservations) and Tom and Missy were super understanding and helped to accommodate our schedules. They were always looking for ways to make our stay more enjoyable recommending fantastic brunch places and wineries to visit.
The Dungeness Spit is a short drive as well as Hurricane Ridge. I suggest that everyone take the 5mile hike to the LightHouse as it’s truly a beautiful spot! Lots of amazing views and fresh air for those looking for a city getaway.

We are traveling across the country in a converted van and met some friends in Washington. This establishment is very nice with a beautiful view of the water and the Dungeness Spit. The property is well maintained and attractive.
However.
They could use some work on their customer service. Our friends paid $ 220 for their two bedroom cottage and arrived in only one car. We made the unfortunate mistake of asking them if we could park in the second space overnight (we sleep in the van) and were informed that it would cost us $ 35 to do so.
Let’s put this in perspective:
Campgrounds: $ 15/​night
KOA: $ 30/​night
The privilege of parking in the Juan de Fuca Cottages parking lot: $ 35/​night
The cost of crappy customer service and stupid policies? Minus 4 stars.
Businesses need to learn that customer service can really make or break an experience. Up to that point, we were having a lovely time with our friends. One poor experience has soured our memory and has initiated their history on Unilocal with a negative review.
