Nurturing Hanz Therapeutic Massage

Literally the WORST experience ever! I bought a Groupon for a couples’ massage for my husband’s birthday. First of all, when I called to book (immediately after purchasing), they said they were completely booked for a month, but that I could just take the next available appointment (even if it wasn’t a convenient date or time) and be placed on the wait list for a cancellation. When I called back about two weeks later, they said that I had never been given an appointment time at all and that there had been no cancellations, but they would be happy to book me an appointment– another MONTH out! So finally the date rolls around (a month after my husband’s birthday) and we live about 45 mins away from the place, but I had planned a whole night out and we had a babysitter. We arrive at the location– no signage out front, on the marquee or anywhere else, but I found it by gps. We get in the elevator and press «2», only to find that the elevator is completely shut down– turned off by whomever rents the second floor. I am flooded by mere panic and frustration, as this turns into a birthday nightmare. I head up the stairwell, only to find the second floor locked up tighter than a drum. Call Nurturing Hanz– no answer! Circle the building and see a «FOR LEASE» sign hanging, and immediately assume that because I had a 6 pm appointment, and they are nowhere to be found, the only logical explanation is that they must have gone out of business. So I call Groupon for a refund.
Flash forward to the next morning and I wake up to a message from the spa saying to please call them back ASAP. I call and reach a woman at the front desk and promptly explain everything that had happened the night before. She apologizes and then proceeds to tell me that she was unaware of what exactly transpired, but that there had been an emergency and the spa had closed early without warning. Although upset, I was understanding, and asked when we could reschedule. She then proceeds to give me dates ANOTHER MONTH FROM NOW!!! I calmly replied to her «I completely understand that what happened last night was not your fault, and I’m sorry, but, being as I am the one who was inconvenienced, I would like to be made a priority and put back on your schedule much sooner than August.» To which she replies, and I quote: «Well, we do have other clients. You should probably just call Groupon and get your money back then».
I kid you not. I have never received such dismal customer service in my life, nor such a nonchalant response to losing business. I will NEVER do business here, and I caution you against it as well. I never take the time to write reviews, but I felt it was more than warranted after such an experience.

The WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Beth at the front desk should be fired. It took me 4 months to even get an appointment at this place. On the way to our appointment we hit terrible traffic. I called to let them know we were running late but on the way. When we got there we were told that we would not receive the full massage and they also would not refund our money because we didn’t give a 24 hour notice. How would I have given a 24 hour notice when we were at the appointment but a few minutes late from traffic? I just had a baby at the end of March and was very excited about this massage. However, they made me pay for a babysitter and the massage that I did not even receive. Terrible experience.

I was given a Groupon as a gift. I arrived for my massage, and the receptionist was very nice. My therapist, Rene, came out to get me and he was wonderful from beginning to end. His technique was amazing! I felt like a floating puddle afterward. I will return and I will request him each time.

Went here because of a groupon I found. It was a great deal for a couples massage. They were pretty booked but we got our appointment just in time! I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. The lady at the front desk was also very nice!

I purchased a Groupon and immediately called to schedule once it was available. It took us a bit to coordinate our schedules so the massage was about two weeks after my initial call, but it was worth the wait! Brian was my therapist and his technique/​pressure were fantastic. I usually prefer female therapists but realized that I specify that when making the appointment. I wasn’t uncomfortable at all though, and his calm personality put me totally at ease. I made it clear that I don’t like light touches and preferred a medium to firm stroke. Also, I was a little chilly so he took his time adjusting the temperature of the bed and the room to meet my needs. The establishment itself is inviting up front but some of the rooms are a little sparse. I had no problems using my Groupon and did not feel pushed at all to schedule another massage. She asked and I politely declined since I have another gift certificate that I received for Christmas and will use that before booking any further appointments. I would definitely return!

Went the first time after using the Groupon and was satisfactory but not azazing. Prior to leaving the receptionist focused on selling me on another massage. Dispight me saying no thank you she persisted in offering a great price but I had to schedule and pay ahead of time. After 2 months past, my date approached and and I of course had forgotten. However no attempt was made to contact me by email or by phone. I then contacted them when I got back in town about scheduling another date. I was then told that I was a no show and I would have to pay full price for another massage. I then question why I paying additional when no one attempted to contact me at which point she became rude and also made it to see you made me feel as if it was my fault and my responsibility. I told her to just give me a refund and she said no that’s not possible. Ok so then schedule me for next week. She said okay I’m going to need your credit card information. I said well I don’t want to give it to you up front anymore I’ll pay when I get there. She then rudely said well then just call me back when you’re ready to come in goodbye. I do not recommend anyone go over there nor will I ever recommend someone to go there for mediocre service and poor customer service.

My boyfriend and I came in for a couples massage. We got stuck in traffic and arrived late, but then had to wait several minutes for the massage to begin. We knew our late arrival would cut into our time, even though there were not appointments after us. We came in again and were on time, but had to wait for the therapists. They started about 10 minutes after we arrived and ended 5 minutes before our hour was over. Don’t advertise a 60 minute massage when it’s really 45. The therapists were good, but the time is an issue for us.

So If you like deep tissue then I highly recommend devin. I actually give him 5 stars and the spa itself four stars, as it could use a little TLC in the atmosphere department… overall I will be going back to see devin

I have been to nurturing hanz twice now and both experiences were great!
Bought a couples massage off groupon. Had no problems making an appointment. Unfortunately my boyfriend was not able to attend the couples massage but the staff quickly accomadeted me and didnt make it a big deal that the plans changed last minute. (Still tipped both therapists.. not the therapists fault to lose out on a tip when they were expecting a client for that hour)
My first massage was all over including my legs since I serve tables part time. It was glorious! And the time did go by quickly but I did occupy the full hour of the therapists time. Its understandable that the consultation would consume a miniscule amount of time and is part of the experience. Narrowing down what parts of the body need to be worked and focused on.
After my extremely relaxing massage (unfortunately I cannot remember the therspists name) I made a second appointment for myself.
This time I had Devin as my therapist and he was amazing! I had injured my back the week before and he worked so many muscles and kinks out! It was deep tissue and he focused all of the time on my back. Euphoric would be a great term to describe the experience.
As for tipping I loved that they had a suggested tip guide. If you cannot afford to tip then you shouldn’t be getting the service! The therapists are utilizing their whole bodies when working.
My only two complaints are that the ambiance could be better but i do believe they just moved to a new location so they could still be working on it. 2^nd I wish they offered facials!

The massage was great. I read online that they cut your massage short and I think that is due to the paper work you have to do. My boyfriend and I got a couples massage and I had him do the paperwork with me before hand. It was over all great. I used a groupon so it wasn’t too expensive. Over all I loved it.

I found this place through a Groupon while home on R&R and am so glad. Pradesh (I hope I spelled that right) was amazing and truly gave me a totally customized massage. I suffer from tension headaches and my head neck and shoulder muscles are in bad shape, so he focused the entire session in that area and instead of the normal Swedish massage moves, he carefully felt all the muscles and was able to immediately find the areas causing the problems and worked out all the tension. Guy has magic hands and is a genius. I can’t wait to go back. Check in was quick and friendly, the waiting area tranquil. The heated massage table alone gets you starting to relax immediately.

Ruth has been my massage therapist for 2 ½ years and I think she is wonderful.
I followed her from Massage Envy and was delighted when she opened her own shop. She always seems to know exactly where I need the most attention and she definitely knows how to reduce the tension and stress I am feeling.
I would highly recommend her.

Went there to redeem a mother’s day present living social. It was difficult to make an appointment. No one answers the phone. I left one message and it was not until a second angry message that they called me back and made an appointment.
The receptionist was very nice and my masseuse was waiting for me when I arrived. She asked me how I wanted to customize it, was very good and I couldn’t believe the hour was up so fast.
I’d go again if it weren’t so far away from me and if it weren’t so expensive! But totally worth it with the living social.

It’s getting really expensive with the tips. They have the same tip rate as Massage Envy because Ruth used to work there. Just tips alone, the massage therapist earns more than me at an hourly rate. I had massage a couple of times and my last session will be this month but pardon, this got to stop going here. There is a better alternative. I can’t get to justify the tipping at 20%-25% range for no amenities and ambience of a real spa.

I love Ruth! I was having referral pain in my bicep from lazy shoulder muscles and Ruth was able to get at the knots so well to stop the pain. She has very strong hands and knows all the right points.

Went to my first massage with Nurturing Hanz and was very happy with the experience. It was a very warm and inviting atmosphere. The people were very pleasant and professional. The massage itself was great!

Used a groupon, supposed to be for 60 minutes, massage was only for 45 minutes. The massage therapist seemed to be very new. I get massages once a month, and wanted to try a new place. Don’t think I’ll be returning.

I scheduled the appointment via email. It was a back and forth converstation with Ruth. I had scheduled a Saturday appointment for 12. I asked if it could be 2 hours. She said they don’t have coupons for 2 hours. I said I didn’t think you would. 12 on Saturday for a two hour couples massage works for me. She replied basically repeating the same information back to me. In my eyes that is a confirmation of the appointment. My finace’ and I showed up with 8 minutes to spare. The doors were locked, the open sign was not turned on, and their sign on the door indicated they were suppose to be open. As we sat in our car calling around for another massage parlor we noticed one person ended up showing up and opening up shop. I was so furious at that point I just wanted to leave. Ruth called a couple of times and emailed me claiming to have reread the email conversations and not seeing where we confirmed the appointment. I will never go back. I felt this location was horrible and the experience was unprofessional at best. Well-​Being spa in Columbia was a waaayyyy better choice.

I purchased a Groupon for 1 customized massage at Nurturing Hanz. I was unsure of the place once I arrived due to the location being in a strip mall type set up, but you know the saying «dont judge a book by it’s cover». I walked up the steps and entered Nurturing Hanz– the inside was a lovely, very relaxing setting. The front desk receptionst was kind and professional. The massage was pretty good. 3 stars
