The Resort at Governor’s Crossing

This resort was perfect for our trip. We had 2 families with 5 adults and 4 teens and the condo accommodated us. We weren’t living in luxury, but it was clean, roomy, and we had a private balcony. The pool areas were the best part– we were able to have just as much fun there as we were at Dollywood. This place is perfect if you want something fun, simple and affordable. Between the pools and the arcade, shuffleboard and mini golf, there’s always something to do. Plus the staff at the front desk was always BEYOND nice and helpful, every single time.

This was our first stay at the Resort at Governor’s Crossing. Perfect for our kiddos too. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The front desk was really helpful during our stay. We checked out with Sally, who also made a great final impression. We would stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed for one night on our way back to the beach and quite enjoyed ourselves. These are condos, so ours was a two bedroom, two bath that had a small living room and kitchen area. Once we were able to check-​in the room was clean, updated, and well-​kept. I did found it rather annoying that even though check-​in was at 4pm and we arrived at 3:50pm they wouldn’t let us check-​in to the room. We did finally get a call from them around 4:30pm to let us know the room was finally ready. I get being behind, but with it being a Saturday night and end of summer they should have prepared better for the amount of people they had coming in.
One reason we choose this hotel over others was because of the water park, but I wouldn’t call this a water park by any means. It does have a small indoor and outdoor water area, but nothing like a water park. The outdoor area has a toddler area, small pool with a slide and something the kids can walk on and fall into the water, a very small lazy river, and a hot tub. They also have a little snack area where you can buy things if you need. The inside is another small pool, a small toddler area, and sand volleyball courts. Now don’t get me wrong, this is nice compared to having nothing at all, but the water park part is misleading to anyone that has been to any actual big water park before. I will say my 2.5 year old quite enjoyed herself in the toddler area and the lazy river, but I was hoping for more especially with the price of the room. Another little tip, change before you get there because they do not have locker rooms. We had to use the bathrooms right on the inside of the hotel and they were really small and hard to change in.
Food wise you are located nears tons of restaurants, so if you want to eat out you have plenty of options. We stopped at the Applebees right next door because we could walk and after being in the car all day that was nice. That night they also offered an outdoor movie by the pool, which was Frozen and my daughter would have loved had it not started so late, but she was in bed. Be warned that if you get a room facing the outdoor pool area you will hear the movie the whole time, it wasn’t loud, but just unexpected.
Overall, it was a nice place to stay and I would think about staying again for a longer trip.

What’s not to like about this location?
Just far enough off of the main drag yet close enough to be there in a couple minutes. The staff, upon arrival, were very friendly and helpful (a HUGE plus in my book). The room was a bit of a surprise, in a good way. We had two queen beds with living room area. The kitchen and washer/​dryer were a pleasant surprise!
The indoor pool, water slides and kiddie pools went over VERY WELL with our 3 year old. She also enjoyed the lazy river and outside pool as well.
For value, service, location, and CLEANLINESS, I give this a high recommendation and will not only tell friends, but will stay here on our next visit!

Pros: The staff at the front desk was very accommodating when we arrived in 100-​degree heat and asked if there was any place we could store our cold groceries (we came from only two hours away, but the ice in our coolers was melting). They said sure, we will run it up to your room for you, even though the room isn’t ready yet.
The indoor and outdoor pool areas — awesome. My kids loved it all, and if you have older kids (10 and up) it feels very safe to give them a room key and allow them the run of the place. Our condo looked out onto the outdoor pool area and was right down the hall from the indoor pool.
Spacious 3-​bedroom condo — accommodated me and my four kids, plus my friend and his son. No, it’s not luxury, but it’s nice for sure. If you want fluffy towels, bring them.
Check-​out was fast. In and out in under a minute.
Cons:
Check-​in was a disaster. Families were waiting in the lobby well after check-​in time. There weren’t even enough chairs so I had to sit on the floor to nurse my baby. But at least the staff was super nice about it. Things happen.
The kitchen is not fully equipped. Obvious things like pot holders are missing (we used a hand towel). These kitchens are great for making sandwiches, pizza, etc, but you’ll have difficulty if you want to cook real meals. For us, the point of the condo was avoiding restaurants with five kids.

Stayed here so many times always had great services and the pool’s spas and hot tubs are great for family’s rooms are always very clean and the house keepers always keep it that way.

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!! We just left this place and had the WORST customer service experience we have ever had. Starting yesterday with check-in…we arrived at 3:30pm thinking check in was at 3 (our mistake)…we were told our room would be ready a few minutes after 4, the actually check in time. So we found a comfy chair in the lobby to wait. As we did, family after family came in and were told their rooms would be ready «soon.» And soon the lobby was filled with people waiting because their rooms were not ready. 4,4:30,5pm came and went and still no room. Each time we inquired we were assured housekeeping was in the room getting it ready. Finally around 5:20pm we were told our room was ready. When we got to our room we were underwhelmed with the décor, including the thin towels and the table covered with the remains of what appeared to be a craft project (fluorescent paint splotches) from a previous guest. The bedding and décor was also outdated.
The rest of the evening was fairly uneventful. We were up fairly late so since we had asked for late checkout and placed the «do not disturb» sign on the door, we looked forward to sleeping in then hitting the pool after breakfast. However, around 9 (two hours BEFORE regular checkout and 3 hours BEFORE our scheduled later checkout) as we were lying in bed, and our son was sleeping on the LR couch, we heard a brief knock, someone call out «housekeeping» and without waiting for a reply, housekeeping entered our room. I immediately called the front desk and got an apology and a promise to «look into it.»
Feeling unsettled we decided to get up and get breakfast. Based on our experience, we decided to go ahead and pack our things and go ahead and check out for fear they would enter our room again while we were gone .
This is where the customer service experience really begins to fail… epically fail. As we approached the front desk my husband let the clerk know we were checking out. It was not until he asked for the corporate contact information that the clerk even inquired how our stay was (shouldn’t that be the first thing they say after, greeting/​good morning?). As he began to explain about our check in experience and then the unexpected housekeeping visit this morning the clerk said «housekeeping doesn’t even start cleaning rooms that early. I jumped in and stated that was irrelevant and restated what my husband had said, the clerk got an attitude and was immediately defensive. She asked me to lower my voice. I told her I did not appreciated her attitude and she replied that she did not like mine and she could not help me. At that point my husband asked to speak to the manager on duty. She left through a door behind the front desk and we could clearly hear her explaining the situation to someone. Soon the manager „Jason“ came out and we retold our situation again to him. He offered nothing but excuses— from the „I was not aware there was a problem with check-​in yesterday. I was not here“ to „well it was an honest mistake“ in response to the housekeeping situation. He even tried to tell us that with the deadbolt on our door housekeeping „could not have gotten in“. We understand that mistakes happen but there were three opportunities to prevent this from happening– the do not disturb sign on the door/​locked door, the fact that we had not checked out, and the fact that we asked and were assured a later check out time. Protocol, not to mention, best practices should always be for housekeeping to double-​check with the front desk before entering ANY room with a do not disturb sign. Honestly, we just wanted to be heard, to get a SINCERE apology and a promise that they would take steps to ensure this did not happen to another guest. When I shared the positive experience we had recently had at a hotel the previous week in nearby Gatlinburg his response was „so what do you want?“ That was the last straw for me and I replied — the customer is always right» to which he aggressively came across the counter at me (as my husband and teenage son looked on, horrified) and said «No ma’am!» At that point we realized we were going to get no where so we left. Heed our warning and those of dozens of other guests who have posted their problem experiences with this hotel (it is not a resort… Club Med is a resort) online. Trust me, from now on I will read and take into account online reviews. And it’s not like we paid $ 89 for the SuperX motel… at almost $ 200 a night we deserve and expect more… much more!!! Was our request unreasonable? No. We travel a lot and have never had this poor of an experience in response to a legitimate concern!

Very disappointed during my stay here. Stay away from ROOM #4114. The owner of this 2 bedroom condo used the space as a furniture storage unit… example for bedroom with two queen beds, there is a bakers rack for the guest to use as storage on one side of the bed. A tv entertainment center (minus the tv) is to be used as a closet. There is a dresser with TV There is a two shelf book case on the other side of the bed to be used as storage. NO closet. The only closet in the whole unit is in the other bedroom with king size bed. The kitchen has 4 small shelves hanging on the wall to serve as a pantry. The living room area has a buffet table, coffee table with tv and end table on ONE wall. Two chairs and sleeper sofa with end table on one side and a HUGE folding table to serve as an end table for the other side of sofa. You could not sit at the dining table (which could sit 6 ppl) due to the abundance of furniture and another table for the microwave. I will say the plus side of this condo was pool view, large balcony… that is all that I can say positive about my stay here. We will not be back. We stayed for 4 nights/​5 days and was miserable. I will give another resort/​or cabin my money. The front desk was called and we were told we could not change condos. They were not helpful at all!!!

Remember: You book a condo, not a hotel room. This place was perfect for our family. I love that the kitchen had all the basics one needs to prepare food. Trash was taken out regularly; I’m not sure about towels though. Yes, the room wasn’t cosmetically perfect, but it was clean and suited our needs. The location is great for just about anything you have planned in the area. We would absolutely stay here again. It’s a great place if you have kids. My only issue is checking in — it took some time and was incredibly busy.

Great location. Great Price (make sure to use name your price tool on their website), great water park. Game room needs improvement and several machines took our money but front desk reimbursed us.

There was no housekeeping and the room was so so (very overpriced). We could not check in to our room until 6 pm when check in was at 4 pm because the room was not «clean» yet. Other guests in line had the same problem. The next day, we went out and came back to the hotel at 6 pm and our room was not clean. They said that house keeping only takes out the trash and gives you new towels, neither of which were done. They don’t even make the bed which is ridiculous for that price! For that price at other hotels you could get breakfast as well!

My family and I chose this hotel based on the reviews from this website. Although the hotel is clean and spacious, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. The day after we checked in we went to Dollywood. We left the hotel at 9:30 and returned about 2:30. We had put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door because we did not want anyone in the room. When we returned, we were getting ready to go eat and discovered the cash we had in our purse as well as a gold chain and charm (given to my husband by his father before he died) was missing. We immediately went to the office to see what help we could obtain. As soon as we stated our room was robbed they took as to a side room to discuss the problem. We were first told no one had been in our room if we had the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. Then we were told they have a computer system on the door locks that will tell them if someone had been in the room with any keys that were not the keys we were issued. The property manager stated they take this very seriously. She stated if someone was in the room they would know exactly who it was based on the key. Supposedly the keys are checked out by the employees and checked back in by the employees. She told us if it came back someone was in the room, they would prosecute the person. They also claimed they run background checks and drug tests on everyone they hire. We sat in that room over an hour. Supposedly they still did not have the report (I am a little confused how a computer system can take hours to get a report off of a lock.) I filed a police report. (They police were very nice.) We requested a refund the nights we still had left because we no longer wanted to stay at the hotel. After waiting and waiting for the report we decided to take the kids to go get something to eat. After dinner we returned and discovered of course the report was finally ready and someone had been in our room at 10 am. They knew the name of the employee. We were told the police were going to confront the employee in the morning when he showed up for his shift. The next morning we heard from the police. Apparently the resort questioned the employee the night before. (So of course he had time to create a story.) The employee claimed someone must have taken his key and entered the room and then returned the key to him without him knowing. He stated he was never in the room. Although the resort claimed they would prosecute the person he was still working. He is a person who works at the pool so why he even had a key to the rooms is beyond me. The fact that he was responsible for the key while it was in his possession but his story was accepted by the resort is also beyond me. The resort told us at this point there is nothing they could do for us. We asked about their insurance covering the loss and were told since we did not use the safe in the room, it is basically our fault. 1) We were never told there was a safe in the room and did not see a safe. 2) What if you have items that do not fit in a safe (ie, computer, ipad etc). 3) DO NOT DISTURB means no one should be in the room. The police then also told us the person has a criminal history. So even though we were told by the hotel they do background checks, they hired a person with a criminal history. We also discovered there have been other complaints of theft lately although there were no actual police reports filed. Basically the hotel knows who did it but is doing nothing about it. When we asked for a corporate phone number we were told there was only an email address. I WOULD HIGHLY suggest you stay away from this resort. It is an awful feeling to know someone has been in your room and gone through your things. Avoid this resort at ALL costs!!!

Very nice outdoor pool area for kids. Indoor was good too, but would be great in cooler times of year. Room was dirty. Shampoo only on first day, after that you are on your own. Our room had many issues. Drywall holes patched in the bathroom but not painted –matched the elevator lobby — those patches weren’t sanded or painted all week either. Hair dryer fell off the wall. Fridge kept freezing over, then thawing and dripping water all over and making messes. The maintenance guy told us we were using it wrong… He also takes the temperature controls out of the refrig –because people turn them down too much. The dishwasher wasn’t fastened in and nearly fell over. The stove didn’t work — wasn’t plugged in. No coat hangers in the room. The front desk said they don’t usually provide. Carpet seemed really dirty — walk without shoes and your feet were black. At the front desk I heard another couple show them a picture of what they found «on their sheets, under the comforter». Other reviews on Unilocal and others seem accurately low.

Very expensive for what you get. Great for kids. Stayed 3 nights. Amenities such as shampoo, coffee, soap, etc only the first day. You have to go dirty and coffeeless the rest of the time or buy your own. For the price you pay you should get all you want. Good location but hard to find at night.
