While have cute items, the man working is incredibly rude and they charge $ 2.50 for an extra spoon and get mad at you for sharing. Wouldn’t recommend.

Love love love the Chocolate Barn! The chocolate is surely good, my favorite being their salted caramels, but the ice cream, oh the ice cream!!! They make it on site with love and fabulous ingredients. The cranberry is ethereal and the mocha chip is to die for. Other favorites are the fudge swirl and the pumpkin spice(seasonal). The owners are genuinely nice folks, and I will be back there again for sure.

The Chocolate Barn is nothing short of exceptional. Quite a wide variety of various knick knacks and scrumptious chocolates. Don’t forget about the homemade ice cream. Many flavors — all delicious. The owners are extremely nice and the environment would best be described as cozy! I’ll be back!

Very nice place. Tons of homemade options which it looks like they make right on premise. They probably change their candies a lot but this time I got chocolate coconut truffles which were very good. They also have some ice cream options. Seating outdoors as well. It looks a lot bigger from the outside than it actually is. It’s definitely worth a stop in!

A friend said we should stop for ice cream. Said the chocolate was to die for, as was their fresh strawberry made from organic berries from the farm across the street. We got a pint of each and boy were they right!!! THE best chocolate ice cream I have ever tasted. Rich, but not overly so. Strawberry was delicious too. If you get the chance, stop in for a cone or a pint to take home and share. Really worth the trip! You will not regret it!!!(We didn’t try any of the fudge or chocolates but they looked and smelled delicious. The shop is really cute with lots of adorable gifts too! A real diamond and worth detouring off Rt 7!)

I’m usually pretty good about finding the best that every community has to offer. Somehow when planning our trip to Vermont I missed this place. We almost didn’t stop as we were driving by. That would have been the mistake of a lifetime, as it will be for you if you don’t visit this place. This is the best ice cream I’ve had anywhere in America. Their chocolate ice cream must have come straight from heaven. We discovered this place on a Friday afternoon and had to stop here again when they opened at 9 a.m. Saturday morning on our way out of town. I’m considering planning a trip back to Vermont just for more of this ice cream.

I dream of the chocolate Barn some nights. This is an amazing place just off of route 7A in Vermont that makes great Peanut Butter Fudge. We have been going here for the last 10 years, the owners have changed and so have the recipes but it is still good! This is truly a staple in southern VT and is not to be missed. Do yourself a favor and be sure to visit. It’s as close to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory as we may ever get!

Ultra rich decadent truffles and luxurious chocolates. And they are the biggest truffles I’ve every seen! We cut a variety of them in quarters to actually shar as they are that big and completely rich. Dark chocolate, velvety textures, liquors, candid fruit nector, coconut, buttery salted caramel, hazelnuts, orange peels bathed in chocolate… endless choices. Highly recommended– don’t mis this! Stop in and take an assortment to go.

My wife, son his girlfriend and I took a short drive over to Vermont today our usual candy store stop was not open. This being the case we decided to stop at The Chocolate Barn instead. I have to say we are glad we did the owners were very friendly and the chocolate was super fresh and super tasty. The truffles there are big with a great mouth feel nice smooth texture and not overly sweet not that this is an issue for me, the sweeter the better. If you are in VT on historic route 7a. Make sure to stop at The Chocolate Barn.

This place is great — especially the ice cream. Great chocolate shop with some really cute crafts as well between Manchester and Bennington. The chocolates are excellent but I’m always focused on the ice cream here. Always a great flavor selection based on what is in season — yep all fresh ingredients. Dare I say maybe the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The owners appear to be a couple and they are very sweet and welcoming. Even when I’m watching what I’m eating I will always go for at least one scoop.

Looking for chocolate? Always. Such a cute little barn we visited while staying with some friends. It is FULL of chocolate, candy and basically anything else to give you a huge giant cavity! Yay! We bought several things and so far my favorite was the dark chocolate covered toffee and espresso bean. I would definitely stop if you have the chance!

Another overpriced tourist trap… this one includes a rude owner. I’m used to expecting that in this part of VT and I usually will spend some money in these types of places. That said, I will not EVER spend a cent at The Chocolate Barn. My wife, son and I walked in. I chose to carry our small Bichon dog in and held him close to me and out of the way of people and store items. Several people commented and said how adorable he is and even pet him. After a minute or so of browsing, the owner(aka head of security) rushed to me and loudly announced to me and everyone in the small store; «THAT(pointing to my dog) is a health code violation!!!» He embarrassed us and I’d say he embarrassed himself as well by the looks on other customers’ faces. Just to note: there weren’t ANY signs at the entrance of the store indicating dogs not being allowed in the store. Of course if there were, I would have respected the establishments clearly posted rules. In return, I clearly and loudly announced to my family«We won’t be spending any money here, ever.» And we left. I I could rate it at zero stars, I would.

The chocolates were very good! We got a s’mores bar which had crumbly Graham crackers and fluffy marshmallow inside a chocolate casing, amazing! The peanut butter and dark chocolate truffles were even more delicious! They have endless amounts of different types of chocolates and candies, as well as lots of neat gifts!

What can I say… chocolate. And the ice cream here is perfection. Made by a chemist who loves to cook, in small batches. The flavors are unique and seasonal. The owners are friendly and the hand pulled candies are gorgeous. The chocolates are beauty and delicious. The store smells heavenly from the first step in. You can’t help yourself and end up buying EVERYTHING!

I’ve had their chocolate over the years which I love, but happened to be in town and tried their ice cream(Vanilla fudge swirl, among others) which they recently started offering. Their ice cream is incredibly good/addicting…made in small batches it takes premium ice cream to a new level. I can honestly say its some of the best I’ve ever had.

The Chocolate Barn is well known for their high quality, delicious homemade chocolates. But even their outstanding reputation did not prepare us for their sensational new ice cream. It is truly out of this world — by far, the best ice cream we’ve ever had. The owners are very friendly and helpful and encouraged us to try a few flavors, including cantaloupe ice cream made from melons from a nearby farm. It was a really tough choice but we decided on maple walnut — the mapliest we’ve ever had — and chocolate, which was to die for: rich without being overly sweet and amazingly creamy. Unlike anything we’ve ever had before. They use only the best ingredients, like cream and Callebaut chocolate from Belgium. The chocolate ice cream was reminiscent of a mousse. Unfortunately we live out of state but will be making the 2 hour trip back to the Chocolate Barn before long — it’s worth it.

I completely agree with Janet C. — the home made ice cream here is EXCEPTIONAL! I pass this way 5 days a week and it is so difficult to be dieting and drive by that tempting and luscious ice cream! The Bing cherry is the best cherry ice cream I have ever had in my life. It is loaded with big cherry halves and an occasional whole cherry! It is not overly sweet. — Same goes for the maple walnut — loaded with walnuts and real VT maple syrup– it is a wonder. Super– creamy, no ice crystals– tremendous flavor. It is how I imagine old fashioned hand churned ice cream of our grandparents generation! Yesterday, I broke the diet… and tried the chocolate. YUM!!! It has a very deep chocolate flavor and ultra creamy texture. I am a huge Ben and Jerry’s fan, but this has B&J’s beat!!! Folks… this place is worth a drive out of your way. I promise! The H.M. chocolates are also quite good– though a bit on the sweet side for my tastes. I am a true ice cream FREAK– year round… and now The Chocolate Barn’s ice cream is my favorite new discovery! P. S. It is made in small batches and they close at 6:00 p.m. — so go early. Take home hand packed pints! P. P. S. If you look around at their gift shop, they also sell some beautiful hand turned wooden bowls.
