Really awesome find! Traveling home from Herkimer, NY to CT and wanted a great place to eat to match the scenic views along the highway. Hesitated taking the 10 mile trip off the highway, but sure glad we did. Fabulous food… friendly, hometown ambience. I wish we lived closer!

This review is long overdue! My husband and I stayed at The Nash(hotel above of 204 main bistro, they are the same business) last September to escape NYC for a couple of days. This place is a real contemporary, clean and so well thought out boutique hotel in the countryside. Jim is so lovely and really accommodated us. The girl that works at the restaurant is also super lovely and we had great conversations. We stayed in the suite and the space is huge, very clean and beautiful. Downstairs in the bistro the complimentary breakfast was the freshest ever, and lunch and dinner(we tried everything) had delicious options. I am so glad this place is only 3 hours drive from us as I think it’s time to go back soon for another relaxing, recharging few days. Also we had massages across the road at the SPA and it was amazing too. The lady across the road that makes and sells soaps is also super lovely. I can’t recommend this place enough.

What a great little find! We were driving near Sharon Springs and had heard of Beekman 1802 so we decided to check out the store and the town. About a block down from Beekman 1802 is 204 Main Bar and Bistro. Without any cell reception in the area, we couldn’t look up the restaurant and had to hope for the best. Walking in we were slightly confused what type of restaurant this is. The décor is modern, but almost Asian, yet the menu is scattered. There are Asian, Mexican, and Italian dishes on the menu. Whatever they are trying to be does not matter to me, as the food they are serving is delicious! I had seen at one of the local shops a menu for 204 Main and it included a delicious looking gnudi. This is why I wanted to try it, but either that was an old menu or the gnudi is not featured at lunch. Oh well, I tried their cheeseburger and it was one of the better cheeseburgers I have ever had. The meat was juicy and delicious and the Colby jack cheese was excellent and really tasty. My boyfriend had wanted the pork tacos, but they were not serving them that day. Instead he got the BLT and raved about it. What surprised me about his rave was that his favorite part was actually the bread! This is a guy who LOVES bacon, so for bread to surpass bacon was very unusual. All in all we were happy to have found this place. You could tell that all of the ingredients were very fresh and local and everything we had was delicious. Still wish I had gotten to try their gnudi though!

Sharon Springs NY??? Likely population less than 500. Walking around, I would have guessed less than 25! 204 Main was discovered searching around 1802 Beekman, a remarkable retail anomaly also in Sharon Springs We were first to arrive and had our pick of tables in a large h dining room with strong and uplifting wall art and whimsical touches here and there The owner greeted us and helped with wine selections including a very good red which was not on the menu. A gnudi appetizer in tomato sauce was accompanied by an explanation of preparation, light & delicious We already knew we were in the right place. Caprese salad, great tomatoes and dressing Very goad beet salad Finally, a hand made cheese ravioli and a coconut and rice curry with shrimp which was delicious and somehow unique. This is the kind of jewel you are lucky to find in your travels Enjoy

Superb food, smartly made. The dining room is spacious, with tables placed generously apart. Service is great — friendly, flexible.

Wow, looks like we missed an impressive(and Unilocal-approved) dinner menu on Saturday afternoon. Even so, the lunchtime cheeseburger was a pleasant surprise. This is a nice, low-key space hiding just off the Cherry Valley Turnpike.

Since my last review in 2013, I’ve eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed. My wife and I are foodies and we agree that the food and service at this place is superb. It’s our favorite restaurant not only in Sharon Springs, but anywhere. Joe T

We had a lovely dinner there last night. Delicious bread and butter to start! The potsticker appetizer was a bit small to split — but the sauce was nice. Ordered the gnudi and the schnitzel and enjoyed both. The fried egg on top of the schnitzel was a particularly nice touch. Split the bittersweet chocolate pudding for dessert, and I think we each could have finished our own! Great atmosphere and friendly service. Definitely look forward to returning!

We rarely go out Saturday nights but we were at our place upstate and having spent the entire day at home I wanted to go out for dinner. Our local café is only open for breakfast and lunch but across the street is a new bistro that opened last year and we still had not tried… so off we went . The restaurant is on Main Street and the drive is maybe 6 minutes from our front door. When we got to Main St it was nearly empty save for four cars parked near the restaurant… funny to drive on a Saturday night without traffic, parking with no hassle and coming into a restaurant where you are greeted with a welcome smile! We sat outside and ordered… water wine and bread arrived in a flash; we ordered and waited and enjoyed the calm of the end of the day and the amazing weather. Reviewing the very diverse menu: all looked like things I wanted to order and eat from… stuffed dates or short ribs or pan roasted chicken for example but started with a caesar salad, good, and moved onto a Schnitzel… a good schnitzel is hard to find and the last great one was made by my mother from Vienna need I say more. Vin went for the Gnudi. Both dishes were excellent, the schnitzel was crispy and just the right texture toped with a fried egg; the Gnudi melted in your mouth. A nice Malbec to toast our good fortune and we were very happy campers. Vin and I wanted dessert but just didn’t have any room. Fortunately we have the rest of the summer to try the entire menu-which we will– and I plan to try a dessert next time. I had spent the day reading David Kamp’s book on the evolution of cooking and food in the US and to end the day with a delicious meal cooked with local ingredients and well prepared was spot on. Though we are miles and miles and miles away from the city so it is a treat to find like minded folks up here in the woods.

We have eaten here many times and also drop in for drinks and dessert. Recently I had them do a dinner for my sales team. We had 30 people there and they had all the meals out promptly. The selections they gave us impressed everyone. Personally I could make a meal out of the homemade bread and the unpasturized butter they serve before every meal! the butter also comes from a local farm. During the season, I go with the Heirloom tomato salad that you can have as an app or as a meal. I believe I have tried all of their menu items and even some of the specials they offer, depending on the season. Everything is very fresh and locally sourced. The wine and beer selections are also very good and Jim is a very gracious host. It’s a must stop if you come to Sharon Springs!

We just returned from our vacation from Sharon Springs, NY and I have to say that just when I didn’t think it could get any better, it did. We went in around noon and the place was packed. We got seated and Keith, our waiter was right there to get our drink order and tell us about the specials. There was 6 of us, two couples celebrating our 1 year anniversary and 1 couple, who was wed a few weeks ago. That’s when Jim(the owner) brought over 6 champagne glasses and a bottle of champagne, on the house. Our meals arrived and I’m telling you… it was the bomb! I had the baked ziti with brocc. Rabe w/spicy sausage. The service is great, they’re friendly, the place is clean, lively and the food is great! As busy as they were, we were in, out and stuffed quicker than most restaurants. I highly recommend eating at the 204.

We love this place. Great atmosphere, clean and simple. Portion sizes are appropriate in that they will not feed a family of four. The lounge area is terrific and the ladies bathroom is all about Hello Kitty! A place for real food if you are a Cooperstown local or visitor tired of hamburgers, pizza and fries.

A culinary oasis in a sea of upstate Cisco-driven pizza taverns and townie fried basket sandwich dens, this place was a welcome relief amongst the well-wishing gourmet wannabees that have sprouted up in the northern Catskills… The Bistro offers well thought out menu served in a sophisticated setting of a turn of the century bank building creatively restored and given a modern aesthetic. Food was delicious and the deserts decadent. Will definitely come again!
