Elliott House Bed & Breakfast

Great place extremely accommodating even gave us a free room upgrade with a jet tub. Super friendly even with my crazy 2 yr old son. Great breakfast, and wonderful wine at happy hour!

We stayed one night in the «Sugar Pine» room in the main house. Joann and Greg are very friendly and welcome you like family. Our complimentary wine and sweets were awesome. Was one of the best cobbler we’ve ever had. The room was very cozy with a jacuzzi tub for two. They made us dinner reservations at the trading post. Breakfast was delicious. Our one night stay was so great that we made reservations for two nights in December.

Although it’s one of the more confusing bed & breakfasts, it was one of the more delightful ones I’ve been to! The rooms are actually spread throughout Shaver Lake with names other than «Elliott House» so finding our room was a bit of a challenge. Once we found it though, it was a true oasis. Our room was one of two connected by a common area that had seats, coffee, a refrigerator, a microwave and some snacks. The room was very comfortable, roomy and had a bathroom with a large jetted tub. The owners were as delightful as the room. For breakfast there was a delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes, bacon, fruit and coffee cakes. I was dropping my husband off at a trail head that took longer than expected which made me show up right at the end of the breakfast time. Even so they happily made my breakfast… lucky for me! The pancake just dissolved in my mouth. The entire breakfast was just delicious. The area made a great stop. They were having a 4^th of July fireworks display at the lake. There are hiking trails and all kinds of other activities in the area. I would love to stop back for a longer visit.

This is most probably the best place that I’ve ever been to. During a city gateway this is the best that you can get, you’ll feel more like you are visiting some relatives :))
Th entire place is very nice and clean, awesome breakfasts the Elliots are more very nice and can help you with anything.

Stayed 1 night 5÷12÷13 for some business meetings at nearby Big Creek & Huntington Lake.
Location was great. The room (I stayed in «Sugar Pine», one of the units in the main house) was comfy and well set up. Free satellite TV worked perfectly. Free wifi was great too, and I also got surprisingly good mobile internet in this area too (Verizon, fwiw.)
The hosts Greg & Joanne were very welcoming and accomodating. The timing of my meetings meant I wouldn’t be around during normal breakfast hours, so they volunteered to set up a continental breakfast for me to eat when I left early in the morning.
I will stay here again if work pulls me up to this area.

Absolutely gorgeous jewel tucked in the mountains. Greg and Joanne are the most gracious hosts, providing everything you would need including directions to Yosemite etc :) and amazing breakfast. Top notch. It is romantic and breathtaking here. We hope to come back with the family and enjoy the stuffed pancakes and omelettes, fresh fruit and warm atmosphere.

This place was AMAZING! The couple who own the place are friendly, their breakfast was amazing, and the room was immaculate and beautiful. I booked this room without knowing too much about it, and it totally exceeded my expectations. Cannot rate highly enough.

Wonderful experience. Clean, comfortable room. We had a suite with a spa tub, offsite from the main B&B. It had a common area for the two suites. Keurig coffee maker, comfortable couch and chairs, light snacks, and a larger than usual mini fridge. Wifi was great. Great hosts served a tasty breakfast. They were so nice and helpful. Shaver Lake is a beautiful place to visit. My wife and I will have to return.

The business responded to my review on TripAdvisor, but unfortunately I am unable to respond on there. Here is my response:
Again, the temperature was 82 degrees at night. The owners’ claim that the fan had multiple settings and that there were portable fans is false. The ceiling fan only had ONE setting and there were NO portable fans. The blinds were also broken. A friend who stayed at this hotel at the same time but on the main site said that she had a large unit attached to her window that brought in cool air from the outside. I had no such thing and therefore zero ventilation in my room. Unlike the owner’s statement, I opened the windows a couple hours before trying to sleep as well as turned the fan on. This only brought the temperature down to 80 degrees.
The owner did NOT offer me a refund to leave elsewhere, aside from the fact that there was nowhere else to go as every hotel was booked at the time. But no offer was ever made. I had arrived back from Courtyard Reservoir at 10:30pm. to find that the room had increased in temperature (to 82 degrees). I called the phone line that was given to me, and there was no answer. I eventually found the other phone number on the door at 12:00am and called then to notify the owners of what was going on because I was unable to sleep. If this was an issue, I should have been provided this number to begin with or they should not have answered the phone. The hotels that I have stayed at have generally always had front desk service all night. I have never encountered people who became so angry at me for calling. But again, this rudeness occurred even before the 12 am call – the call earlier to notify them of the hotel condition and when I couldn’t find the hotel (as it was listed under a different name).
I did open the windows from 5 – 8 am. It took 3 HOURS to bring the temperature down to 76 degrees. The owners also did NOT offer a return discount (although I would not want one anyways)
Many of the owners’ statements are false. They were also incredibly rude in their interactions with me by phone. No apology had been offered, and I was blamed for the issue.
Again, 82 degrees for a $ 189 room (I was offered a $ 50 discount, but still had to pay $ 139.99). Even $ 139.99 for a hotel room that you can only get a couple hours of sleep in is too much. Cheap $ 80 hotels that I have been to have been more acceptable and the owners more hospitable.

The best bed and breakfast I have ever been to. Amazing hosts, cozy, clean rooms, and delicious breakfast all in the beautiful shaver lake town. Highly recommended. My wife and I will be back again!

The attention to detail at the Elliott House is simply second to none. Just when you think they might not have something they do, and there is always a surprise around the next corner of your stay here. Joann and Greg are the most humble an gracious hosts and make you feel like you are part of the town. We will definitely be coming back again. The bang for the buck is here at the Elliott House!

Loved this place! We stayed on a Thursday night in the Ponderosa Suite. Decorated and full of charm. Greg was very polite and made us wonderful baked blueberry apple pancakes in the morning!
We came up when it was snowing so the only recommendation I would have is to let people know that they can park (lot right behind the B&B — turn by the Hungry House, follow up the big hill and a small lot is marked behind the B&B) right away and then come in to avoid the slippery, rocky steps covered in snow. :)
If you’re coming here to go to China Peak, it will take you about 45 minutes to get there in the snow. Chains are also required on these roads if you don’t have 4 wheel drive.

Wow, where do I begin. Got a discount from the get go by calling in at the last minute. Stayed in the Cedar suite with all the amenities, worth the extra cost. Hosts are the best I’ve ever experienced! Stay here! The longer you stay, the more you will enjoy!

My husband and I stayed at The Elliott House on Labor Day weekend. I have stayed at many B&Bs over the years, elaborate B&Bs all over the world and I have never had quite this B&B experience; Jeff and his wife were perfect Inn owners, the food was amazing, best breakfast and happy hour cuisine and fresh cookies always available around the clock. I recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to be pampered, appreciated as a paying guest and who loves high end gourmet fresh cooked food.

Stayed here one night after going through Yosemite. You drive up a mountain to get there and it’s a tiny little town — we were sort of worried at first arrival. However this place is exactly what I thought a bed and breakfast would be like. Warm, quaint, with expert little touches that make it feel so welcoming.
We arrived around 6 so we missed the hors d’oeuvres which I didn’t realize they did until after. However I was offered a glass of wine upon arrival AND they had fresh baked cookies available at any time! Greg was SO welcoming and informative. Recommended several places for dinner and had a book of menus.
The room we had was small and quaint but had everything we needed — it felt like home.
Breakfast was really good. They had cereals, yogurt, granola, fruit and a fresh baked pastry along with a hot option which that day was blueberry pancakes with praline syrup… YUM!
I would go back here in a heart beat!

Me and my wife had our first night of our honeymoon here, and now we are back for our anniversary. The rooms are super clean and cozy. I recommend a room with a jacuzzi tub :). The breakfast here is also top notch. 5 stars!!!

Awesome bed and breakfast. I will be coming here again. The hosts were amazing. Great food, great cozy rooms. My wife and I stayed here for a 2 day ski trip and got a few feet of snow in beautiful Shaver.
I feel like telling everyone I know about this place, but then again I don’t so it will be easier for me to book a room next time I want to stay here.

The Elliott House is probably the nicest lodging you’ll find in this part of the Sierras. The room décor is excellent (most rooms contain a single-​person jacuzzi tub and gas fireplace) with high quality flooring/​tiling/​accents; the landscaped garden — complete with small running fountains — is charming and visually stimulating; and the food is scrumptious — from the breakfast to the afternoon hors d’oeuvres and cookies. As far as bed and breakfasts go the Elliott House is top notch. (And I’m a bit of a bed and breakfast snob.)
Room for improvement: 1) the couple who runs the place, while great at operations, has room to grow in their customer relations. One morning my bf and I were 10 minutes late to our breakfast seating time and they’d already closed down their breakfast bar (which contained the cold side dishes like fruit) — we were, however, served our hot entrees. Even if we HAD gotten there right on time, what if we’d wanted a piece of fruit 10 minutes into our meal? Also, check out time was at 11am and at 11:10am we were sitting/​reading on our front porch, completely checked out of our room with keys inside the unit, killing half an hour before a noon horse-​back ride down the way. We were asked to scoot to another area of the B&B which was weird… the next check-​in wasn’t until 3pm. (And we’d told the owner we were only killing a half hour of time.) Guess they really wanted us out of their way. 2) I think the bed mattresses need to get replaced… ours sunk down a bit in the middle.
Overall a great stay so long as you’re not expecting any of those hospitality intangibles.

Without a doubt, the best B&B I have ever been to.
We did not stay in the actual Elliott House proper, but rather in their offsite location. It was located in an upscale section of Shaver Lake called Granite Ridge.
We booked the Forest View Cottage, and to say it was wonderful and romantic would be an understatement. Cottage is tucked in the forest and has a large vista view from the glass wall bedroom.
There is a large fireplace, small kitchen, and large shower.
Champagne and chocolates are provided upon checkin.
The owners welcome you like family and make everything so easy you forget you are only a guest. Checkout is a matter of cleaning up your stuff and leaving the key on the counter.
Worth every penny.

I’ve always wanted to experience a B&B. So… I am very happy that my first B&B stay was at the Elliott House. Joann and Greg Elliott are the sweetest people. They are so warm and welcoming and explained every single aspect of the house, including every single switch, extra blanket, jacuzzi tub, etc.
I was up at Shaver Lake for a photo shoot, so we were there with a crew of 11. Lucky for me and 3 others, we got to stay at the B&B. The guys stayed in the main house, while I got the Cedar suite, which is a newly built cabin detached from the main house. I have to say, it is the best room to be in. =) Let’s just say I wish I had all those amenities in my own home.
We had an early morning call time, so the Elliott’s made sure we had our breakfast before we started the day. Joann took great care of us. And Greg makes the best chocolate chip cookies. I should have taken a couple for the road.
I would definitely stay there again, and if you’re looking for a fabulous B&B experience without all the foo-​foo flowery feel, this is the place to go!
