Capturing directly to the computer enables us to make corrections, changes and enhancements «on the fly» saving time and money. We specialize in photography of real people, executive portraits, illustrative photography, people at work, people for editorial applications, all kinds of products, architecture and residential and business interiors, food, industrial machines and processes, motorcycles, copy photography of fine art paintings with cross-​polarization, digital compositing and special effects, removing backgrounds and retouching people and products. We design and produce all kinds of printed material – catalogs, brochures, flyers, posters. Professional color copier/​printer on premises enables us to design, photograph, and print up to 11×17, two sided, often while you wait. Mural, wall décor specialist.

History

Established in 1976.

Hired, first as an electronic engineer, and then as Advertising Manager for Textron’s Electronic Research Co. Division in Overland Park, KS, John Mutrux learned industrial advertising from the ground up in the mid-’70’s. In 1976, John took this experience into his own business photographing for Macy’s, Swanson’s/Hall’s, Phillips Petroleum, Richards and Conover Steel, XSIS Electronics, TG Crane, Champ Service Line, Employers’ Reinsurance Corp, First National Bank of Kansas City, Merchants Bank, Maffry’s Gems of Fruit, Johnson Food Equipment and many advertising agencies. In 1985, Mutrux built a custom photography studio on a spacious wooded lot with his home in Merriam, KS. In 2003, Mutrux joined the staff of the Kansas City Star shooting exclusively for the then-​new House and Home section of the Sunday paper, in addition to his own commercial work. In 2008, House and Home was recognized among the best home sections, nationally, by the Natl. Assoc. of Real Estate Editors.

«A love affair with light» is how John Mutrux characterizes his passion for photography. Growing up in the Ozark hills of SW Missouri, John learned from his mechanic father the importance of doing a job right the first time. In the College of the Ozarks’ famed work-​study program he worked in engineering, the radio station and the summer theater. Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1966, John underwent a year of training in electronics for a then-​secret mission, monitoring underground nuclear testing via a world-​wide network of seizmographs. While serving in the Philippines, a roommate taught John the basics of photography, and photographically-​speaking, he never looked back.
