George’s Steak Pit is a locally owned, family run business featuring hand cut steaks and fresh fish grilled over an open fire pit using hickory logs. Our menu features a wide variety of Greek inspired dishes as well as house favorites including the Filet Mignon and George’s Special Ribeye. When you come to George’s Steak Pit, you can expect a white table cloth with flowers and a candle for a high end dining experience perfect for either a date night or a business outing. Our full bar has your favorite drinks including an extensive selection of fine wines to complement your food with their excellent quality and value. Join us at George’s every Wednesday for house specials like the Greek Snapper, Shrimp Scampi, Chicken, and Tenderloin.

We have been a staple of Sheffield for 50 years at the same location bringing our open fire tradition from one generation to the next while providing exceptional service and quality. Our expanded dining area seats 150 people and you can join us at our large bar area as well. History

Established in 1956.

George’s Steak Pit was founded in the mid 1950’s by George and Vangie Vafinis and has been in the same location for over thirty years. After many years of hard work, George and Vangie retired in January 1984. The tradition has been carried on since that time by their son, Frank Vafinis.

One of the secrets to their success is the famous open pit. Grilling your freshly cut steaks, chicken and fresh fish over hickory logs assures you of a taste sensation you will not soon forget. Combine this with freshly breaded seafood, extensive wine list, delicious home made desserts and courteous, professional service and we believe you will enjoy a dining atmosphere that will bring you back again and again.

Business Owner

Frank Vafinis is the son of the founder of George’s Steak Pit, George Vafinis and has the tradition of his restaurant running through his blood. Frank took over the business in 1983 after his father retired. He enjoys being able serve the community through delicious steaks and comfort food, and hopes that your experience is such a positive one that you return again for a great meal with friends and family.
