The Ocean Breeze… breezing memories in my head from back to my school days. This place has been around that long! haha. Back when you used to go out to eat with your friends, because you really couldn’t go anywhere else, besides go to the mall. My sister and I stopped in for a nostalgic lunch last week and the memories came flooding! We had an okay lunch. OB won’t blow you away by any means with their outstanding food. It is simply a family restaurant, to hit up when you don’t feel like doing it yourself! Okay then… :-)

The owner of the restaurant was the one who seated us and she put us right next to the bathroom when there were many other tables available. I assume because we looked young. The food was okay and our waitress was nice.

I have been to Ocean Breeze many times over the last nine years for dining in and carry out. They have a large menu selection, portions are huge and the food is always consistently very good. It appears to be family owned and a lot of the staff have worked there for many years. All of the employees are very nice and more than accommodating. The servers are very attentive, the food is served hot(or cold depending on what you ordered), and served lightening fast. An excellent value for what you get. Although it is exceptionally clean and well maintained, it desperately needs updating.

I went to visit my friend in shelby and she picked this place for dinner and I was not impressed!!! I order the marinated chicken breast dinner with a baked potato, vegetable and a salad. First of all, the salad had one slice of tomato and a little bit of shredded cabbage. What happpened to the cucumbers and onions or even a little croutons for god sakes. Its suppose to be a salad, not a garnish on a plate! Then when I got my dinner, my carrots and peas where undercooked, baked potato was yellow and old, like its been sitting in the oven and my chicken was suppose to be marinated but it seems like they forgot to do that. I didn’t complain cause I didn’t want to embarrass her. The place needs a makeover thats for sure, and the uniforms are so dated. The only thing that was good there was the waitress and thats why I’m giving it 2 stars. If it wasn’t for the waitress, I would have giving it a 1 star.

Upon arriving to the restaurant, the hostess was friendly and sat me immediately. The décor was horrible and the outfits were hideous, but I was greeted by my waitress within a minute and she was friendly and FAST! But that’s where this goes downhill… I asked for silverware because my table did not have any, and I’m guessing the restaurant manager overheard me ask because he pulled my waitress aside and YELLED at her right in front of me and my child!!! She walked into the kitchen. Because it was later at night, it was pretty quiet in the restaurant and there weren’t many tables. I think that is why were able to clearly hear the manager yelling at the top of his lungs to a few waitresses in the kitchen. Guests around me were covering their ears. My waitress walked out of the kitchen near tears and could hardly talk to us. She was an attentive waitress before the debacle, but after she hardly wanted to come up to our table because she was embarrassed. The food was greasy, flavorless, and just overall unappetizing. New management, wallpaper, uniforms, food, and carpeting would really help this place. And we know it needs the help, because it isn’t thriving like it used to.

I’ll admit I don’t know much of their menu but what I have had is the best. Looking for good fish and chips my cousin Pat recommended Ocean Breeze. As most of my reviews I don’t live near the restaurant but when I am in the area I love to stop. I have only had the Fish and chips for dinner/lunch and stopped for breakfast once. The Fish is outstanding and generous! People who know me know I almost never need a take out box for leftovers. It happens here. Not only is the fish a generous portion your potato side is also. I love their hash browns which come on a separate platter as there is so much of it. Soup or salad or Cole slaw. Get the Cole slaw and its easily 3 –4 times more than anyone else gives you. Its good basic slaw. The French onion soup is awesome! One fish dinner can easily feed a normal appetite twice. Breakfast was acceptable. Nothing special. For some reason the one time I did eat here for breakfast the hash browns tasted a little off like cooked in a peculiar oil? If that makes any sense. At dinner they have been MUCH better. The staff has always been very attentive and friendly. I will be back, again and again.

The best Lemon Rice soup and Veggie Pita around! Plus the owners, the Amici’s, are so wonderful!

I have been going here since as long as I can remember and it is truly a great place! I always get the same thing. Tuna Sandwich, side salad with ranch and a Vernors. Oh I want that right now!!!

I have driven by this place everyday for the last six years and live only a half mile a way. I’d like to kick myself for not trying it earlier! If you are looking for a decent diner experience, this is a great place to go. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the food really does taste homemade. We have now been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner(not all at the same time) and have not been disappointed!

Normally go to the Orange Peel for a salad for lunch or dinner. Had a appt. near this restaurant and thought I would give it a try. Cabbage soup was tasteless and oily. Chefs salad was head lettuce covered with processed turkey and ham. And I swear the Swiss cheese was not even real. If it was, that was the lowest possible quality of cheese I have ever tasted. I wonder if all these 5 star ratings are from friends and relatives. It is pretty hard to ruin a salad. My waitress was friendly & attentive… that is the only reason I gave even 1 star.

This place was awesome. First, we got sat down quickly with no wait. They took our order and everything came out hot and fresh. I recommend getting the rice with the red sauce instead of the fries. You won’t regret it.

A glorified Dennys. Boring food that you could make at home. Mostly old people like it. I remember being unimpressed eating here as a child. Not sure how they’re still open, yet 2 stars to see a local business hanging in there.

Great service, great food great value… The hamburgers are frozen patties, not fresh, still good though. Drink glasses are about 6oz. Salad, tomatos, vegetables… always the freshest compared to anywhere else I go. Décor is kinda plain, huge bla bla oil paintings all over the place, like maybe the owner’s hobby is oil painting. The area near the kitchen door has very loud kitchen noise, like the dishwasher is right behind that wall… constant pounding against the wall. Overall it’s fine, just don’t get a hamburger or sit near the kitchen wall ;)

Delicious lemon chicken rice soup. Fresh roast chicken was cooked perfect and wasn’t over seasoned. But the mashed potatoes tasted like the kind you buy in the box with the flakes and add water, and the stuffing was just mushy hot bread. Plus the glasses are so small so you need a refill often!

Ocean Breeze is a wonderful family restaurant. The menu has a daily featured entrée selection of meats, poultry, beef, pasta, and fish selections. All are homemade and very appetizing. And the soups, MaMa could not make better! We have been going there for over 15 years. And the prices are reasonable. What more can you ask for! Don’t forget the desserts. You will not leave hungry or disappointed.

My family and I have been going to Ocean Breeze for 10 years now and they never dissapoint. They have the best homemade soups I’ve had next to my Mom and Grandma. They’re chicken noodle has real chunks of chicken not nasty fake pieces you might find at other places. Their cabbage is delicious and flavorful, and their french onion soup is the absolute best french onion soup I’ve had from anywhere. I love the stuffed chicken they serve off the specials. I think that particular dish is served on Saturdays. They have great fish and chips and great salads. The waitresses rock and have most of our family’s order memorized. They have tons of regulars and they know how to treat them right. This is a true family owned place and you can tell it’s a wonderfully run place with a lot of pride in the food they serve.

As far as family restaurants go, Ocean Breeze is one of the best. I lived the the area for years and it was always my standby if we couldn’t make a decision for dinner. My favorites include the stuffed chicken(on the special menu only), the cole slaw, and crocks of French onion soup!

Excellent food., and value! Greek salad is the best around and even better with chicken. Ask for an extra plate because if you don’t, it will be all over the table due to the skillful piling of ingredients on the plate! Family favorites include: Lemon Chicken Soup, Turkey Dinner, Club Sandwich, Salisbury Steak, Hot Turkey Sandwich(made with real oven roasted turkey breast, not processed.) This has been a family favorite for over 15 years and a Shelby Twp. staple!
