There are pretty much only two or so restaurants in this area, if one works here and needs something quick like lunch, but one time buying it here convinced me to continue bringing mine. Nothing wrong with the food, the service, or the place itself. In fact, it’s sort of adorable. There’s old school charm galore, like the rickeys or the little order slips they give you. It’s not the manufactured, hipster kind – it’s real small town charm. On the day I came the elementary had a half day and it was fun to see so many school families stop here for a bite and greet each other so warmly. What really makes this place negative for me is the price. I paid so much more than I wanted to for a plain grilled cheese and a milkshake that filled me up about as much as a small, child sized one-slice-of-cheese sandwich and milkshake can do. Even the lovely outdoor seating is simply not worth the price you pay for food that still leaves you hungry.

I always hear people rave about this place so I finally checked it out. Omgd, I am not sure what is going on there but it was incredibly slow. The line was to the door but I thought well, no big deal… but we waited FOREVER. A woman came in line behind me and when I told her how long we had been waiting, she left! I saw another man leave the line on our way out too, so at the very least they are definitely losing customers throughout the day. Everyone in line was asking what was going on. We only had ice cream. It was just ok. They didn’t do a good job cleaning the scoops in between so I had another flavor mixed in with mine. No bathrooms. Definitely never going back.

Easy to miss, but you wouldn’t want to. Out with my husband running some errands, we aren’t from this area, and thought we would find somewhere different to grab a bite for lunch. Opened Unilocal and this was the closest place, so we gave it a try. We had a grilled cheese with bacon and onion rings and a soda each. This place isn’t fancy by any means. There are a few tables inside, and if it wasn’t 90 degrees we would have sat outside on the picnic benches and people watched. But it was nice and cool inside. Our food was ready in 5 minutes, and it was perfect. The onion rings were made in house fresh batter dipped, none of the frozen stuff. The grilled cheese was melty and stuffed with bacon(Yum!) The staff was very friendly and offered quick service. To top it off the bill came in under $ 20 which is awesome. After lunch we thought we would try some old fashioned hard ice cream. I ordered maple walnut, husband got the snickers. Both were creamy and delicious. This place hit the spot for two out of towners looking for something fast but good. Will visit again when in the area.

Indeed would get zero stars if it was possible. My girlfriend and I live 10 minutes from this place and, having gone here many times for ice cream, thought we would try it out for dinner. We called in a pick up order of a burger, and a fried clam dinner. The women on the phone was rude and cut me off with a quick«yup» after nearly every sentence I finished, but I brushed it of as being busy on a Friday night. We get in the car right after the call and go to pick up our food. Upon arrival, we pay(the steep price for mediocre diner food) and sit down at the indoor seating. My burger is fine, but my girlfriend points out that her fries are soggy and her clams are the consistency of a rubber tire. I brought it up to the same women who rang us out and simply asked if they could warm them up to make them a little more edible. She rolled her eyes and proceeded to ask the cook who said«they will just burn if we do that». In response, my girlfriend just stated that she would throw it away. The women at the counter just stood there looking at us like we had 10 heads then walked away. I honestly couldn’t believe this! But the icing on the cake was definitely when I asked for a manager and was pointed in the direction of a miserable women that snarked«Yeah, ya clams were cold and soggy we know, the kitchens closed so there’s nothing we can do». She also stated, «Maybe you should ask how long its going to take before you order something.» I stood there and just stared at her, hoping to get through to her human compassion buried deep under her lack of customer service and piss poor attitude. Finally, she exclaimed«Whatever just refunded them.» We then left without ice cream(which I know is delicious as it is from Richardson’s Farm) because I refused to ever give that place another cent. PS. We ended up going to the nearby Park St. Ice Cream in Natick which makes all of its ice cream from scratch and is family operated. Service is super down to earth and pleasant!

Disappointing. The food was mediocre. My husband had the fried shrimp basket, I had a hamburger with a side of onion rings, and our eight year old daughter had the chicken finger basket. The onion rings lacked any real seasoning. The hamburger, fried shrimp, and chicken fingers were all just ok. We did not have any ice cream, so I cannot speak to that. I found the service to be dis-interested…staff were not friendly. The restaurant also does not have any public restrooms. This should be posted in the door somewhere. If a restaurant has indoor seating, it should have a public restroom.

It is what it is: your average ice cream and burger stand. There is indoor seating, though it’s small. If you’re looking to get a shake(I guess they call them frappes here in Massachusetts?), a burger, or a basket of chicken fingers, you’re in the right place. Cheap; no frills; staffed by friendly local teens. A good option for kids and families.

scientific studies show that, many times, the length of the line for ice cream is directly correlated with the deliciousness of their soft serve vanilla/chocolate swirl in a wafer cone with chocolate sprinkles. can’t go wrong with an order like that at C&L… perfect for the warmer months

Good place for good, great American food milkshakes, chicken fingers, burgers & fries, it’s a great place has outdoor seating too definitely a place to bring a group of friends. Only catch is they don’t have a restroom and they don’t have somewhere to wash your hands. Also it’s a bit pricy if your trying to substitute onion rings for fries on orders etc

Great ice cream, burgers, and apparently awesome onion rings, although we didn’t have those this visit. Chicken fingers were delish too!

One of my favorite spots for onion rings, fresh hand made NOT frozen, I usually go with the fish and chips(always good), cheese burgers are always good, tasty frappes, outside seating isn’t always that clean, bees and birds are can be a nuisance and a fly swatter is a must inside and out, inside seating can be unpleasant if you like a quiet dining(noisy kids) and bad acoustics…

I try and visit C & L Frosty whenever I’m visiting the area because they have basic American fare, good quality ice cream and they serve lime rickeys! They are also conveniently located and well priced. I wish I had a place like C&L in Houston … but no such luck! My main staple food item is their chicken finger basket and fries. I find it hard to get chicken fingers cooked this perfect anywhere else and they are always consistent. It’s not one of those places that you come back a few years later and the menu is different. Depending on the weather I either get a Chocolate Frappé(no one makes Frappes like people from New England) or a Lime Rickey(people in the rest of the country don’t know what they are missing!). I look forward to my next visit to the area.

Best place for soft serve ice cream when out with kids or on a bike ride in the area. Highly recommended as a local’s best take out.

I can’t believe this place is still around, and find it even weirder that it’s actually listed on Unilocal. This was my hometown, side-of-the-road, only-open-in-the-summer-months burger shack. There’s absolutely nothing special about what they serve here. Very basic fare. Burgers, hot dogs & ice cream. The fried clams here are pretty outstanding though… full-bellied and dipped in a light, flakey batter… and cheap too… at least they were when I was a kid. That’s one thing I miss about New England… plentiful & good-quality fried clams. But even though C&L was nothing special, there *was* something special about coming here after a soccer game, or after a date, or whatever, and just hanging out. There’s something about late evening ice cream cones or raspberry lime rickeys during the summer that just hits the spot.

C & L Frosty is one of those places you have gone to eat as a kid years ago before the mega-chain fast food places like BK or Micky D’s. The burgers there are great. Tasty meat with fresh toppings. The fries are crisp and additive especially if you love ketchup on your fries. They offer you a choice of soft serve or hard ice cream for your shake unlike this chains that you have no idea what’s in the shake. You can have a soft serve cone dipped with jimmies or a hard topping… ohh man. I want one now! The place itself is small but clean and well kept with outside benches. Parking can be very tight because they share a lot with four other businesses including the local Post Office. C & L Frosty can be a little pricey but you will not leave hungry. A order of two Tuna sandwiches on white bread, lettuce etc, Chicken fingers with Fries and three shakes cost me $ 28 bucks. If your looking for something other than the chain fast food restaurants then give C & L Frosty’s try. They are good.

Disappointed in the lack of consistency with my past 3 lunch orders… I get the same thing: turkey on toasted wheat, with mayo, lettuce, and extra pickles… the first sandwich was awesome, super-fresh REAL oven roasted turkey, piled almost 3 inches high… it was too much for me, but the 2nd half of it made for a good Midnight snack later that day. The past two orders have been ‘meh’… DELI turkey(WTH!!!) maybe a total of 3 slices of ‘turkey’ used in each sandwich. These have been orders later in the day(after 6 – 7PM) so maybe the menu changes in the evening!!! lol Also, lame operating hours, the kitchen closes at 7:45PM7 days a week… guess that’s what happens out in the ‘burbs…

This is a good place to eat, like friendly’s but real! Great milk shakes, ice cream and fresh well built burgers and really hot crispy fries. Perfect for a summer day. Just be careful of the beastly owner of Sherborn Day Spa across the street. She sometimes comes out, paces her property and screams wild-eyed and drooling at the C &L Frosty patronage before she is dragged back into the building.

Good place for a soft-serve after a dip in Farm Pond. Fry-o-later turns out excellent clams(think Cape Cod), but dry fish sandwiches(think highway-rest-stop McDonald’s). Hard-serve(real) ice cream tastes better than the soft-serve, but doesn’t have that same 1950s feel…

This place is a hidden gem to eat lunch at. The fries were hot, crisp and had good potato flavor. I was pleasantly surprised to find my burger wasn’t a frozen patty but a hand formed burger with a good beefy flavor. Bun was just ordinary, but the nice thing was the burger patty was shaped to exactly fit the bun. I hate it when there is a bunch of leftover roll and no burger to go with it! Raspberry Lime Rickey was good, lime halves needed to be squeezed a bit more, but its nice to see someone still making them the right way!
