Blessed Bums Organic Diaper Service

I reached out about their compostable diaper service — they claim that they pick up Bambo Nature diapers and drop them off at a composting facility for $ 30 a month (along with a premium on the Bambo Nature diapers as you have to purchase through them). However, after doing some research, and speaking to the environmental lead at LA city waste management, it seems it is not possible to compost Bambo Nature diapers in a commercial compost facility for 2 reasons: 1) You can’t compost poopy diapers (so someone would need to go through and sort those out), 2) Only the core of the Bambo Nature diaper is compostable, so it would need to be separated out. This is stipulated in the Bambo Nature website (
). I reached out to Chris a couple of times to ask for more information and haven’t heard back. Until she does respond, I can only assume that their «compostable diapers» are actually just ending up in the landfill, and this is a scam.

This is the first time that I have ever written a review and I regret that it has to be negative. I used Blessed Bums for my first child and they were great. They were always polite, professional, and provided a quality service. Sometimes it did take a few days for them to return calls, but they did always get back to me eventually. Also, I did frequently run out of diapers and have to supplement, but on a whole I was happy. For my second child, a family member purchased a year’s worth of service for us in advance. At about six months into the service, we unexpectedly had to put the service on hold, as we had to leave the area for a time. He told us that this was fine and to call when we were ready. About six months later, I called and left a message. Three weeks after that, he left a message for me, saying he had been on vacation and to call back. I called back once a week after that for three months, and sent three emails. No one ever returned my calls or email. I guess customer service is not that important to them, nor does it matter the half a year of diapers that we didn’t receive. It makes me sad, because I really thought that they were a good company:(.

I used Blessed Bums Diaper Service from Sept 2013 until May 2015. I always had great service and very rarely had any problems. I would sometimes run out of diapers and that was a bit frustrating for the price I was paying. But overall I was very happy with my service. They always got back to me quickly with my questions. I loved using organic cloth diapers on my son and I will be using cloth again with my daughter due in Jan 2016. I plan on using Blessed Bums again :)

It has been too long since I wrote this review! Blessed Bums service was a lifesaver after my son was born. It was extremely helpful to not have to worry about washing loads of diapers with a newborn. The owners are so friendly and helpful! I will for sure be using them in the future!

I stopped by to to just see some cloth diapers. Wow! I didn’t was so many different kinds. It’s amazing store, just on organic diapered — who knew! Laura was great, so patient and knew soooo much. I didn’t buy, I was so overwhelmed but plan to go back soon. Thank you Laura.

Responsive. Professional. Helpful. Affordable. We really enjoyed our time as Blessed Bums customers. It was a godsend to know that we could navigate cloth diapering in a way that made our lives easier and less stressful. All we had to do was plop the dirty diapers on the porch and like magic, the diaper fairy delivered clean ones. When we forgot (due to lack of sleep) they were really flexible and understanding. Blessed Bums is great. Everyone is really helpful and very friendly. Response to emails and telephone calls is always within 24 hours. They work with us to make sure we get our diapers if we forget to leave our gate unlocked. We’ve been customers for eight months and couldn’t be happier.

Blessed Bums has been exactly the kind of diaper service we had hoped to find! As first time parents, we were unsure about cloth diapering, but really wanted to go with them because of how horrible disposables are for the environment. Chris at Blessed Bums really helped us make it work.
When we came home from the hospital, our child didn’t fit into the cloth diaper covers we had, and Chris helped us get the right sizes. When we couldn’t use the cloth diapers for a short time because our child’s cord stump was bleeding, Chris helped us by converting our service plan from cloth to compostable and delivered the diapers right away. And once we had it together and could go back to cloth, he made it seamless for us to switch back. No extra charges. No hassle. Everything done over email. And each delivery on-​time, as scheduled.
The quality of the diapers are great, and the price for cloth service is less than what you would pay for decent quality disposables. Plus, no washing the diapers yourself… joy!
I highly recommend working with Blessed Bums. They are a great small business to support and provide excellent customer service and advice, which is so perfect for new parents.

Cloth diapering was a totally new thing to me (Im not a hippie dippie person)… honestly I hadn’t even thought about it until I became familiar with Bini Birth and inquired about the Blessed Bums boutique I saw there. Long story short, at 4 months pregnant I dragged my husband to a free info session Laura was doing at Bini Birth and after the hour, I was sold… Laura and Chris are soo knowledgeable, so willing to help troubleshoot and they are not pushy at all with their products and services.
I have now been cloth diapering for 2 months with my DD and could not be happier– it is really not as hard or cumbersome as people make it out to be. We subscribe to the freckled service which is a few dollars cheaper per week, and we have no complaints. Dirties get picked up once a week and fresh new ones dropped off, it’s so easy. They also offer a cloth wipes service that we aren’t currently using but considering signing up for– same price per week as a pack of 80 disposable wipes (~$ 4), can beat that!
If you are at all considering cloth diapering, give it a go for a month… totally worth it… plus I hear your LO tends to be out of diapers earlier when cloth diapering vs. disposable, how awesome is that! Totally would recommend this company and cloth diapering!

Laura and Chris are great. Being new parents themselves they totally get it. In the beginning when I was a new-​new mom and had no idea about diapers, let alone cloth diapers, I had so many questions and they answered all of them patiently.
They also provided free extra diapers when I was running out of them before the end of the week. At every step they’ve been super accommodating.
Cloth diapers are a bit more difficult than regular diapers but they’re so worth it for the baby and the environment. And with a dependable service like this, it definitely gets much easier!

Love them! They’ve gone out of their way to bring me extras free of charge when I’ve run out of diapers midweek and did a switch to a larger size when my baby grew out of his size. They even did next day delivery of diaper covers I ordered from them (same cost as amazon). Such a time saver for a new mom that wants cloth diaper.

We wanted a cloth diapering service because they have the least environmental impact (both in solid waste production and water consumption). I began with another diapering service which was also great, but then saw that Blessed Bums offered organic diapers.
The online sign-​up was easy and I was able to communicate by email and phone. Both Chris and Laura are friendly, quick to respond, and tech-​savvy. The diapers are very good quality, large (helpful for my heavy soiler boy), and I never had a case of diaper rash even during bouts of diarrhea (and I was glad someone ELSE was going to clean those diapers!)
They are a local family-​owned business, and I think that you have to be a little flexible on delivery times as one reviewer complained about. I missed a drop-​off once and had to go pick up the diapers, but I always felt that Blessed Bums went out of their way to accommodate my needs.

We couldn’t be happier with this company. They deliver on time (we could practically set our watches by them!) and have been very accommodating when we first started out and needed some small premie covers (our full term baby was less than 6 lbs) and more diapers than the typical newborn load. It feels really good to put our blessed boy in organic. We are delighted!

We switched from another diaper service to save about $ 2/​week. It was a huge mistake. In the four weeks we used Blessed Bums, two deliveries arrived 12 hours later than expected and one did not arrive at all, meaning that we were left without clean diapers. When I contacted the owner for an explaination, he was totally unappologetic. In the end, he told me that the beauty of running a small business is that he doesn’t have to deal with customers he doesn’t like. We have used cloth diapers exclusively since our oldest was born, and have worked with three companies in three different cities. Blessed Bums is the only one with which we have had problems. There are several services in the area. Blessed Bums should be your last choice.

What a great local small business! The husband and wife team at Blessed Bums have been great to work with and have been so accommodating. The service is outstanding and the price is very fair compared to other diaper services. To address the one star review, you are an idiot. You clearly have no idea how a diaper service works and did no research before having your mommy buy you a gift certificate to some place because you liked the name. Then you have the nerve to come on a public forum like this and spout out about how they wouldn’t change everything they do based on your demands and ignorance. Seriously, this company is the best. As a new mom, they were such a pleasure to work with. New parents themselves, it’s obvious that they truly care about what they are selling. They came and did a consultation with my husband, both grandmas and myself and the customer service has been outstanding since day 1. Plus, I’m all the way in Torrance and they still made sure to add me to their route. I HIGHLY recommend Blessed Bums!

We used Blessed Bums Organic Diaper service for the first 6 months of my son’s life, and they were AWESOME. I was attracted to this company because their practices are extremely «green» and «clean”– other options for diaper service in our area used toxic chemicals in their cleaning process, but not Blessed Bums! It was also affordable at $ 22/​week (for delivery in Tarzana) with NO STARTUP COSTS! That’s key. You just have to buy a handful of diaper covers and a few other supplies (like a diaper pail), but you can purchase those anywhere – or better yet, put them on your baby registry. I found Blessed Bums prices on gear to be competitive though.
The owners, Chris and Laura, are very friendly, approachable and eager to help. 10 stars for customer service! Upon signing up for the service (a few months before my due date), they both came out to give my husband and I a demonstration and answer any questions we had. They delivered a week’s worth of prefold diapers two weeks before my son’s due date. When my son came home, he was already too big for the ‘newborn’ size prefold diapers which fit babies up to 9 pounds. Blessed Bums came out THAT DAY to swap them for the next size up.
A few months later, when my baby was sleeping 11 – 12 hours at night and therefore needing more absorbency for that long stretch, I asked Laura for advice. She gave me three approaches to try and delivered extra diapers in a bigger size, as well as some in a smaller size to try using as doublers. It was SO great to be able to experiment to find what worked for me, without having to go buy anything.
There was never a time when I didn’t have enough diapers to get through the week. And if I needed extras to go on a road trip or something, Blessed Bums had no problem delivering what I needed.
At 6 months I decided to start doing my own diaper laundry, and Blessed Bums even offered their advice to help me with the transition. I will definitely be using them again when the next baby comes along!
They keep adding more styles of diaper covers and other products to their inventory, and I even received some samples of natural skin care products here and there with my deliveries. cool!
I could go on and on… This is an awesome business that I recommend to anyone in LA interested in cloth diapering. If you think cloth diapering is too hard, or too expensive, or too gross, or too whatever… THINK AGAIN! It really is EASY, and I think it’s pretty cool that I don’t even need a trash can near the changing table.

It is great to have organic cloth diapers and a great home business to help you when needed. Always calls right back, even the weekends. The diapers are great quality, would not put my baby in anything but blessed bums products. Cloth diapering is not what it use to be, super easy with the help of blessed bums. The best part it is green friendly!

50% refunds are given for unused prepaid weeks, so I wouldn’t feel bad about getting someone a gift certificate. Blessed Bums uses Bummis (I didn’t know those were organic cotton). Call a week in advance to freeze service if you go on vacation. Delivery of prefolds costs $ 22/​week. I don’t think I’m in their service area because they serve northwestern LA County, arrgh.
If you forget to set out your diapers the driver will try to call you (call five days before the end of the billing cycle if you plan to cancel). If you move, you need to notify them a week in advance. If you run out of diapers, they’ll deliver more mid-​week for $ 1 each. Pick ups are early in the morning. Sanitation includes hot washes, soaking, and warm water rinses to make sure all the soap is removed.
Stolen bags will cost you $ 2 per diaper and the price of a replacement pail liner. The husband and wife who founded it have a customer service/​hospitality background. The service is ideal for people who don’t want to rinse or soak cloth diapers (give them your address, how much the baby weighs, and special delivery instructions to set up service). They deliver on holidays except for Christmas and Thanksgiving. You can pay monthly by leaving the check taped to the bag or through the mail.
