I met with Ms Campbell today for a $ 175 consultation. I found her to be incredibly knowledgeable, direct, and very helpful in understanding my options. I love the fact that she was reassuring and actually proposed a solution and approach that did NOT involve litigation!
I really respect that she did not just try to create a case, rather find an amicable resolution without litigation. After our 25 minute chat, we even spent some time talking about personal matters just getting to know each other. Loved that she didn’t try to rush us out.

I met with Frances Campbell and Nima Farahani this afternoon for legal guidance on a judgment filed by my former landlord. Frances and Nima quickly determined the unlawful detainer was invalid for improper service and thoroughly explained potential next steps. They were very candid about the cost of litigation potentially exceeding the amount of the judgment, and I was so surprised when Frances offered to make a phone call right on the spot to the landlords attorney to help me resolve this nightmare. I ended up with a clear strategy which would have never been possible without their expertise. Most importantly, it was very obvious that these two individuals really care about helping tenants who have been unfairly victimized by unscrupulous landlords. I highly recommend this law firm to anyone needing a tenant advocate.

I was referred to Frances Campbell by my labor attorney for a landlord/​tenant case. I found Frances Campbell to be virtually helpless, obnoxious and less educated on the ordinances of West Hollywood Rent Stabilization than myself. First, she requires an initial $ 175 fee prior to even conversing on the phone. She gave me a max of 10 minutes and gave no advice whatsoever. I found her to be very condescending and «bothered» by my questions. I paid her, the least she could do is try. I notified my attorney right away that if he cares about his reputation, he would never recommend Frances again. She was a big waste of time and money! My case is a very simple one and she estimated her involvement to be at a cost of at least $ 7,000! (at $ 500/​hour!)

We won.
We had a very complicated case that took over a year to come to trial.
I fired a previous attorney, who had made a number of legal blunders… and he didn’t even seem to understand my side.
I went to Campbell & Farahani. They took over the case, and within a day, they had a clear legal argument, and they were confident that I should win.
They were right!

Called the office and Brenda Picked up and asked her a few questions and she quickly said that they only offer office consultation and that the lawyers will not talk over the phone unless they get paid. If the lawyer wants $ 175 for consultation right up front without listening to me and my case, its clear that this firm is all about money. Had heard good things about the lawyers and would have wanted to be represented by them, however the clerk needs to know how to speak with possible clients and the lawyers need to have a 10 minute conversation before wanting that kind of money up front. Disappointing!!!

Ms. Campbell and Mr. Farahani assisted me with breaking my lease early in an apartment complex where my upstairs neighbor was abusive, and created so much noise and distraction, it severely limited the peaceful enjoyment of my apartment, and contributed to my severe anxiety. Both Fran and Nima sat with me in a low pressure, compassionate manner, listened to my ‘story’, and agreed to take action immediately. What was initially meant to be a ‘consultation’ appointment, turned into a two hour ‘lets help her immediately’ session, which included an official letter to the apartment’s legal office describing my Army Veteran status, and demanding that they adhere to the disability laws. I am now able to move early, and end my lease without any financial or adverse consequences. My time with Campbell & Farahani, LLP, was hands down the most professional experience. The level of expertise, and overall kindness that was shown to me by Ms. Campbell and Mr. Farahani was above and beyond any legal assistance I have ever received. It is also worth noting, that from my initial phone call, to the closing of my case, the receptionist was always so kind, and personable. I am forever grateful for their exemplary legal team, and office staff.

In January of this year, my landlord served me with a SIXTY DAY NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF TENANCY after 20 years of tenancy in my Hollywood apartment. Specifically, they attempted to force me out by claiming I was the last tenant to occupy the building and they needed my apartment for a family member to occupy. Basically, they wanted me out given I am paying well below market rent and they could eventually rent my apartment at market rates.
Enter Attorneys, Fran Campbell and her law partner Nima Farahani. Prior to finding Ms. Campbell, I had met with 3 attorneys and paid their consultation fees (big waste) before I was finally referred to Ms. Campbell by Attorney, Ed Sands (In Larchmont) who is a really nice and helpful man, but too busy to take my case.
After meeting with Ms. Campbell and explaining my case, she agreed to try and help. She advised that if we were to go to trial that my costs could be in excess of $ 13k due to the amount of preparation and discovery that would be needed; court costs; depositions and various legal procedures leading up to a trial. Thus, the goal in these type cases is to try and get a settlement as quickly as possible prior to going to trial in an effort to save the client money. BTW, all the attorneys I either spoke to or met with quoted similar legal fees as Ms. Campbell’s for a case to go to trial.
Given my landlord was not willing to settle for anything less than complete eviction, I made the decision to spend what ended-​up being over $ 15k and go to trial. Along the way, my landlord’s attorneys attempted to intimidate us by dragging me into a deposition and asking me everything from where I went to elementary school to who visited me and how long they stayed. In addition, they served my direct supervisor where I worked with a supenona the day before he was to go out of town on a family vacation. Completely irrelevant and dubious!
After sitting down with both Ms. Campbell and Mr. Farahani and providing details of my situation, as well as the history of the building, they brilliantly and immediately determined that my landlord was attempting to break RSO laws by 1) acting in bad faith 2) Claiming that I was the last tenant to occupy the premises for an apartment that they «needed» even though the tenants in the front of the building (paying market rates) had only occupied their units for a year. Per RSO statute, the last tenant in had to be the first tenant evicted in order for a family member to occupy a unit. Thus, this was the crux of our case.
The long and short of this story is that we ended-​up going to trial which lasted for 3 of the 4 scheduled days, and on the night before the case was to go to the jury, my landlord called Ms. Campbell and offered to settle. We agreed and I kept my apartment under the same rent rate and terms and everyone paid their legal fees.
It is my belief that Ms. Campbell and Mr. Farahani were making such a strong, aggressive case against my landlord and their apparently inexperienced attorneys (who made several legal blunders leading up to and during trial) concluded they would have lost this case on a jury decision and would have had to pay my legal fees in addition to letting me stay. Thus, they made the decision to settle.
Finally, Ms. Campbell is professional & respectful, but definitely a no-​nonsense & direct person. You know where she stands and what to expect. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand and coddle you, then you should keep moving along as she will not be for you. But, these same traits of hers are assets (IMO) given she was tough as nails when it came to dealing with my landlord and the two attorneys they hired with one being an arrogant, rude, high-​priced Beverly HIlls attorney who thought he could intimidate both me and my attorneys. Neither Ms. Campbell nor her team was intimidated by anyone, and she was calm as a cucumber during the entire 8-​month process giving me facts and advising her strategy when I inquired. At one point she did make it clear to me that she would not allow me to litigate this case, given I can be somewhat of a control freak, and that I would either have to trust she and her strategy, or find another attorney. I respected her position and got on board. I highly recommend she and her team without reservation.

The Rudest Staff Ever.
After making an appt through Victoria who took my credit card and was extremely rude and nasty. I asked to leave a voice mail for the Lawyer Frances. Victoria hung up the phone on me. I called back and left a message for France’s Campbell telling her about my experience. No call back.
however I did get a call back from Victoria cancelling my appt. and again hanging up on me.
When I called back another receptionist got on the phone this time a man and said.
we are not the Law firm for you.
Looks like The staff in in Frances Campbell’s office are truly in charge and look out if Victoria is in a bad mood you will be abused.
I am not sure about her ability as I never did see here but I do know that the best Tenant Lawyer is Sonya Bekoff Molho who is now retired.

I am a 19 year old college student and i came to campbell and farahani because i live in a crappy apartment and there was an accident in my place. Long story i needed legal advice and/​or legal interference with the situation i was going through. Mr. Farahani treated me with respect and he listened and took me serious. The advice and knowledge he gave me is what allowed me to continue standing up for myself against housing management who believe that they have sovereignty and ultimate power over their tenants. Thank you farahani because i would have been standing alone.

Frances came to my rescue! I was having horrible issues with my landlord. When I reached out to her she was prompt and extremely knowledgable. She gave me sound advice that actually allowed me to avoid litigation and find a reasonable solution. Her advice protected me financially and got me some control over the situation, instead of being subject to the whims of my nightmare landlord. She really knows her stuff and tells it like is. I felt like she cared and understood the importance of having a healthy living situation. I trust her and would refer her to anyone.

I will concur with the other 1 star reviews about Fran Campbell… If I could give this review NO stars I would. Rude, Condescending, arrogant., impolite. not in any way even cordial.
My $ 175 consultation lasted 5 minutes at most before I just walked out due to the reasons others mentioned. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE people, do NOT waste a minute on this sham of a lawyer Fran Cambpell.

I’ve been having issues with my landlord, and after about two hours on Avvodotcom I decided I wanted to speak with Frances Campbell before speaking to anyone. I made this decision based on what was being said in her reviews – not that they were highly rated.
I’ve had plenty of experience with attorneys so far in life (unfortunately). Attorneys are a rare breed: they can save your life or make it worse. When you turn to a lawyer it’s because you need their help. Some lawyers aren’t gifted, meaning they can’t/do not think of what, when, why, where, and how to win this case. Some are gifted and do so naturally. Some are gifted and/​or skilled enough to do so but don’t because, put frankly – they’re A-​HOLES. They take your $case$ and leave you at their mercy of laziness??? It’s your LIFE! Not your chocolate chip cookies!
My experience with Frances started off a bit rough; I look and seem like an idiot (and maybe am one), so it was a little hard to get the consultation as soon as I needed it, but she was kind enough to squeeze me in.
My consultation with Frances Campbell went kinda like this: I had about an hour with the best attorney I have met so far in life.
If I could afford to put Frances on retainer for life I would. She thinks her way through the case. She uses all perspective. Her advice is sound, sincere, and compassionate. She is skilled and competent. She didn’t exactly tell me what I wanted to hear, but she did her job, and she did it very well. She listened, she helped without bias, and without challenge.
Hire Frances Campbell…; and, do it now!

First meeting with this firm could not have gone better. I have read some of the other reviews and am surprised at the negativity. My experience was very positive.
Tonight, after stressing about my situation for almost 5 months now, I will sleep easy. I am almost hoping that my management company continues fighting with me so I can unleash Campbell & Farahini on them!

I was a tenant in a building that was slated to undergo 6 months of major renovation. The project would cause noise and disruption which would devastate my ability to work from home. Based on the information we received from our landlord, I believed I would be eligible for relocation assistance, and so I moved. When I asked for my payment, my landlord refused, telling me I’d misunderstood the information I was given. It was then that I sought legal counsel. I found Campbell & Farahani’s website, and was very impressed. I scheduled a consultation. They were wonderful. They took one look at my info and verified that I was indeed eligible for relocation assistance. They said my case was very cut and dry and encouraged me to file in small claims court. Needless to say, if I ever have another need for a tenant rights lawyer, I’ll definitely be calling Fran and Nima.

After doing some due diligence on my part, I searched and discovered Campbell & Farahini. I felt assured by Fran’s confidence in my case and reassured by her actions. She followed up with phone calls and kept me in the loop at all times. I would strongly recommend this law firm to all my clients and friends. Needless to say, I won my case and we are happy campers.

Campbell & Farahini is the one (only one) law firm I trust to refer tenants too. In my experience, many attorneys say they understand the law but because they work for landlords, they do not see the tenant’s point of view as well as Ms. Campbell. Fran Campbell sees ways to help her clients and she fights for them.
Because I represent consumers sued by debt collectors or being harassed by collectors, I referred many clients to Ms. Campbell over the past four-​five years and I never heard a complaint. Several people later told me they were so glad they contacted her — whether she took their case to help them or whether she told them they really did not have many legal options.
The law is not always favorable to tenants and I trusted Campbell & Farahani not to take my clients’ money when there were no good legal arguments to be made, but they found ways to help people in situations where I saw nothing.
I will absolutely continue to refer my Los Angeles friends and former clients to Campbell & Farahani, LLP.

Wow. Now you owe me an apology. Before you attack someone’s integrity by accusing them of lies, deceit or manipulation — you would be wise to check your facts. I _​was_​returning your call. You left me a VM on 9−21−12, at 1:07pm, and here is the VM:

But you’ve got the story wrong there too. I didn’t «threaten» to leave a bad review on Unilocal (as anyone can see, I don’t review much). I mentioned that I had *already read* very poor reviews here, and that after talking to you, they seemed SPOT ON.
Don’t shoot the messenger, I was trying to make you aware of your online reputation here, since it seems you’ve never taken the time to attack anyone else who has posted about your poor people skills.
You also try to characterize the conversation as if I got mad and «hung up» on you. The truth is, you didn’t want to hear anything about your reviews here, and you were dead silent on the other end, and then after a creepy several seconds of silence you said «thank you», and remained silent. It didn’t seem like there was anything left to say, you stopped speaking entirely… was I to waste my time listening to you breathe, simmering in your passive-​aggressiveness? I was pretty creeped out by this time.

* She has FOUR 1-​Star reviews in the past 4 months, all saying the same thing about her additude and lack of professionialism.
* Almost all of the good reviews have been «filtered» because Unilocal believes they are not genuine reviews.
* That her response to my poor review was to accuse me of deceit, and try to discredit my objectivity.
I think it’s pretty clear which end is up. :o)

Atrocious Firm. Called to get some information for my mother and spoke with the attorneys directly. Guess they had me on speaker or something, both were RUDE, UNHELPFUL and just plain UNPROFESSIONAL. The funny thing is that they claim to help «PEOPLE.» Yeah right! Any firm that treats prospective clients in such a manner should get any and all negative publicity possible. Please save your breath and money. Don’t contact this firm by any means necessary.

I was listening to KFWB and an Atty from this law firm was a guest on the Money 101 show taking tenant/​landlord calls. She answered my question clearly and succinctly and saved me from a big headache! If I have any further trouble with my landlord I won’t hesitate to give them a call.
