It was an old Genmai restaurant for years then Kyoto Sushi and now Nami Sushi in 2007… same lot with In-​Out Burger, Pacific Theather at corner of Van Nuys & Moorpark plenty of parking spaces.

I ordered the lobster roll and it was awful and sour tasting. I didn’t eat it and asked that it be removed from my bill since it was gross and made me sick to my stomach. They refused and told me no refunds! They didn’t even offer us something else. Such an odd experience.

Our current favorite sushi place. The fish, particularly the ones flown in from Japan, couldn’t be better. The rolls are good, but I feel they don’t compare to the straight fish. Usually order albacore, yellowtail and salmon. And they have Sapporo on tap.
The décor is very plain, but the service is good. But for me, it’s always about the food and Hanami has great fish!

Great sushi spot!
A TON of parking, pretty big place with tables and a great size sushi bar.
Décor and ambiance were right! Service was friendly, no complaints there.
To start we had the Salmon Sashimi with Avocado Appetizer — it was excellent! If I was alone I would just order that.
We also had the snow crab roll and Lobster Roll. Both were excellent! I recommend this place if you are dining with people that prefer western-​Americanized sushi because they have yummy cooked rice paper rolls and all of the yummy true sushi staples. Everyone can find something to eat here. I saw on the menu they also have Japanese entrees and noodle dishes.

had a sushi craving and was driving by so decided to take a chance… not disappointed at all. sushi was super fresh, super delicious, the presentation was nice and tight. I’ll say it again: the quality here is very good and if you’ve been eating sushi for a while and been to different restaurants, you can tell the difference right away. definitely coming back.

Finally a great sushi place in Sherman Oaks with awesome service and fresh fish!!! My travels to Japan and eating omakase fish market sushi have brought my standards to an all time high. Other than SugarFish on the Westside I hadn’t found a place good enough for me to go back to in the Valley… until now. Yay! The service here beats all and they are nice, attentive and welcoming. I came here on a Monday when it wasn’t crowded but still, it was fantastic. I ordered salmon, yellowtail, yellowtail toro, amber jack, Japanese mackerel sushi and ankimo (monkfish liver). Sat at the sushi bar and met June the sushi chef. Order whatever TORO is available and their special because you won’t go wrong. I’ll be back for more!!!

Great Service, Tasty Fish, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. My miso soup was delicious, and not too salty. Very attentive chefs and servers, very impressed with perfectly timed drink replacements.
They have some wonderful lunch specials that will satisfy your hunger for around $ 15 that include sashimi, tempura, salad, and cut rolls.
This place seems very accommodating for a very large groups and I have never had to wait to get in.
My three star review is because of overall food quality and the plethora of menus you have to look through to find what you want.
I don’t want to read a book when I go out to eat, I want a quick and easy ordering experience.
This is a nice, and affordable place to eat sushi with friends. I will Mander back here from time to time for that very purpose.

Best Spicy Tuna over Crispy Rice i have tried. I also love the Shrimp Hurricane Roll.
Overall this is a very good sushi restaurant. Friday and Saturday nights, the fish seems to be fresher, but nonetheless I am rarely disappointed with this place.

I enjoyed Hanami very much.
Had the Chirashi-​zushi for 18 $… A bit pricey but good enough to justify the somewhat hefty price tag. The staff was friendly and attentive especially with drinks. And it’s nice to actually hear sushi chefs speaking Japanese at a sushi restaurant (which seems to be becoming uncommon these days).
Apparently on Fridays if you order chirashi you can get a glass of wine or umeshu for one penny (yeah). I haven’t had umeshu in years so I went for it. Sweet drinks are really not my thing, I realize. I could only finish half of it.
I recommend this place as a more laid back and casual alternative to Sugarfish, Teru Sushi and Kiwami.

Came here for dinner tonight and we were impressed with everything we ordered.
My favorite was the Baked Salmon Roll followed by the CCY roll and spicy tuna on crispy rice.
Probably the best sushi in the Valley, right up there with Katsuya, IMO.
Service was good and helpful.

It hardly seems fair to review a sushi spot without trying anything fancy from the bar, but alas, I was in the mood for Udon. I happened upon this place after a Chiro appt. when I was famished and looking for something tasty in the area. After getting lost and being spit out in Food Central USA, AKA Ventura Blvd… I pulled off to the side and found this little spot off of Milbank st, which I’m only familiar with for seeing Black Swan at the dinky theatre there a few years back.
The décor was casual-​chic and the service was attentive; sometimes I just want to be left alone to decide what I want without being asked every couple minutes, but better that than being ignored. My green tea and water was being filled before I finished them.
So, after being a bought of clinical indecision, famon nudged me towards a basic lunch of Udon noodles and Spicy Tuna that tasted just fine and was perfectly satisfying. I can’t say «I’m a fan,» because it’s not something that I would go out of my way for and it’s a simple lunch I had. Please don’t take the 3 stars to mean that there is anything unsuitable about this place, it’s exactly what it says: A-​Ok! :)

We’ve been here twice and think the food is just okay.
We’ve tried their sushi and bento boxes with chicken and beef teriyaki, ginger pork.
Their teriyaki sauce tastes like they only use soy sauce, so we don’t care for it. Their nigiri sushi is small in size, but tastes okay.
The biggest complaint we have about them is their lack of service. They’re slow to prepare the food and the waitstaff is simply non-​attentive.

What a great place for lunch. Hanami Sushi has a great variety selections on lunch combo. Their lunch special price ranges from $ 5.95 -$ 14.95. Not a bad deal at all, plus it was a pretty good size portion. The service was excellent and attentive.
FOOD:
Chicken Bowl: I was surprise how flavorful this dish was, and for $ 5.95 it was a great for the kids to share.
Sashimi Salad &Roll Combo: My wife got this. The Albacore Sashimi Salad had wonderful slices of albacore. The dressing was good. The California roll was just your typical roll, and same goes for the spicy tuna handroll.
Chirashi bowl: This was excellent. This came with 8 different types of fish (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, mackerel, white fish, seared tuna, and shrimp) and for $ 14.95 I recommend getting it!
We had a great lunch, and wouldn’t mind coming back at all !

This is a cute little place in a busy parking lot filled with lots of other stores. This restaurant is small but just the right size.
What’s great about this place is that it’s never too busy and the customer service is excellent! It is very clean and the food always taste fresh.
The food is reasonable priced and they have a great happy hour! I have ordered the chicken teriyaki, vegetables rolls, California rolls, spicy tuna, spicy scallop, shrimp tempura, and baked mussels. Also the Yellowtail, and albacore sushi is really fresh.
What I like best is that they offer brown rice and I love my sushi rolls with brown rice!!! Might seem silly but I appreciate those little things!

Me and my sister came here because we were in the neighborhood and I wanted sushi and we wanted to take a chance on a place we’ve never been before. The food was great, and the service was quick and friendly. They have a different happy hour special each day which is really cool.
Recommend:

Only thing I have to say is that the spicy tuna is a bit heavy on the mayo, so I’d say to tell them not to mix it into the the tuna.

Came here for a late dinner with a friend. No wait on a Wednesday night at 8pm, and the service was great. Shared a few rolls — our favorite was the spicy shrimp hurricane roll (I think that was it’s name.) The jalapeño salmon sashimi was really good too (not on the menu, but they’ll make it if you ask), as was the baked sea bass roll on soy paper. Everything tasted fresh, and the flavors were interesting — some of them just weren’t my thing. I’d definitely like to try a few more items on the menu that caught my attention.
