Ma Yoga® for Pregnancy, Motherhood & Beyond offers yoga for pregnant women and new moms in comfortable, accessible non-yoga studio locations.

We provide classes where women can come together, share experiences, get guidance, make friends, and align muscles, breath, mind and heart so mama can feel pain-free, powerful and free during this exciting time of our lives.

Our teachers have all studied therapeutic, alignment-based yoga, which means we have special training in relieving common pregnancy aches and pains through our step-by-step, easy to follow alignment instructions. And it’s not just physical: mamas report that after each class they feel aligned with their best self, their inner wisdom and power, and the Mom they are becoming.

With a little guidance and support, the journey to motherhood and beyond can be full of joy and wonderfully empowering.

We specialize in prenatal yoga, pregnancy, doula, birth support, new mom, post-partum, Lactation consultants, Mommy and me and Baby and me

History

Established in 2009.

Ma Yoga® for Pregnancy, Motherhood & Beyond is a supportive community of yoga teachers, birth practitioners, moms and moms-to-be who enjoy Prenatal Yoga and Mom + Baby yoga in comfortable, non-yoga studio locations.

Ma Yoga® grew from one space to 4 in a year, and by 2015 there were 10 locations. Because pregnant women benefit so much from calming their minds, strengthening their bodies and learning to listen to their inner guide, teachers are getting certified and partnering up with new locations to create their own Mama Circles at a growing rate.

Ma Yoga® teachers share a common desire: to guide moms and moms-to-be to find their authentic selves on the journey to motherhood and beyond; to help women align body, breath, mind and heart so they can access their innate power, wisdom, and nurturing energy; and to create supportive communities so mamas can find support and new mom friends in their own neighborhoods.

Meet the Business Owner

Jessica J.

Business Owner

I started teaching Prenatal Yoga in 2001, when I knew nothing about pregnancy — I assumed it was a beautiful time when women feel like a goddess. I learned quickly that this was far from the truth: pregnant women and new moms often feel isolated and anxiety-ridden, in pain and exhausted.

For my Masters thesis (MS in Exercise Science), I created a group visit and yoga program for pregnant women at Kaiser Permanente. Working with doctors and nurses for 6 years, I learned that eastern and western medicine complement each other well, and decided to create the Yoga Alliance registered Prenatal School and the year-long Ma Yoga® Certification Program for yoga teachers.

As an evolving community, we continue to draw from the tradition of yoga as well as the latest research to support each other and the moms, moms-to-be, partners, birth practitioners and babies.
