Ralph’s is my go-​to! No matter what I need, no matter what time. Always open, fully stocked with food AND the most welcoming staff.

This store doesn’t even deserve a star, however I previously worked there for less than a month and they are extremely unprofessional. I only worked in the Starbucks which was Hell ! The manager in Starbucks Tanya needs to get fired asap ! She is a horrible manager and has questionable work ethics. She also lets her coworkers gossip all day and lets them play their music on the bluetooth and lets just say thug music shouldn’t be played on your shift .I worked at the Ralph’s on Ventura blvd and Hazeltine for 1 ½ years and it was decent but when they transferred me to this store on Van Nuys and Burbank Blvd it was the most horrible experience ! I advise no one to work for Ralph’s ! Its not even worth it … Also as a former customer, at 12 midnight there is only 1 guy at the register when there is 15 people in line and he’s slow but it’s not entirely his fault and it takes like 15 mins for someone in the back to help him by opening up another register

Lovely to be left in line while a guy who is obviously high on something, is taking forever to return a bottle of vanilla, then purchasing cigarettes while fumbling with his id, while trying to get my name and ask me out… then find him outside giving them to other people as i walked to my car. The checker did not care and acted like I was the problem when I said something.

I’ve been avoiding writing this because SOME employees are sweet. But on a few occasions I’ve walked out completely bewildered by the lack of customer service here, mainly by the deli/​bakery people. When the salad bar is missing items & request it I get an attitude. I opened the lower cabinet looking for dressing cups & containers & a few employees walked by totally ignoring me, none offered to help or get the items to put in the empty bar area.
Today I waited in line for my turn to purchase a baked potato & I brought a container that I put on top of the deli. The lady put my my baked potato in a standing up container which defeated the purpose of the baked potato since everything fell off of it. Before I can even ask to pay for it she walks away and starts helping the next customer. I try to get her attention & ask if she can ring me up she replies & tells me she’s assisting other customers & id have to wait in line (there’s like 4 people in line at this point). I said I had been waiting in line and was here before everyone else so why would I wait all over. She gave me the dirtiest look & I simply just walked away before I really lost it.

This Ralphs is actually NOT in Sherman Oaks, though the powers that be may want you to think it is. It is close to the border of Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys, but it is actually located in Van Nuys. This used to be Hughes market many moons ago. My family used to shop here when we lived in Van Nuys and I have fond memories of it from when I was a little girl:) I remember the people who worked there were all super, super nice. Hopefully, the current Ralphs employees are just as nice. I visit the area about once a year, but I have not gone in there in years… probably since it was Hughes.

My local Ralph’s! I like it, I’ve just gotten so used to it that even when I go to the new Ralph’s I still come back to that one, I know exactly where everything is so it’s very convenient and close. I love it.

I had never seen such a dirty supermarket I had use this location for 25+ years, they keep changing the staff in the last 6 months Is just getting worst by the minute :(. Time to go somewhere else

2 times I was at this Ralphs and 2 times they had their goons follow me around. I have been in the grocery business since I was out of high school and before some of these KIDS were even born. Someone should school these punks. They were so obvious.

I prefer the Ralph’s on Ventura. A lot more variety in that store and better staffed. This location being staffed appropriately is hit or miss. However, customer service is usually pretty good which is why I added a star to the 2 Id give if the customer service was crap. I live less than a mile from this location, and sometimes Ill drive the extra almost 2 miles to go to the Ventura Blvd location.

It’s fun.

I’m really surprised at the low rating of this place. First of all, it’s open 24 hours which is super convenient. Second it seams as if this store is always fully stocked and the labeling on the isle is wonderful! It goes super into detail rather than most stores that just have the basic up top isle number markers and this makes it way quicker to get shopping done. And third and the most important to me: CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Cashiers are smiley, patient and friendly and there are employees everywhere in the store to help out and making sure you’re able to find everything, as well as friendly knowledgable managers!

I don’t really like to review grocery stores because i get in, get what i need and leave, therefore nothing to justify a low rating, but this morning I had the worst experience at this location.
I usually go to this ralphs cause it’s on my way to work and it’s open 24 hours. I usually get there at 6am and they’re still setting up. Some of the crew members are really nice and will move their carts, or apologize for blocking an aisle, i appreciate that.
I walk in this morning and all I wanted was a couple of sparkling waters. The 2 men setting up the front freezer section, i couldn’t believe my ears! Right in front of me, the cashier or stocker was showing such blatant disrespect for his co-​worker, lead? saying (in a very loud voice) «no, i will not follow the diagram, don’t worry i got this, i’m doing it correctly i don’t need to look at the plano, you’re wrong I don’t care what it says, i don’t need it, etc» Ok, you’ve got a problem with the diagram? that’s fine, but don’t argue in front of the customers. Not only was he being disrespectful towards his supervisor (or whatever) but he was being disrespectful towards me as well. I don’t need to hear that, I just want to get in and get out.
Next time, train the people who handle your stock a little better. Even if he doesn’t work the registers, he needs to learn some manners.

My husband and I shop here all the time… The place is convenient as it’s such a short drive for us. I usually have a nice time shopping here, a lot of their employees are nice and friendly, but there are a few that just aren’t…
Love that we get .20 cents off per gallon on gas at Shell :)

I will admittedly say that Im an easy going gal and I appreciate friendliness from the staff while I’m shopping for my food. Most of the time I don’t really need anything from the staff and greatly enjoy perusing the store. Granted, if you’re in a rush and need help, you may be hard-​pressed to get speedy help. Personally, I shop when I know I have time so this has never really been an issue for me.
The quality of the materials I take home is satisfactory and reasonably priced for the item. In LA I think it’s commonplace to shop at multiple stores in order to get the best deals, so I won’t buy certain items here and opt for TJ, F&E, and Sprouts, but otherwise I can get my weekly items here. Beautiful cheese section, extensive wine section, and the sushi is not to be overlooked either!
I have been shopping here with increasing frequency over the last few months and whether I’m shopping in the middle of the night (which is ultra convenient), or midday I still find service to be ok. I have never picked up bad meat here as described in another review, nor have I encountered the same rudeness others may have encountered. I know Unilocalers are quick to get on and vent about a bad experience but I can honestly say that I’ve seen a lot of good qualities in service. Yes, the woman at the deli can be a bit curt, and yes the checkers may be a little chatty with each other but I haven’t had any problems. There is however a deadly long line during rush hour and checkers seem a little swamped but if you shop non-​prime time you’re just fine.

RACIAL PROFILING
A white manager felt the need to ask me if I paid for my groceries because of the way I dressed.
A couple weeks ago there was an incident with one of their managing staff. It’s 45 degrees at night and I’m wearing shorts and a hoodie. after purchasing my groceries I proceeded to exit the store. a bag of bulk nuts ripped so I rebagged my nuts. as I was leaving the parking lot a white manager said to me hey man do you have a receipt for that stuff. to which I replied yes I paid for my stuff do you want to come check. I was undoubtably angry at the time and must have scared the man because I was wearing a hoodie at the time. the manager went back inside and didn’t say a word.
I shop here all the time he should at least say «excuse me sir» all semantics aside the manager was obviously racist and I can no longer support his business. Luckily where I work there is a Sprouts farmers market just down the street I will be shopping there more often. I have never had a problem with this Ralph’s staff until now and it makes me someone sad that I have to write a bad review. I still feel strongly and will demand an apology the next time I see the guy.
It’s this kind of fear and racial profiling. that gets black men like me killed every day.

Okay re did the store started going back. BUT just like Target people check you receipts
10:30pm all bulk bakery items 50% off got 4 bagels they were stale but OK for toaster. I knew that BUT charged full price. If you are not on top you get ripped off.
I just am so done with having to look at every purchase and make sure the items ring up right.
Where to go to get the customer service as price rise up and up…
just one more thing I love the sales,… More money for the item then the week before when it was off sale. And Ralphs is still taking down the BIG sign the one that says the fried chicken fresh and ready between 5:30 and 7:30pm or it is free. When they run out the sign comes down I get a good laugh at that. One day I will be there with my camera ready to video

This Ralph’s is okay. It is what it is, just like any other grocery store. The only down side is their parking lot. Seems like when everyone decides to go to this same store no one knows how to park or drive around the parking lot. Traffic in the parking lot. I thought Trader Joe’s parking lot is bad, that Ralph’s store is just as bad. Also, there are just too many solicitors there.

I swear I will do everything possible to avoid this place.
The most rude staff I’ve ever had to deal with– including leadership.
Robotic in their manners with a crappy attitude.
This place survives on the number games from the community and being a store of major chain, but trust me — people are changing and you may not be around with this low standard of customer service.

Came in this afternoon after work, and was in need for veggies & fruits! I approach the produce department and was greeted by JOSE V. He is always such a nice gentleman. I ask him for some green beans. And went out of his way to bring some from the back. I asked about the apples and he gave me a sample, since i asked for it. He made me take about 4 pounds of apples! Which I’ve already cut up and added peanut butter! :) I’m one happy gal!
The cashiers are always so friendly and nice! They make customers feel like family! There is never more than 3 customers in line. Which makes the trip to the market fast and convenient.

The remodeling helped but still come home only to discover rotten produce all the time. 50% of the employees are friendly the other are jerks dont even say hi. The guy at self checkout defiantly has a attitude problem and you can tell he hates his job. Slow to re stock produce on Sunday evenings. Way to many solicitors by both doors. Management needs to wake up and stop this .enough is enough
Self check out and cashier check out are dirty. Clean people not just at night!!!
