I had been given a dress that is in a style that needs to be fitting perfectly. I am somewhat curvy, and a girlfriend that it would be hopeless. Roya performed her magic and it ended up fitting perfectly and I have gotten compliments every time I wore it to special occasions. She also rescued a linen skirt that had some tears by adding a lovely satin decoration that made the skirt look like new.

Roya is the most talented seimstress with a loving presence! She creates any dress that you want made. She fixes jeans and skirts where they look brand new and fit perfect. I never worked with anyone as talented as she is. Thank you Roya!

Unfortunately, although she was recommended to me, my experience here for my wedding dress was one of the most stressful parts of my entire wedding. I took my dress in 7 weeks prior to my wedding (to intentionally avoid last minute stress). My quote was more expensive than what my bridal shop had quoted (and they are a high end store) – I was able to talk her down a couple of dollars and proceeded hoping her quality of work would be worth the $ 500 for the minimal alterations my dress needed.
She cancelled one of my fittings 30 minutes before it was scheduled, which was really too bad because I had driven up to Sherman Oaks and rearranged my work day to accommodate the fitting. This was 10 days prior to my wedding.
She took in part of the dress that fit me perfectly beforehand, and the new seam bunched and rippled the dress. She asked if I was on my period and bloated to see if she could pass the blame of the dress pulling on ME, but that wasn’t the case. She «tried» to fix it a handful of times but it looked exactly the same after each «try.» I honestly don’t think she ever attempted to redo the seam until my last visit two days before my wedding when I was nearly in tears and brought in a friend with a fashion design background and my friend was able to easily identify the poor workmanship on the seam and articulate what needed to be fixed to Roya. She got the seam looking better, but the dress never fit as perfectly to my body as it did before I took it to Roya.
I wish I had gone elsewhere. Nice lady, but when you’re wedding planning, the last thing you want is added unnecessary stress and a lack of professionalism. Especially when the stress costs you $ 500. :(

I am THE most picky person and will only accept perfection and i have FINALLY found the person who satisfies all these requirements. Roya is an INCREDIBLE seamstress, with hands of GOLD! Not only has she done my alterations, but she has made me umpteen outfits, from everyday dresses to evening dresses. She has even taken the time to accompany me to fabric stores to help me choose fabrics. She is accommodating, patient and ALWAYS strives to satisfy me in every way, even willing to do a «one day emergency» alteration if necessary.
Her work is without fault and i have recommended her to all my friends, who have also, without exception, have been completely happy with their experience.

honestly, this was the absolute WORST experience. she ruined one of my dresses, did NOT do what I asked and wasted so much of my time. I went to see Roya based on positive Unilocal reviews, and noticed her shop was right down the street from where I live. It was a Saturday, and I had to sit for about 25 minutes while she finished with another customer (and it was HOT.)
i had two dresses that needed work. one was a never-​worn nicole miller that was too big (I’d been waiting for the right occasion, and I had a wedding I wanted to wear it to). the second dress was gold, from nordstrom, and highly discounted due to some loose beads. I asked for a very specific solution to fix the beads — I wanted them a certain way. It was also large, so I asked for it to be taken in.
When she saw the second dress, Roya looked at me and said, you like this dress? The material… it just… it looks very cheap. (Tell that to Shelli Segal.) But I do for you, she says. (Gee. Thanks.) The Nicole Miller dress, though, was «worth the money,» she said. Beautiful.
She said she’d need a week, and then started talking to another customer. I waited and waited for her to stop talking (I’d been there over an hour at this point) — when she FINALLY gave me my ticket. She was going to charge me $ 75 for the work done on the Nicole Miller dress… which seemed rather high. So, I asked if she could please just take in the dress, and not shorten it. So the cost went down. But, she still said she needed a week.
That next Saturday, I had a migraine headache the size of Texas and couldn’t move, and did not get to pick up my dress. I was leaving town soon for the wedding, so I had to take off work just to pick up the dress during the week, because I do NOT work close to home. I set the parking meter for about 30 minutes, thinking that would surely be enough time.
When I walked in, she remembered me (awww) and went to get the dresses. First she showed me the second dress.
When I saw the beads, though, it was COMPLETELY different than what I’d asked for. When I explained, she said, «Oh, honey, no. This look better.» (Regardless Roya — it’s not what I paid you to do.)
She was so condescending. Then, it got REALLY bad. I almost cried. I was so excited to try on the Nicole Miller — you have no idea. I’d been waiting literally years to wear this dress! I put it on… and it. looked. HORRIBLE. The area underneath both arms completely bunches up. It looks so awful. When I pointed it out to Roya, she said, «Oh no honey, that’s…the dress, it’s made that way. You just not pay attention before.» I said, um, you’re telling me Nicole Miller made her dress designed to bunch like this? (It’s a flowy dress, not the amazingly super-​fitted kind.) And she says, «Yes, it’s the dress. The dress is a baaaaasic cut. That is why. You really just not pay attention before but I fix it.» I’ve had the dress for OVER TWO YEARS, tried it on at least two dozen times, I PAID attention.
She said she’d try to fix it, when could I pick it up? I explained there was no way to pick it up another time, I was leaving town. So she took it back, and I put 30 more minutes in the parking meter. I tried it on again and it still looked pretty awful. I was SO SAD. But I had to get to work.
So I handed Roya my credit card. She swiped it like 30 times, but her phone kept saying «connection error.» She says, do you have another way to pay? I’m like, NO. She then says wait, the card went through! But it was declined. A customer waiting said, oh just call your Credit Card company, it happens to me all the time. (Thanks, but I’d already used my card that morning. Also, it has NEVER been declined). I finally gave in and called. The credit card company was like, um, no, no record of that charge, no record of any decline. So I tell her again that it’s her internet. She gets out her iPad. The charge still doesn’t work (duh). She asks me to write down my credit card information and leave it with her. Um, WTF!!! How unprofessional is that!!! I’ve NEVER heard of such a thing. I do not just write down my credit card information and leave it, especially with someone who lost my trust. By this point, I’d had to go BACK out to the meter and pay even more for parking.
I finally found a check, and left it with her. (It wound up being a huge issue with the minimum balance on that account but I won’t get into it…)…
Later, I tried on the dresses for a friend. When I put on the gold dress with the beads, there were still 3 pins stuck in it!!! and two of them stabbed me. Really bad. Pretty sure she didn’t take it in AT ALL, even though I paid for it. It’s still huge.
In case you’re still reading this, I was not able to wear EITHER dress to the wedding, and had to wear an old one. And I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to wear the beautiful one, it’s ruined. :(
Do not go here. Save your money and your time and your clothes :(

Roya is the best! I am so grateful that my friend referred me to her. She truly understands clothing. She does all of my alterations. She replicated a dress that I loved, but it was showing its age. She designs & makes her own line as well. I cannot say enough good things about Roya. She’s a gem. It’s so nice to find someone who really knows & cares about their craft.

Highly recommend! Roya does such an incredible job and very quickly! She is the sweetest woman, and at very reasonable prices, I’ll never need another tailor.

Roya was absolutely amazing. I needed an unflattering bridesmaid dress altered that came in late in under a week. As soon as I put it on she knew exactly what to do to give me back my curves and highlight my figure. I went from hating the dress to loving it! And she got it done in just a couple days. In addition Roya is so sweet. I will happily be taking all my future alterations to her from now on and I would recommend her to anyone!

Roya is marvelous!!! I came with a photo to her shop and she designed my wedding dress — gorgeous! She was on time with everything, had great ideas and advises, did a fair price calculation and stayed to the estimate! I was so happy with my dress and with the whole procedure. She is such a warm, nice and great woman with tons of good taste!!!

Roya and her associate Gwen share a passion for making women look great in their clothes. These two talented women have many decades of experience designing and altering garments. They helped me tailor a special occasion dress, and it was clear that they understand what needs to be done to achieve a great fit, and to make me look good and feel great in my outfit. They spent as much time as I needed to get it right, and were only happy when I was happy. Great people, great value. What more can you ask for?

Roya played an important role in making my wedding day so special! She made an exquisite bolero jacket out of lace and took the time to make sure that my wedding dress fit perfectly. Finding someone with the skills to work with lace is not easy. After taking back the delicate fabric from an incompetent shop elsewhere, we found Roya on Angie’s List.
We were thrilled with Roya from start to finish. She and Gwen were so warm, welcoming and caring. When we saw their attention to detail and concern that the finished product be as perfect as possible, we entrusted them with the wedding dress for the fitting also (rather than return to the shop where we had purchased the dress). It was such a pleasant experience – they were patient and took the time to listen to my concerns. They worked hard, going through multiple fittings with me to make sure the dress looked perfect.

Roya’s work is awesome an flawless! My maxi dress needed to be shortened in a very short time and I am super picky when it comes to alteration and dresses. Roya managed to alter my dress in no time for a very reasonable price. I was very happy with her work, because it was perfect and every time I go to her, I don’t even try on my altered clothings and that’s how much I trust her work. I recommended her to all of my friends and family. She is very nice and warm hearted. Now I don’t go shopping as much, I just pick my fabric and design and she’ll make it happen.

Roya is wonderful and extremely talented! Roya makes our sales and photo samples and I’ve worked with her on a continual basis for the past 3 years. Her work is top notch! She has a huge amount of knowledge and expertise when it comes to garment construction, fashion, and fit. If that isn’t enough, she is one of the sweetest people I work with. Roya is as good as it gets!

Roya is the best. I brought in my expensive jean to get it original hem. I am very picky on my jeans and I don’t know why whenever I bring my jeans to be altered, most of the time the style or the length change in a way that I don’t like it. But this time everything was fabulous. She did a great job and the price was unbelievable. She charged me just 20 boxes for a brand name jean…
