Runnergy

I have a bone spur caused by tendonitis on my right foot and finding shoes that fit has become a nightmare. I’m not a runner (really, really not a runner) but these guys know their stuff and I was easily able to find shoes that fit.
This is now my go-​to store for shoes.

I love coming to Runnergy for all of my running gear. I only wear Vibram five fingers, and have several for various needs (running vs hiking vs casual). I am a vegan and was really happy when Runnergy staff went through various options with me to ensure I did not order shoes made from animals. I was also really happy when I came in to figure out hydration options for trail running. The person who helped me clearly was an experienced runner and gave me his review of each product, enabling me to make the right selection for my needs. The staff and owner are really friendly and remember me when I come in. I will say I generally need to special-​order the Vibrams I want, and it can take 1 – 2 weeks. Based on my conversations with Runnergy, it seems this is due to something on Vibram’s end, not Runnergy.

I’ve been fitted for shoes before but never like this! Jeff took the time to watch me run and asked me about my injuries before selecting several different shoes for me to try on. I walked out with a pair that I love as well as a metatarsal pad which felt life changing. I’ve always noticed a bit of pain under my toes but I just kind of dealt with it– I didn’t realize that I have a neuroma until Jeff told me and he showed me products to alleviate the pain. For under $ 10, this little cushion does more for me than anything that expensive custom insoles ever have.
I have everything that I need to run the LA Marathon this spring!

Another great experience at Runnergy. I was again assisted by Jeff — very friendly and knowledgeable. I really can’t say anything negative about this running spot.

After going to a competitor in the area and receiving bad customer service, I visited Runnergy for my plantar faciitis and was fitted with a great pair of shoes and my pain is much better! The guys definitely know their merchandise and how each shoe fits your foot! I will be back!

I’m used to getting my shoes from Footlocker or DSW. I’ve been trying to run for a couple of weeks now using the couch to 5k app, but have pretty severe plantar faciitis and my feet have been killing me. I stopped in here today fully expecting to pay through the nose for a pair of running shoes. Louie was so patient, and helpful. He asked lots of questions and then gave me several options. After about half an hour, I had a shoe that felt like magic on my feet. When he rang up my shoes, he gave me a discount because they were an older model… so cool!
Even with the discount, I expected to find them for significantly less when I got home. The first thing I did was look them up on Amazon. They were more expensive!!!
I will never buy another pair of athletic shoes anywhere else!

This place is PHENOMENAL when it comes to find the right shoe for your specific foot & gate. The thoroughly assess you & u can even bring in old shoes & they will look at them to see if u should or shouldn’t keep using them. Shoe NERDS is the new sexy!!!

Jeff really helped me to find the perfect show and fit. Was knowledgeable and tested me on the treadmill for best fit and I would go back there in a heart beat.

I have been getting running shoes at Runnergy for years. They are all experts, they can tell my needs just by seeing my feet move. But recently I thought I’d have a challenge for them: I wanted athletic shoes for just walking around dressed down.
Fredy Santizo took great care of me! He is one of those people that goes so far beyond knowledge and expertise… is he an orthopedist or something? For the first time in my life I now have a pair of «favorite shoes.» Thanks Fredy and Runnergy as always.

Returned a pair of running shoes that weren’t fitting well within the return policy date & they gave me a larger pair that fits perfectly. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly & professional. If you need any kind of work-​out shoe, this is the place to check out.

Louie was so helpful and knowledgable! He even suggested a pair of sneakers that were on sale for 40% off! Thanks to his help in choosing the appropriate sneaker for me, I’m no longer experiencing any pain or discomfort when I walk. I’ll certainly be returning when I need a new pair. The guy who fit me could not have been more polite and knowledgeable about shoes, running and health. The fitting was very helpful and I walked away with shoes that I’m really happy with, and they have community free runs and stuff there too — seemed like a very nice store and one that I’m happy to support.

I have been a customer here for several years and there was always something a little bit off to me. I tried to ignore it but today it just became too much to ignore. It had something to do with a feeling of disrespect by the owner. To his employees. To customers. I would overhear it when I was in there but since it never directly affected me, I tried to not focus on it. But I should have and today I couldn’t avoid it. UGH.
I went in to buy a new pair of running shoes 2 weeks ago. Since they didn’t have my size, they took a special order which they told me would take about 5 — 7 business days. I offered to pay but was told it wasn’t necessary since they carry these shoes. They took all of my information and promised to call. As 2 weeks had come and gone, I stopped in the store today to see what was going on. The short version of the story is that the owner deleted my order since his employee didn’t collect the $$ in advance and just never bothered to call me or take care of me. So while I patiently waited for my «special order,» nothing was happening. The employee spoke to the owner while I was there and rather than come talk to me, the owner ignored me and had his employee make excuses. It was the poorest example of customer service I have seen in a long time.
Jeff’s (owner) behavior was consistent with what I had noticed in the past. Uncaring, dismissive, not taking responsibility, and just plain not someone I would want to do business with nor support. It actually makes no business sense as this is not the most attractive, well-​stocked or best value athletic shoe store around. I should have followed my gut and shopped elsewhere when I first had «that feeling» but I wanted to support a local business. In this case, my mistake. Learn from my mistake and take your business where it and you will be appreciated. And that will not be at Runnergy.

The salesman was very nice and knowledgable. The store is nice and clean with plenty of parking in the back. Great selection of hard to find shoes. Other corporate shoe stores don’t provide the same level of service that these guys do.

I must say this place is awesome! The staff was great in making sure I had the right fit. As eager as I was to buy the shoe they told me to wait for 2 more sizes, and boy was it worth the wait. give these guys a try.

I needed to get mid-​distance track spikes for my son, and Sports Authority, Big Five, and Footlocker had none (SA didn’t even have any in his size on their website!). I was reluctant to go to a specialty store and pay what I thought would be a premium price for the shoes, but had no other choice. When I got there, they measured his feet (something no other store has offered to do in the past, even though I knew his size). The sales person then brought out three different pairs, in different styles. The marked prices were not cheap, but not exorbitant either. The sales person then offered to take 20% off the price on the pair we chose. In case they were marking up their prices in advance to offer a «discount», I looked it up online, and the original retail price is what they were actually charging on Amazon. altogether, A great experience, a great selection, and great price.

I was a Phiddipides customer for years, but they are no more and I live in Sherman Oaks, so Runnergy was my next place. I have always wanted to run, but I have always gotten very bad shin splints… so I have walked those Avon 60 milers and the Nike Marathon, but I want to run.
Well, the amazing people at Runnergy promised that they could help me with that. I bought shoes. They felt great… I started walking… so far so good. Went back for diff socks. Started fast walking/​with short stints of running 2 miles a day… only to get … shin splints again.
I went back to buy some sort of compression cuff for my shin pain and before they would let me do that… they had me explain the feel and placement of my shin pain and all that I had done to cure myself… and they figured out that I needed different shoes… and they did an exchange right then. what???
I didn’t expect that… I mean they are awesome. They watched me walk and run and put the camera on my feet in different shoes and I am beyond happy — I mean how else could I be. They said they would get me running with the right gear and they did it!

This is my first bad review and I never thought it would be about a place like this. I have another one coming but it’s about a gas station and the dickhead who runs it. Runnergy is a specialty store and I truly believe in it, but only in theory– cause it sure was not the practical choice for me. I see a lot of good reviews from the glance I gave it. This makes me feel even worse! Here’s my story:
My trainer at JRS Bootcamp and I run after class some nights. I’m new to running and it’s a complimentary extension of the program he offers. My shoes were about two years old and starting to split where my toes were, both sides. He suggested Runnergy or a store like it where they fit you, test you on a treadmill, etc. My trainer isn’t about hard selling any particular store but he did say this would be a more personalized experience in an area I am pretty much clueless in (he didn’t use the word «clueless») He was being a good trainer and encouraging me to get more into running. A guy from Runnergy appeared a few weeks later with a booth at the park, giving out free electrolite drink samples and coupons for shoes. I’m not that serendipitous but it seemed right. I knew Runnergy may not be the cheapest deal in town but after how beat up the last shoes were, I really wanted the closest thing to a custom fit i could get so I got about a hundred bucks together and stopped in one night. I was impressed with what I saw. The staff really seemed to be on top of things and the nice guy from the park sized me, we ran on the treadmill and took a couple of different shoes for a spin outside. It was about what felt right to me and he gave me some running tips, and introduced me to the owner of the store. They had a running group coming in and they invited me to join it which was cool since it was a lot of dudes. I left with my size 8.5 Mizunos and felt like the $ 105.00, with the «park discount» was money well spent. I loved my shoes and ran about five days, three miles or so, each week. Within about a month and half my trainer noticed they were splitting on the sides. I was surprised but not too freaked out. I assured my trainer that when I took the shoes back to Runnergy, they would give me free ones or at least a huge discount. My trainer looked at me funny, as he has seen even more BS than I have.
I went back into Runnergy in the daytime with my shoes. This was early November, about two months tops after my purchase. The day vibe was different than the busy running group night vibe and I felt like i was in another store. A salesperson helped me whose vibe fell between surly and neutral, but when he told me I had been incorrectly fitted, I appreciated his honesty. He measured me again and said I would need a nine in that shoe, which they were out of, but he had me try on a nine in another shoe and it felt good. I mean on my foot it felt good. As he showed me how my toes would pop out of the sides of a smaller size I felt a mistake had been made the first time around, but I held onto hope it could be set right. Since I had been incorrectly sized at a store that specializes in sizing people for running shoes I asked what discount I could get for a new pair of shoes or if I needed to pay at all. He went in the back to ask the owner who had just blown in looking kind of pissed off. As I wanted alone I felt like I was in a movie where you find out the hospital you’re in is lying to you, or like that part in Texas Chainsaw when she gets in the truck with the guy and he starts poking her with the broom. The words astonished and betrayed came to mind, and I am not just being a drama queen. I took pics of the shoes I had tried so I could buy them eksewhere as i felt a major screw over coming on and I was right. The nonplussed employee dude came out from the back and said that the owner would give me a 20% discount, not much more than I had gotten before. I told him that I had come to Runnergy to let the professionals handle it as I was new to running, and the only expensive sports shoes I had bought in my life had been hulked out within two months and I didn’t have the money to start over. He wrote his name on the 20% discount card and told me to come back when I could. He was chill, but not my advocate. I walked out and starting blowing up my trainer’s phone with texts about how Runnergy hadn’t come thru. He wasn’t surprised as they had messed up in the first place. He won’t be able to recommend them again and a store like this really depends on word of mouth. I wish I could have written a good review about how they took care of me, but they walked all over me with the wrong size shoes. I ended up going on Ebay and getting the size nine shoes I’d been fitted for that day, asshole style. I hope they up their game. This is no longer my problem.

This is a great store if you’re shopping for running shoes or walking shoes. The salesperson gave me undivided attention and found three shoes for me to try. I also had the opportunity to try them on pavement. They have parking in the rear via an alley way and they are right across the street from Ralph’s. I got great service and found the right shoes for my feet. I always enjoy supporting local businesses. It is my second time buying shoes from this establishment.
