The Guest House

I found Linda @ The Guest House by accident as I was driving and very close to my home I was waiting at a light and to my right was this adorable looking place called The Guest House. I’ve been looking for a new place (close to home) to get my hair colored/​cut, so I called and left a voicemail. Linda received it and called me back and we made an appointment. What I found with Linda is that I now connect with her directly and can make an appointment with her and on almost any day of the week. When we met, we got to talking and talking and talking and had so much in common and I had so much fun that I met a new friend. So much so that we’ve socialized outside of The Guest House. Now the all important part, my hair that first day and every time since has been beyond amazingggggggggggggggggg. The color could not be more perfect, as is the cut and then when I do have it blown out for those special events… it’s amazing ten times over. So now I’ve found a great person, great hair colorist/​cutter/​stylist and a great friend. I don’t doubt that anyone who meets Linda will have a very similar experience!

Marlene is excellent! She has a natural talent for cutting and styling hair and does it with just ease, quickness and is so sweet. She has been cutting my hair for about two years and will keep going only to her. She knows what I want and always impresses!

When I walk in, I’m home. The living room is warm and inviting, everyone is so friendly! Scott is terrific at what he does. My cut and color is always perfect, and I laugh through the visit. This is my happy place.

Had a great cut and color from Linda yesterday in their new digs. New location on Ventura Blvd. had plenty of parking. I like no drama salons and this is the place. Linda is a pro — she approaches the cut conservatively because she wants you to be happy with the final length. She really listens. Excellent color. All in under 90 minutes! I like spending my money with TALENTED and NICE people and I can not recommend her enough. She’s a Jersey girl who has transitioned to a Southern California girl — and she brings the best of both to her beauty game!

Scott is great at what he does! My color & highlights always looked very natural which is always what I asked for. And I was 100% satisfied with his cuts/​styles he did on me. Try him out :) you won’t be disappointed!

Love the new location! Amazing salon. I’ve been going there for years and love the people and the service. They have excellent taste and do great highlights for blondes.

I just had another great haircut by Scott. My boys go to Linda, they think she rocks. They are both worth every penny. Trust me, I pay for three boys who love getting their hair cut.

What a great place to get a haircut, have a salon day (if that’s your thing), or just hang out on the comfy couches and steal some coffee! This is Scott’s new place and it’s in a much better location on Ventura. Super nice salon. Really nice ergonomic hair washing chairs that recline. Who knew having someone wash your hair could get any better than it already was?! The best thing about this place, though? It’s not pretentious at all. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and it’s not stiff like some other places. Good times had by all.
Now for the cut: Scott does an amazing job. One of the best. We have the same hair, so I trust that man with my life. He knows what he’s doing, so I’m sure every stylist is on par with Scott.
So if you’re planning on making a whole life change or just in need of a trim, treat yourself and go to The Guest House.

I drive all the way from Palos Verdes to see Scott for my hair. He’s a total pro. He takes great care of my hair, he’s funny, and knows his stuff. I don’t want to go anywhere else, even if I have to drive an hour! Worth it!

I had to come here on very short notice after accidentally cutting my own hair. I looked like a school shooter and thought I was going to end up having to just shave it off, but this sweet woman named Linda was willing to take me in on very short notice and turned it into a great zero-​on-​the sides haircut. Definitely recommend!

Just finished getting my hair done with Linda and I couldn’t be happier. She was super sweet and you could just she loved her job. All of her colleagues were also super friendly and the vibe was peaceful (no cattiness here). I got the Keratin treatment done (she uses keratin complex) and it looks and feels amazing.
Tip-​they have parking! They share the lot with the liquor store just be sure to validate with them.

Linda did such a great job with my hair. She really listened and took her time to give me the best keratin treatment. She uses quality products and works quickly and professionally. She also gave me a trim and made my hair look more healthy without taking away from the length. She is so sweet and does great work! I’ll definitely come back to see her.

After paying abusively-​high prices for subpar service in Manhattan, I had grown to hate the hair maintenance experience. Enter Linda, my new go-​to gal for getting the perfect Blonde highlights and outstanding service. Her prices and cute space at The Guest House are unbeatable too!
On top of being professional, competent and efficient, Linda has flexible hours and can accommodate for the after work crowd. I admire the years of experience she has gained through owning a successful salon on the East Coast and her warmth is a welcoming trait that’s sometimes difficult to find in big cities.

I saw Linda for a keratin treatment and couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. Linda was a sweetheart and very easy to talk to. She worked quickly but was attentive and thorough. She also trimmed my tips to give my new, super straight hair even more of an impact. I will definitely be going back to see Linda again!

I went in to get subtle ombré. nothing crazy, just a little sun kissed dimension. Most stylists seem to have a hard time doing that with dark brown/​black hair. Linda hit the nail on the spot. I have had my hair done by several people before, and haven’t walked out as happy as I was with Linda. She really takes the time to listen to you and work with your hair color and face to make sure you walk out with something you wanted. highly recommended. love linda!

Linda is a miracle worker! She truly transformed my long, thick, frizzy mess into sleek, shiny and healthy. My unruly hair isn’t easy to tackle, but Linda was so patient and thorough — taking the time to make it perfect. It turns out she owned her own salon back east for many years before relocating, so I received owner level expertise for a rate I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford. Linda is my new secret hair weapon!

When it comes to hair, mine is the most impossible to work with!!! Literally I always warn hairstylists that its a jungle! Until I met Linda, she is a miracle worker!
The first time I met her was through Lifebooker for an Ombré. I haven’t colored my hair in years – Linda made my hair from boring black to a sun-​kiss look. Definitely a good change.
The second time I met Linda, was for a keratin treatment. My hair went from Jungle-​amazon-​women, to straight shiny sleek hit-​the-​city look. Drastic change! And this is coming from a naturally wavy/​curly thick dry hair type. I still can’t stop playing with my hair!
Each time, Linda would always suggest a trim… the worse 4-​letter word for me. TRIM…especially since my hair takes forever to grow. BUT, she helped me to overcome that fear since she doesn’t chop all your hair. All she does is trim out the damage, nothing more. And you’re hair still looks long, and very healthy.
Long story short, I finally found someone who can work with my difficult hair. Linda is amazing! Highly recommend her!

I just saw Linda for a Keratin treatment. I hadn’t had one done in a while and my hair wasn’t in the best shape. Linda did an amazing job and explained everything as she did it. It is definitely one of the best keratin treatments I’ve had, which says a lot, as I have had many. She is incredibly nice and welcoming and made me feel really comfortable. I would definitely go back to see her for a cut or color.

I just moved back to the Sherman Oaks area, and I’d been with the same stylist for some 5 years. SO is a bit more expensive than Long Beach was, so I was worried about trying someone new.
That said, Linda was a wonderful stylist and a joy to chat with. She’s new to the area, fresh from her previous salon on the NJ shore. I lived in NJ for a bit, so it was nice to chat with someone from the east coast.
I get a fairly short, tapered cut, into a medium length top. Tapering with scissors isn’t something someone without skill can do without leaving lines or irregularities. My mother is a hairstylist and told me once that you can always tell the best stylists by their ‘men’s cut’. Linda did an awesome job, and I’m very happy with the cut! I’m looking forward to returning in a few weeks for the regular touch up.
I’d definitely suggest the shop too. It’s warm, inviting, and the owner routed my answering machine message asking for an appointment within a day to the stylist to check back on with me.

So, I LOVE this place, and like all girls, I’m VERY picky as to who does my hair!
It’s like a little house inside! The interior is very warm and inviting, and Scott (the owner) and my hairstylist is the best! He knows his stuff from color, to cuts to extensions! I totally trust him, and whenever I leave him, I I always get a ton of compliments on my hair. I’m a dark brunette, and I had to bleach my hair for a role. He took extra good care of my hair so it wasn’t like straw when the whole thing was over.
If you’re looking for friendly staff, and a cute place to go that’s not too busy, this is definitely your salon!
