Up In Smoke Hookah Lounge

They’re CLOSED! Just came today to smoke my favorite mint but they’re closed! I wonder what happened?! A little upset that they’re closed been going here for almost 10 years!

i think that this place was pretty nice. it was kind of lowkey which i really liked and the customer service was really great. They always came by and refilled our tea with hot water and always checked up on our coals constantly. 5 star for great service and great atmosphere. Definitely going back :)

Don’t go whatever you do! The service sucks it takes them forever to bring anything out. Everyone here is weird and they all know each other. Never going here again! Go to the Gate in Encino, if your looking for a good middle eastern food.

The service sucked!!! 1 waitress to serve 30 tables… She brings the water after I had to tell her twice then she only brings one glass even though there were 4 of us… She brings the hookah but brings the cole 15 min later… And even took her forever to bring the check… Up in smoke sucks!!!

This place SUCKS! First off it’s always rather empty and now I know why… one waitress, barely 10 people (half of them work there) and the service still bombed!!! It took TWENTY minutes to get us water! (Which we asked for 3 times) and then she brings out one glass of water… with 4 of us sitting at the table. and then she brings out hookah… with no charcoal. another 15 minutes for the charcoal… then we didn’t see her after that till we needed the check. not one time was the hookah charcoal replaced. would NOT recommend this place especially when you’re on Ventura blvd and hookah lounges are a dime a dozen. I suggest driving another 5 minutes and going somewhere better
SIDE NOTE: this is just my pet peeve, but I found about 7 typos on the menu! I mean seriously?! How do you manage to spell dessert, white, Armenian, and like 5 other words wrong on a laminated menu?!

Just moved into the area and I’m a pretty avid hookah smoker. My new apartment doesn’t allow smoking of any sorts at the complex so I decided to check out any local hookah spots.
As I was walking around Ventura I noticed this hookah spot. It looked pretty decent inside with a pretty big lounge area with a ton of hookahs displayed at each table. I took a look at the menu and decided to comeback the next day to check it out.
The following day I came back. There was a handful of people I’m the patio area smoking. One of those people was either an employee or the owner. He sat me down and the waitress handed me the menu. I ordered the passion fruit tobacco with a lemonade. The hookah was setup very quickly with the tobacco. The lemonade I received was definitely a powdered lemonade they had bought at the store. It had a very powdered taste to it.
My hookah never really got a good cloud of smoke. The coals they were looked like coco naras or something do that sort. After 45 minutes she finally moved my coals but moved them in the same place. I still never got a big cloud of smoke and I was very disappointed. I know for a fact that I could’ve moved the coals myself to a different position on the bowl and gotten better clouds. They never gave me tongs so I was stuck with what I had.
The waitress was very nice and checked on me every so often but she was more helpful to the owners and their family members than to me. After an hour or so I decided to give the nachos a try. I’m pretty sure there was no effort at all put into these nachos. The chips were very stale and the nacho cheese was warm at best. I could’ve gotten better nachos at the 7 – 11 down the street than the ones made here. Plus I could’ve gotten chili and other condiments with my nachos for cheaper.
After a very disappointing meal, I decided I had enough and paid the bill and left. I wasn’t to thrilled on the 15% gratuity added to the bill, but I still left a tip worthy enough for the waitress’ service.
I probably won’t return here ever, the service was okay but the food and hookah were pretty bad. I don’t really recommend coming here, but check it out for yourself.

This place has a very fun loving ambience with a great service. If you live in valley and you don’t wanna drive far to have a fun night I recommend you to go to up in smoke:) great selection of Hookahs

Best service ever. If ur looking for a chill place to spend time this is the place. They have different types of hookahs and food is great too.

i honestly should not even be placing one star on this place. whatever you do, dont park in the front!!! (read on and you will find out why). apparently that’s not allowed at this place. i have noticed a lot of people complaining about service and that all starts from management.
i was sitting with my wife and i was approached by a pocahontas look-​a-​like manager. she «kindly» asked if i can move my car to the back parking lot. i said why and she said that the owner likes to park in the front. i said i’m not leaving my table with my wife here to move my car for your owner who happens to drive a rolls royce which customers like myself happened to help pay for. so after getting very upset and pissed off with her i demanded the check (even though i should haven’t paid). she later said she will take care of it i said i dont need you to take care of my check after being disrespectful in front of my wife asking me to move my car. before leaving i told her now your owner can park in my spot and i wont even come back here if they paid me to and i will make sure nobody comes here afterwards.

Probably the last visit to this hooka lounge. I dont like it when management starts getting greedy. Apparently, as explained by their waitress last night, the 15% automatic service charge is for the restaurant and you are expected to leave gratuity/​tip in Addition. i really don’t know what they are thinking. So you have to pay 30+% Tip?
Last visit to this establishment. Management needs to re-​evaluate their decision before they lose more of their clients.

Ah, Up In Smoke, good memories and good times. This review goes a bit further than my other ones due to the history I have with this place.
On Friday and Saturday nights, there are live belly dancing shows at 10PM — 1030PM and again at 12:00AM — 12:30AM.
–WHAT SHOULD I ORDER–
1) If you come here for food, get the Chicken Kabob, as you will have plenty to eat with this entrée.
2) If you are not a chicken person, grab the Luleh Kabob, as this will also fill you up pretty good.
3) Last, but not least, try the Sossi Sandwich as this is definitely a gem. It has hot dogs and pickles with ketchup and fries.
As for hookah, you can definitely try their mixes as I have tried most of them, but personally, my favorite has always been Nerfitini and Gardens of Babylon.
–HOW IS THE SERVICE–
Overall, the service is par. The venue is small enough so employees can tend to your needs. Charcoal comes around often enough.
–WHAT IS THE PRICE–
Depending on what you get there, expect each person to pay about 15 $ –25 $.
Source: Not only was I a customer for the longest time here, but I also worked for the family. The family is always there supporting each other and when I say its a family, it doesn’t stop there. If you go enough, you’ll meet their friends and they in turn are also like family.

First off let me say I do not visit hookah lounges often, but I do know what to expect when I go
I understand most places charge a 15% service charger and I am ok with this
I understand most places require a one drink minimum this I am ok with, but their minimum is 10.00 per person and there menu is pretty steep it was 6.75 for a mango smoothie. This I am not ok with
We were seated right away towards the back by the bar, in about 5 minutes we had a waiter come by (1 of 2 working) and take our order so far the service was good we ordered 3 red bulls and 1 mango smoothie. The red bull came in 10 minutes and I figured he was still making mine, we order hookah that came fairly quick the flavor was actually pretty good but the service once again on the hookah was extremely lacking our coal was only ashed along with the bowl, this led to a very harsh smoke most of the time, the entertainment was pretty good and we were there for about a hour and a half and 10 minutes before we leave I got my smoothie, luckily the waiter realized how long it took and didn’t charge me

Chill place! Never too many people there but that is its charm in my opinion. The workers are nice, they have TVs they show basketball games which is super interactive. They serve Armenian coffee! #CoffeeAdictsUnite
One time I was there with my cousin and the waiter was so sweet he recommended some desserts, I told him I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. He made small conversation and left. Moments later I see he brings me a chocolate soufflé and insisted I try it, on him .how could I resist that –_​– soooooo I may be a bit biased lol

Awesome find with great family style service and good hookah!
Nice place to come during the week to puff on some hookah and enjoy some good food. There is no line to get in like VIbe down the street. There may not be any alcohol like some other hookah places serve, however the service and food more than make up for it. If you really want a drink there is always El Torrito across the street just make sure to come by after for some great hookah and ambiance. They are open late so their is no excuse for not giving them a try.
The wait staff is good, but so are the managers. Very few places these days that you can go visit and if the staff gets busy the managers jump in to assure that you are being tended to. (Nancy you are so accomodating and so sweet!) Chef makes mouth watering Kabob’s make sure to give it a try :)

Mediocre hookah and price is high service is super slow for getting charcoal or refills and they dnt leave u a tong so u can move the coals ur self
Pros: its a nice and chill place with good music playing and the outside is noce in summer time servers are friendly and food is decent, tea is good though

This is a important review for all the hookah places and lounges in the La County Area. If you want to know the rules for A. Customer Service B. Customer Service. C. Customer Service. Than Up In Smoke Hookah sets the bar for literally everything when it comes to that.
Myself and some friends have been on a hookah binge lately, usually we just chill on Sunday’s you know to lay back, relax, talk about work life, women, sports, and etc… We have gone to a bunch of different hookah joints and really have had lack luster responses to pretty much all of the places we have been. The main thing that all of them have in common. Terrible customer service. It’s a joke really, you get better service at the DMV than some of these places.
When we walked into Up in smoke, we were immediately greeted by the owner (i am assuming) and you know he was nice and etc. We were then sat down and our waitress was very nice and very good in recommending hookah and etc… We ordered some crazy combo and it was really good.
This review is not about the décor, place, parking or etc.
This is about the amazing customer service I have ever got in my life. The waitress was very nice and friendly and would always refill my tea when I never really asked for it and etc. The owner was so down to earth and chill it was tight.
To all the hookah places. LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO @ You. You just got dumped on by Up in smoke.

Average hookah… A good selection of flavors, but getting a refill or new coals is always a hassle when I come here.
Average food, I once got a wrap that came along with salad and fries everything was so greasy… Since when did wraps become greasy? I did enjoy the tea and Persian Ice Cream.
The décor is nice and I enjoyed the music that they played.

Meeting before hookah lounge-​BORING
Finishing the meeting at the hookah lounge-​EXCELLENT!
The conference room was a bit stuffy so we decided to move the meeting here and finish up over a hookah and something to eat. Ordered the kabob wrap which came with a truckload of fries. At first I thought it would be loaded with grease and messy but it was actually quite nicely put together. Love the fact that they are very creative and don’t have the regular stuff on the menu cause that gets old after a while. Can’t say enough about the sausage sandwich but you can read about that in the other reviews!
