If u want baby size portions for an expensive price then go here, the service is horrible, we went last night and had to ask two different people for a high chair… PATHETIC. And the old lady in red is a horrible hostess, now if you are going to be a part of ixtapa in Newberg you guys really need to get it together there too. We were horrible disappointed to be honest

I have been there twice in the past 10 days, once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the food and service have been quite good. I was seriously surprised as I hadn’t been there for over a year and a half because of poor service and so-so quality food. Maybe I’ll be able to up my review to 4 stars some time soon!

This place is really good! I’m from Southern California so I’ve had my fair share of Mexican food and this place is quite good. I’ve been here about 10 – 12 times over the past year and have always been satisfied. The food is consistently good, and the service is fast and friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

Summary: I didn’t hate it. Lunch prices are actually quite good — $ 5.50 for Chile relleno, rice beans and of course — chips and salsa. It was edible. Not fantastic, but passable in my book. My lunch was petite, however, my dining partner’s was BIG(veggie burrito). She thought it odd that there were mushrooms and celery in it, but didn’t hate it either. Guacamole(3.50 I think) was recently made but size wise it was an individual portion. It was empty(late lunch time) and our server was nice and attentive. Interior is huge and rather Mexican American dated — booths and booths as far as the eye could see. My friend lives in Sherwood and hadn’t tried the place out so it was a nice cheap way to see if it was worthy of another visit. Hmmm? I guess it might be if my budget were limited and I didn’t have high expectations AND I couldn’t leave Sherwood. Beans were meh(sorta under seasoned to me), rice was okay but could’ve used some bits of something in it for color and texture. The relleno was small, pepper was canned(I’m almost positive) but, again, edible. If this were in Tigard, I would pass, but in Sherwood, choices are limited, so there’s that. I bet a good Margarita would’ve made it go down better. But isn’t that true of most food?

I’m seriously not sure how this place stays open. In the five years we have lived here, we’ve been 3 times. Each time more disappointing than the last. Won’t go there again. Our friend ordered queso and got a runny liquid that was an odd color. She tried it, but wouldn’t eat it after two bites.

Manzanillo is not the best in Sherwood. I have had several to go orders from this place and with great thought I have decided its just not worth it any more. The real tragedy comes from the fact Mexican food is just not that difficult to make and if you do it poorly it really shows. Last experience included a side of tacos that couldn’t make the 2.5 min ride home with out completely disintegrating. if I wanted a mushy taco salad I would’ve ordered one. In addition to the above, the food was quite bland, and seemingly made without much thought to presentation. The last thing that concerned me was that no more than 30 seconds after placing my order, I wandered back to the kitchen area to be sure that the correct choice of beans would be in included my order. This is when I witnessed the hostess/waitress bagging part of my order…(was this already made?). Normally this would not concern me, unless, I had to wait an additional 15 minutes until my order came out, which I did. It was late on a Sunday night and there was no one else in the restaurant… hmmnn.

There is a reason why it is never busy. The food is not horrible it is just not good enough to want to pay anything for it.

This is my favorite local Mexican restaurant. They seem to be consistently a notch above the rest. They serve nice big shrimp and their sauces are a bit more complex than average.

The food was bland and overpriced, but the service was good. I really don’t understand how they can charge so much for food that is flavorless and appears to be of low to mediocre quality. Not that I expect top quality ingredients at Mexican restaurants, but I do expect the prices to be commensurate with the quality, presentation and flavor. The flavored margaritas don’t contain real fruit except for the strawberry one, which was tasty but was clearly made from the same sweetened strawberry purée that chain restaurants put in their strawberry lemonade. The chips were okay. The salsa was runny but had a good flavor and more heat than expected. The fajitas were very disappointing; I’ve had much better at Mazatlan, which(incredibly) has a lower Unilocal rating. The corn tortillas were mass produced. The rice and beans were bland and I honestly just gave up at that point without trying the guacamole. I went in hopes of finding another decent Mexican restaurant nearby and was enticed by the fairly good Unilocal rating. However, that rating seems wildly inconsistent with my own experience, which is why I feel compelled to write this review.

I came here recently for a friend’s birthday party. There was a large group of us and there was not a lot of room for us to sit comfortably. The food was just okay. I thought that it would be much better. The service was also just okay. I got my order taken right away and others had to wait at least 20 to 30 minutes to get their orders in. If it was my choice, I would not return to this restaurant again unless there was an event such as a birthday party.

Terrible. Crappy service, overpriced food, tasteless cooking. Will not go back and I am puzzled how this place is still in business.

I stop in here on occasion for a beer and tacos. It’s not bad, the service is super friendly and not pushy. I’ve only say in the cantina and usually around happy hour time 3 – 6. The chips and salsa are delicious and the beer is of course always cold. I’ve only ever ordered the chicken tacos. The chicken is undrained so you can’t eat the hard shell without a fork and knife. But I don’t mind it. It’s still good.

–Food was good. –Chips were OK.(They’re obviously store bought, not as good as Juanita’s from Albertson’s IMHO) –Salsa was good, and we were served both mild and hot. –Atmosphere was OK. The restaurant is clean and classy, and looks obviously built to be a big sit-down Mexican place, but somehow it felt oddly empty, too. Like it needed a bit more paintings on the walls, plants, small lights, and some things to warm it up a bit.(Was there any music playing?) –Service seemed a bit under-staffed and slow for a Saturday dinner. I’d eat there again.

I love Mexican food and come here regularly. The good is good and fairly authentic. The quantities and prices are good. They even have Negro Modelo on tap. Service can be a little slow, and I don’t like their Sopapillas much.

Very good food and service. They are very consistent each time that we visit and the food and drinks are great. We had a late lunch /early dinner birthday for my husband today and they were very accommodating for our group of 12, letting us bring cake in and providing us with the forgotten matches for the candles. Love this place!

First heard about this place from some Sherwoodians who were talking together about how this place always looked closed. Talking with my Nephew we decided to meet up there and give’em a try. REGARDLESS of the negative« Unilocals»… So I get there a little ahead of him and sure enough, not ONE car in the lot. Walk in the front door and I thought crickets were gunna start chirping, I was the ONLY person there. Two Ladies spied me and nodded that they were open. Nice, expensively appointed interior, so’s I sits my butt down and they bring me chips and salsa. OK, these pass my muster and I gobble a good portion and the Neph shows up with his son, wondering himself if the place is open til he’s guided to me. He was there when the place was discussed, and remarked at how empty place was. We ordered up some Guac and Margatooters and perused the menu. Pretty extensive. I was thinking of my usual«Benchmark» order of Arroz con Pollo(that I compare ALL Mexican Restaurants too) but something gave me the hunch for«Chili Verde» explaining to the waitress it HAS to be LEAN pork or I will send it back. She said it is LEAN! OK, gimmie it! Neph orders the Albondigas(Meatball Stew) that the Family gets as their Benchmark Test. His Lad got Shrimp. All came in BIG platters and bowls and we dug in… All I can say is that the Chili Verde was as good as any I’ve had! The Neph’s Albondigas was full of meatballs and extremely good, the Minnie-Me Neph played and goofed while he was eating and did the meal justice. Got to see other Diners’ plates that were very ample and looked quite good(INCLUDING the alluring Arroz con Pollo!!). This place is a pretty good secret and was filling up as we left. ~ NOW, on to the«KICKER!!!» ~ We were too full for any desert, and the Neph was taking home Shrimp and Albondigas leftovers(«I» had INHALED my whole meal!), so we then became focused on the pile of «Zamboni Snow» across the field behind the Sherwood Ice Rink. Our family is NEVER able to pass on a good snowball fight, ESPECIALLY on a 90 some odd degree day in July. So there we were, THREE ~Kids~ smacking one another with snowballs and eventually building a snowman to boot. «BOOF! You Brat! Smack! Butthead!!! SPLAT… Not down the PANTS!!! ARRGGHhhhh!!!» We coulda been in a snopark on Mnt. Hood surrounded by Noble Firs instead of the Arbor Vitaes of Sherwood for all the fun we were having. A special little moment to round out a special night. I suggest a July snowball fight to any of you who are so inclined… EVERYONE needs to let out that little kid locked inside most of us y’know? And this is JUST the place to DOIT!

This was the first time I had come here. I drive by all the time and it never moved me as a place I wanted to try since there was never many cars in the parking lot. I was pretty wrong. The place is very clean. The food was good. The chips and salsa were fresh. I came during the Sherwood Cash Mob so service was good. I will definitely come back and try it again.

Okay — I admit it – we’re picky Mexican food eaters. We’ve dined many times in numerous towns in Mexico, and we’ve had great home-cooked Mexican food here in Oregon. We had high hopes for this place as it was being built, with its festive and colorful building, which seemed to take forever to open. But after three visits(wanting to give it a second chance a few times), I’d have to say this is the worst Mexican restaurant within five miles of Sherwood, at least considering the ones we’ve tried. If you want something better on the west side, go to Peppers in Hillsboro or Sanchez Taqueria in Tigard. We drive by Manzanillo a lot, and it looks like a ghost town most of the time. Even during dinner hour there are only a few cars. Sorry, but this place is not worth even one try. There are too many other good choices, and thanks to the feedback you can find on Unilocal, you can easily find them.

One star because the building is new(clean) the food is blan and greasy. Seriously very little flavor. My fajitas were so greasy I put a napkin on them to soak up the orange goo(grease). I don’t know how this place is still open???

Service and atmosphere, great. Price, acceptable. Food… shoulda guessed by the utterly empty parking lot this was not the place to stop. Being from out of town, we thought such a nicely designed place would be putting in the same effort for their food. Bland. I think I have had more flavor in frozen dinners from the grocery store. Will check with locals for the rest of trip to see where to grub. This place ain’t it.
