I recently took my sewing machine in for repairs and maintenance. My machine now works just like new. Everything was done quickly so I could back to my projects in no time. But the best review I can give is that the customer service was outstanding. I was treated in a very professional, friendly manner, like I had been a customer for years. For regular maintenance on my sewing machine, or if my vacuum needs attention, I will definitely go back to City Vacuum and Sewing Center; however, I will go to their soon new location across the street in the Costco/​Home Depot shopping complex.

Like everyone else who rates this business five stars, City Vacuum has to be the best or surely among the best places to do business with n the area. The prices are reasonable — if the job can’t be done within a certain price range, there is no cost for the estimate. If the vacuum cleaner can be fixed or serviced, it will be done well. In my own case, George went far beyond what was expected and did complete makeovers of an ailing vintage Kirby and a much used Bissel. I am so pleased to have re-​visited City Vacuum after so many years away, finding the same exemplary service and low cost I remembered. I hope they have a successful move to bigger quarters across the street.

As the owner of a local house cleaning company, we needed someone we could trust for the purchase of our vacuums, the repair of them, and someone who could answer our cleaners’ questions about problems that pop up while they’re on the job. George is nothing less than a miracle! A third generation vacuum and sewing shop owner and repair man, George is genius, super friendly, HONEST, and just plain nice. The girls love him, the company loves him, and we can’t say nice enough things about him and his wonderful shop. We wouldn’t mind paying more for a small shop and local business owner, too, but guess what? We don’t have to! He has great, super fair and honest prices. You would be lucky to have him as your vacuum/​sewing guy! We’re grateful we found him.

These guys are awesome. I brought a vacuum in for repair and they diagnosed that the motor was burnt out and repair would be much more than a new one thus saving me money. They even disposed of my old vacuum for no charge. I will definitely return and recommend them to my friends. Nice to see small businesses like this around.

Friendly & knowledgeable people. They were able to help me find the replacement part I needed for my vacuum even though I showed up 2 hours after they closed while they were having the floors retiled.

George was amazing. I came in to see what he had in the ways of a used vacuum cleaner for my cleaning business and he set me up with a new industrial handheld vacuum that is similar motor to an oreck (my favorite). It was missing an attachment I wanted, and so he threw that in and some bags as a bundle, and on top of that package, he gave me a small business discount. I spent what I expected to for a used one, and now I have a warranty as well! I was in and out within about twenty minutes, and he was right, the house I cleaned today went really well. And my vacuum now fits in my cart, one less thing to haul around :) I’ll be back to tuneup my oreck and singer soon.

I really want to like this shop because I have an assortment of machines of various vintages, but the work they did on the Bernina was not helpful. Went in needing thread removed from handwheel. Came home still needing this removed (only sounded even worse). Got it repaired at Quality Sewing. Newer machine issue? I hope so (would like to get work done somewhere that wasn’t trying to sell me something) and will return with one of my older models. Hope to update with more stars.

Took my sewing machine into this shop because it was just down the road from my house, having never looked at the reviews. I was so impressed with the experience I decided to give them a five star review right away. Only to find out that everyone else has beaten me to it. This place is everything everyone says it is. They are kind, courteous and knowledgable and the prices are fantastic. I will never go anywhere else!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this family-​run business. They have been repairing and maintaining our vacuum cleaners and sewing machines for years. They do wonderful work, provide accurate estimates and repair times, and know their machines.

Took our vacuum in for what we suspected was just replacement of filters and a good cleaning. Sure enough, as George estimated, it would only cost $ 45. Got it back by the end of the week and it is as good as new. Great service! I know who I’d go to for repair again!

This is possibly the best repair experience of my life. I brought in my Viking 6460, which had decided that straight stitch was the One True Road. I was not hopeful because the Internets were less than sanguine about the repair possibilities for a machine that’s older than me. There were ominous rumblings of tales of broken camstacks and stripped gears.
Three days later, I picked up a spanking-​clean Viking that now can do ALL THE THINGS. Total with tax: $ 104.
Go here. For serious.

Small, local, PERFECT! I bought a Miele several years ago and it recently began under-​performing. I was a bit distraught because I’d read so many good reviews about them. I found City Vacuum & Sewing, read the reviews here on Unilocal,and took my vacuum there for repairs. It works wonderfully now, and the lovely man who was working installed a hepa filter in addition to repairs. He even escorted me to my car to help me put my vacuum in the trunk. Thank you! I am now a loyal customer.

After upgrading to a super plush new carpet, imagine our disappointment when we discovered our Dyson vacuum was incompatible. The new carpet was too thick and the Dyson would not budge. Not one inch. This is a first world problem at its finest.
After tons of research, I now know more about vacuums than I ever cared to. The consensus is: if Dyson is the Mercedes of vacuums, then Miele is the equivalent of a Ferrari (ignoring the fact that it is German-​made).
City Vacuum & Sewing Center was one of the few places that carried multiple models of the Miele line so I stopped by to check them out. It is a family-​run shop of modest size with superb customer service. They helped me select the perfect vacuum for my needs with no sales pressure whatsoever. They even offered to let me take the floor model home to test it out so I wouldn’t have to deal with repackaging a new box if it didn’t work out. I purchased the vacuum then and there with the confidence that if anything was to my dissatisfaction, they would make it right. With the purchase of my vacuum, I received a complimentary package of bags and a 7 year warranty directly with City Vacuum, meaning no annoying customer service phone calls or dealing with the manufacturer. I can just take it to them and they will complete any necessary repairs. Such a great bonus to be able to have this local service available!
The Miele is wonderful and though I don’t expect to have any issues with it, I’m so glad that if I do, it’ll be in good hands!

I’ve used City Vacuum and Sewing for Sewing … My machine broke down and I needed it fixed!
The owner’s are friendly and fair. They didn’t try and sell me a cleaning /​maintance contract like Quality Sewing and Vacuum has done many times in the past. So if don’t want the upsale and pressure of buying something you don’t need — go to City Vacuum & Sewing.
The price difference was amazing as well. Quality Sewing and Vacuum quoted a service price of $ 169.00 to fix my machine with at least a week out. City Vacuum quoted $ 59.00 … with a 3 day turn around. Can’t beat that. I’ll continue using City Vacuum and Sewing.

I have regrettably forgotten to give proper dues to this quaint shop in Shoreline.
Nearly six years ago, I dropped a chunk of my paycheck on a glossy Dyson vacuum. And like the British man says on their commercials, «tha furst vacuum that nevah looses suction.» I keep the vacuum, well-​maintained, rinse the filter as directed and regular upkeep.
Smash cut to five months ago when my reliable Dyson would make a vROOM sound when turned on and then immediately go cold. I attempted to take it to Central Vacuum on the hill, but was politely turned away that they did not service Dyson’s.
Good thing I found City Vacuum & Sewing via Unilocal.The owner’s son is quite the expert in repairing Dysons and their mechanical quirks that happen eventually from use overtime. It got repaired in three days with a part, and I paid just under $ 50! Great family owned shop, with real expertise, and friendly service. They offer a 90 day repair warranty, which came and went and my Dyson is «sucking strong» as usual.

This is a no-​frills, get-​it-​done, family-​owned business that deserves to be supported by you and me. I brought our dead Hoover upright in (was just 4 years old) and they called the next day to let me know the engine was dead and that it would cost $ 110 to fix. Well, you can buy a new vacuum for that price, and not only did they agree it was not worth fixing, they didn’t charge me anything for the time they took to diagnose it.
Right after that our business vacuum started making funny noises – it does hardcore duty vacuuming our training facility. It was a no-​brainer that I’d bring it in to City Vacuum. This happens to be an ancient Eureka upright, which they agreed was a good vacuum and would last a long time more with good care. They recommended a Miele vacuum as a replacement for the business whenever I was ready to switch out the Eureka, but it was not a pushy sell by any means, more like an educational session on the pros and cons of the different brands and bagless vs. bagged. They fixed up our Eureka, added a new belt and vacuum bag, and I picked it up just a few days later for the bargain price of $ 38.50. Works beautifully.

I love, love this place! The owner is amazing — a very sweet, funny guy who really enjoys what he does as well as his customers and takes great pride in his business. I just took my old Tri-​Star vacuum there for service and they were quick, inexpensive and even called me before doing anything just to make sure they knew exactly what I wanted done. I love that!
I’ve taken sewing machine there in the past for service and gotten the same kind of excellent service. You really can’t go wrong here.
