*It’s good to support a local shop, you just will not get this level of know how and service and some big box store so visit them and thank me later

Brian and the team at Seattle Ski and Snowboard have taken great care of our family. A small shop with personalized attention. High quality season rental gear for my kids (just get there early — Oct), and then team always recognizes us, and are great with our kids. The owner, Brian, even offered to meet and ski with us in Whistler last year so he could gauge my husbands ski level and suggest the best ski for him (and he loves his skis and boots with custom footbeds). Rosie helped me pick out new snow pants and offered to tailor the liners with extra fabric so they could fit over the battery packs I use for my heated insoles (fortunately I figured out how to make them work). Highly recommend!

I have no idea why some people have less than perfect experience. I am beginner skier and just returned my first rental package. From the minute I walked in, I am being served with respect and the service I got was excellent. It is a busy place but the rental equipments are much better than the one you will get from the resort. It took a bit of time because I am new to them but should be much quicker next time as they have my measurements in their file. I will definitely recommend that place to any of my friend.

Do yourself a favor and make a visit to Seattle Ski & Snowboard! Seattle Ski is a GREAT place to rent skis and to buy new gear regardless of your skill level or experience with winter sports. I’ve received EXCELLENT service from this store, and I am sure you will also. here is a few comments from my recent experience:
We recently moved to Edmonds, WA and I did not yet own my own skis so needed to find a place to rent. Several of our friends here referred us to Seattle Ski, and I’m really glad I decided to walk into their store! All of the staff at Seattle Ski have been very helpful with every visit in answering questions and getting rental skis for me. I have rented skis here multiple times this season, and have been more than pleased each time with the quality of service and gear!
The thing I love most about this store, and I cannot stress this enough, is the employees are really awesome. The guys and girls at this store LOVE skiing/​snowboarding/​winter sports, and they work really hard to answer your questions and to make sure you have fun out on the slopes! These are awesome people at this store! Hard to find a good store like this these days.
I’m starting to invest in owning my own gear, and I recently purchased a pair of ski boots here. I am SO happy with my boots! They fit perfectly! I wish I remember the name of the tech who spent the most amount of time helping me through the process, he deserves a lot of credit! Overall the entire team of employees at Seattle Ski did an AWESOME job fitting me for boots. Their fitting process was really precise and comfortable. I highly recommend coming to Seattle Ski to buy your own boots and gear once you’re ready!
Again, I highly recommend visiting this store for your ski/​snowboard/​winter sports needs!
Also, do NOT listen to the negative reviews that you might read here on Unilocal about this store. a couple of those reviews are just ludicrous. The employees at this store are NOT rude, they are NOT trying to rip you off, and they really do an EXCELLENT job and are passionate about serving customers! Several of my friends shop at this store, and we all have the same opinion. Yes, the store can get busy at peak times (that’s a sign of a good business, by the way!) so if you are showing up last minute for rentals, a little patience will help. Wait your turn, and you’ll get excellent service. Trust me you’ll be glad you came into the store :) It’s clear that the store gets busy at peak times because everyone loves and appreciates their products and services.

Great place. Guys are super helpful and helped me with exactly what I needed. Defiantly my go to shop for my board.

This place was a zoo when we went in to rent snowshoes that I had «reserved» under my name the day before. As it turned out, after waiting an hour plus in a claustrophobic small and very crowded space, my «reservation» turned out not to exist! Apologies aside, the idea that I had made a reservation only to find out the snowshoes had been sold out after waiting so long is ludicrous. It ruined the weekend plans to boot. Thanks Seattle Ski & Snowboard – we’ll never use your services again. Get some better business sense and train your employees correctly.

Went to get snowboard boots and board, boots for me and a board for my boyfriend. They wouldn’t give us the price for boots and board together… ridiculous. I needed a women’s 8 and they gave me a men’s 9, doesn’t make sense at all. Asked for an 8 again and the guy came back with a 9.5 men’s. He said it is the same… not at all! People working here are not friendly and its was $ 60 total. Will never come back and rent here again, they rip you off and are not knowledgeable at all. Go elsewhere!!!

Have had consistently outstanding service here at this family-​owned shop. While it can get crowded, Brian, Rosie and crew take the time to make sure that you are set up correctly. I swear that Brian must have tried every boot in the shop for my hard to fit daughter. The result is a pair of boots that she loves, rekindling her love for skiing. I am sitting here after hours having my own boots adjusted based on thoughtful assessment of my needs. We buy all of our ski equipment here, would not consider going anyplace else.

I thought this place was great, spent thousands of dollars here, unfortunately I will never go back.
Awful customer service, Brian the guy who «helped» me was not only disrespectful, but also raised his voice at me. I would go as far to say that he is an @$$.
I visited in November 15 hoping to fix a minor fit problem in the toe of my ski boots, they «resized» me and said my current boots were too large. I then was coerced into purchasing a smaller boot at a discounted rate, with the promise it would completely eliminate the problem.
Fast forward to the end of November and I go skiing for the first time of the season. both of my big toenails turned purple and black, hurt like hell, and have now fallen off. This is 10x worse than any problem I had with my old boots.
Went in a week later to return, after one use, less than a month after purchase, with the receipt, and they refused to refund me. Seeing as that I’ve spent thousands here, A small $ 280 refund you think would be a no brainer, especially since they «sized» me and persuaded me to buy new boots when that wasn’t even my plan.
I have now gone back to my old boots because they work much better and actually fit.
I will NEVER go back to Seattle Ski.

absolutely incredible service! I went in to get used skis to start teaching my son to ski. the advice I got during the whole shopping experience was invaluable. the owner explained everything along the way so now I have a great gear, but I also understand why I got the specific items — and all of that for a great price. his son polished and buffed the skis for me and adjusted the bindings while explaining what he was doing as well. on top of all that I got great tips on teaching my son skiing! they’re amazing, we’ll be going back for sure!!!

Seriously, I always have the best experience with this team! Whether it is a cheap rental or a big dollar purchase they always make sure I have hear that fits and works well! If you have an opportunity to go see this team, do it! You day will be brightened and you can rest assured that you got a good deal and great recommendations. I won’t go anywhere else!

Stopped in this shack today to see if they had a boot oven or hot air machine to do a toe cap remold on my right foot of my snowboard boot,
I walked in and it seems decent, I asked about this service and was informed it was 15 dollars to do it.
I was a tad surprised and mentioned that it seemed a bit expensive just for hot air. Then who I assume was the manager /​renter of this property, and was informed how he complains to his landlord that his rent is 7000.00 — month and that 14 bucks an hour was too much to pay his employee???
I was dumbfounded at his ignorance and rudeness to my remark. I can see now why this fool doesn’t own the building he operates out of because he overcharges for simple services that should be a gratuity for their customers. It’s not like I was asking for a free tune for my board. Which I also asked how much and edge and wax was and the employee says it depends on if you want base work done???
I told him, did I ask for how much base welds are? NO I asked how much an edge and wax is… And he continues to not answer a simple question trying to up sell me into a pro tune. Just a suggestion, maybe LISTEN to your potential, customers and answer their inquires instead of being greedy and act like a scum bag used car sales man!
Needless to say I walked out and will never return!
What a joke!

This modest little place is, by far, the best ski shop I’ve ever patronized. The moment I dragged my rambunctious 4– and 5-​year-​olds into the store, the staff immediately recognized that I was in dire need of help. They swarmed to our aid, and were very sweet in setting up season-​long rentals for the kids; they know which kinds of gloves stay on little hands and are very patient in choosing the right color helmet for little heads. When it came time for me to buy boots, Brian and Kevin both got very involved, molding the inner liner to my foot, and eventually widening the outer shell to accommodate my strange little feet. These are people who love skiing, but also take service very seriously, for folks new to the sport and aficionados as well. On top of all that, the prices are excellent, and they don’t sell you things you don’t need. This is a much, much better experience than buying gear at a larger retailer or online. I couldn’t recommend it more highly; it is worth the drive from Seattle. Be sure to bring your skis in for a tune-​up or waxing.

I bought a brand new setup from these guys when I moved out from the east coast four seasons ago. Obviously the conditions here are completely different than what I was used to, and although I had demoed a few pairs at local hills, I hadn’t found anything I liked. They set me up with some great gear and have great service. I busted a buckle on my boot and they only charged me for the part and fixed it for free while they were tuning my skis.

Hey… They talked me into renting a pair of skis for my kid for a bunch more money than I wanted to pay… However, they also were the only people I have dealt with that talks to my kid like he is a human being and was able to get him excited about the ski season. I can’t even do that. So, that’s what I call good service.

Long story short.
I put a long bolt into a short hole and broke it off in my snowboard.
Brought my snowboard in thinking the worst. Nathan got it out with no delamination. Then they replaced my binding disks that were worn for the same reason and gave it a pro-​tune. The wax job was par with other shops in the area, but the edging was perfect. It is a lot of work to get the kind of edges I have on my board.

This place is my go to place for all things snowboard and ski. The crew at Seattle Ski and Snowboard have earned it — they put us on skis and boards that fit our skill levels and styles. Seattle Ski and Snowboard knows how to LISTEN to YOU. How important is this? I ask you — how else do you get the right gear?
Example #1 — When I tell them «I want to shred the mountain, carve the heck out of that steep slope regardless of ice or powder, and I want to be able to hop like a bunny over those moguls and then go fast enough to catch up to my skier husband.» The crew gave me a sweet new light yet stable board that I could pop, carve and charge on.
Example #2 — Years ago we checked out 5 different stores in Seattle for new skis. After starting at Seattle Ski, we kept looking cause my husband wasn’t sure. But after speaking to all the other stores in Seattle we realized that the only sales people actually basing their recommendations off of what my husband wanted to do, his skill, his experience, were at Seattle Ski and Snowboard. We went back, and they gave us a great deal.
Example #3 — We’ve been going back there for years — as our skills have evolved these guys keep setting us up with gear that fits our new styles. From beginner boarder and intermediate skier– all the way to advanced shredders of the mountain, these guys have kept us moving on sweet gear that fits and responds to our every desire.
I still shop around to see if I can find something new, but each time I go back to this shop because they listen, they live and breath the mountain, they love it and they want to ensure we love the time we have doing it. I just love these guys.
BTW — I hate going into a store and having some lame sales person pretend to listen to me, then push some brand and style at me that has nothing to do with my style. This happens ALL the time. But never at this shop. Serious. These guys are awesome.

It’s a shame because I really want to like this shop. I grew up in the ski industry and worked at various ski shops through college, and I would love to bring my business to these guys as they are my local shop.
I first tried them out with a couple of ski tunes a while back. When I dropped them off I was very clear about explaining that I wanted a pro-​tune, generally meaning full base repair, stone grind, and hand filed edges. I asked if they have a stone grinder and was told that they have two of them. The 2^nd pair of skis were my girlfriends and I just wanted a basic tune with base repair, clean up the edges, and still a stone grind, as she had been complaining of her skis being slow, and there was no texture on her bases at all. OK, so two tune ups, stone grind on both… When I picked them up the base work was decent, the edges decent, but clearly neither pair of skis had been stone ground. I pointed it out right away and asked why they had not been stone ground, and said that I was told they have two stone grinding machines. The guy helping me had the shop manager come out who told me that they used a rough belt and that a rough belt tune was the same thing. I was stunned. Then they proceeded to still charge me $ 75 for the «Pro» tune, and $ 49 for the regular tune «with stone grind» mind you. I left pissed, shocked, and extremely disappointed. Disappointed because the only reason I was really bringing these skis into this shop was for the stone grind, but also now I know that my local shop is a sham.
For those who do not know, a stone grind puts a slight texture on the base of your ski. This helps the base absorb wax, but mainly the texture breaks up suction which would otherwise slow you down. A good stone grind makes a huge difference in how well your skis glide. The stone grinders are expensive machines and they are made for a reason. If you could get the same results from a belt then stone grinders wouldn’t exist. From the size of their shop, my suspicion is that they don’t actually have a stone grinder, but tell people they do. If they actually had one I have no idea why they would not use it and try to pass off crappy belt tunes as a stone grind. There’s a huge difference, even for a beginner or intermediate skier.
They may offer good deals. They do seem to have a decent selection of skis, and seem friendly enough. But do not rely on this shop for any technical work. Pro-​Ski Service, and Evo will do great work in North Seattle. On the East Side, Sturdevants and World Cup Skier Service both have fully automated tuning machines that will leave a factory like diamond cut edge, and stone grind for $ 35. Charging people $ 49 and $ 75 for tunes without stone grinds though is highway robbery.

After receiving truly customer service at EVO — I decided to give Seattle Ski & Snowboard a try.
What a great decision! I’ve been in the market for new Ski boots and a great guy named Kevin helped me. He was incredibly knowledgable and obviously very experienced. He knows his products and the sport very very well. He helped me every step of the way and I walked out of the store with super comfortable ski boots — that EVO couldn’t get me hooked with in my prior 3 visits.
Seattle Ski & Snowboard has definitely won my business.

Some good local yocals
A local ski/​snowboard shop up north in a discrete looking house. I’ve passed by here many times and decided to venture in. The staff were really nice and helpful. They gave me a discount on some of the winter gear I got since it was May and the season is done. They definitely know their gear.
One drawback was some of the sunglasses I bought I brought them back the next day b/​c they gave me a bad headache when I wore them home. He inspected them for a good 5 minutes for scratches and I told him and showed him I bought them the day before and only wore them home. He kept me waiting until he could stare at them for a while. Not impressed.
So if you’re buying something service is great but when you are returning something brace yourself. I’m hoping the rest of my returns in the future aren’t as disrespectful as that time b/​c I’d really like to continue supporting them.
