History

Established in 2014.

My grandmother was a bookkeeper for 35 years, and my mom was a bookkeeper for 20 years until she lost her sight. I remember being a kid in middle school and my mom would pay me to put checks in numerical order for her clients. She had a giant green general ledger where the income and expenses were neatly written down. This was in the 80’s, before computers were popular.

After 10 years, I finally left the mortgage business in search of a business where I could control every aspect of my service and guarantee the outcome. Being able to produce predictable results every time is paramount to my happiness as a business owner. I started Sound Bookkeepers because this is an area of business where my philosophy, integrity, and skills are desperately needed. It’s also easily tackled, clients are grateful for a job well done; it’s 100% predictable, and produces immediate results for my clients. My initial consultation is free and I have excellent references from community leaders.

People often ask me what I don’t do, because I pretty much do everything. I have worked construction, sales, mortgages, taxes, software, IT, networking, painting, woodwork, consulting, and believe it or not, Acupuncture.

Taking on this role is a perfect fit for me because I am so committed to the financial health of businesses that I often see things the owners never would have seen. My system building approach is a welcome addition for my clients as I design the standard operating procedures for all the bookkeeping tasks and provide them in both written and digital format for anyone else who might need them in the future.

This also helps the owner (s) to better define exactly what their role is in the business as I always have to ask what role they want to have in the finances of their company.
