History

Established in 1995.

Formed in Shreveport Louisiana, Silver Platter Events Catering offers a wide array of flavors for the discerning palate. Owner and chef Kim Law Grefe, while growing up, had dreams of one day owning her own successful small business. In the fall of 1995, that dream came to fruition in the form of Silver Platter Catering. «As with a lot of fledgling caterers I started out with friends and family and a love of entertaining’, states Law Grefe, «I have always loved the sense of well being I get from seeing others happy, laughing and well fed.» Kim brings to the table a combined 30 years experience in not only the food service and catering industry, but also, that of accounting, sales management, advertising and film production.

Meet the Business Owner

Kim G.

Business Owner

In 1996, after graduating from a small culinary arts program, Kim set her sights west and to the golden hills of Northern California and the foggy banks of San Francisco in particular. While there she was lead chef for a successful corporate catering company then moved to Santa Rosa, California where she worked for a popular wine country restaurant. While in California she met several independent film makers and Silver Platter Events Catering provided catering and craft service for the burgeoning Bay Area film industry. Never losing touch with her southern roots Kim relocated back to Louisiana in 2007. To not only follow the emerging film community in and around Shreveport, but to also offer the bounty of her culinary flair and experience to not only film makers but also fellow Shreveporters alike in the celebrations of their lives, says Law Grefe, ‘it’s been one heck of a ride and the best is yet to come!’
