Dean’s Natural Food Market

Deans offers healthy options, organic options, and alternative foods for vegan and vegetarians. They have smoothies and premade food to go. There is a seating area if you want to eat there. Good selection of food from coconut ice cream to pizza to tofu.
Expect to pay more but you are getting different types of food then you would at your local store.

Whenever I come back to NJ, (which is quite often), I always come to Dean’s. Will usually go to the gym with my mom and brother, and stop here on the way to refuel. My absolute favorite part of the store is the Juice Bar. Unless you’ve been to Dean’s you wouldn’t even know it was there. It’s so good, that half the time, I go to Dean’s and only get a smoothie or a juice.
They have a wide variety of juices, smoothies, and other interesting combinations. I’ve tried several varieties, but my brother’s and my favorite is the Mango Bliss. It has coconut water, apple juice, spinach, and mango. It comes out in a beautiful green color that not everyone will find appealing. But it is delicious. My mom always orders a Glorious Greens. Not exactly sure what’s in it, but it tastes lemon-​y and is more of a juice. If you’re getting a juice, ask for it on ice. The ice really makes a big difference.
Beyond the juice bar, the prepared foods sections is great as well. Dean’s makes a great lentil loaf wrap. Filling, healthy and delicious. Going to Dean’s is always a treat

I was very pleased at their selection as well as their knowledgeable staff. I had questions on vitamins and probiotics which they were able to answer and point me in the right direction. While I was there I decided to have a juice. The attendant was able to answer my questions about antioxidants and I was so happy to find out that everything was organic!

I love the store and I love Dean! I have been shopping here for years, but a year ago I went to a GMO talk which featured Dean. Shortly after he declared that he was going to take the GMO products out of his store and he did!
What I love about the store even though it’s more expensive than whole foods and Trader Joe’s, is that I know I’m getting good, Quality food… I can’t make a wrong choice there. I love their prepared food, their guacamole is to die for, and they have a nice selection of produce (all organic). I feel very safe shopping here and I feel like Dean is a really cool guy with a great mission.
Another awesome thing is that they do a rewards program. You get a «Deans card» and use it every time you shop. Eventually you get money back and they match that amount and give back to the community. I spend so much money at whole foods and they never give anything back to me or anyone else!
So I try to Shop here as frequently as possible and I feel pretty good when I do!

I love this place. They have done special orders for me. Great customer service and variety of products. Better than Whole Foods IMO

This place makes excellent smoothies and the staff is very friendly. Great vegan and vegetarian options.

The produce section is nice-​sized, and all organic. I love all the dairy and egg options, as well as the smoothie bar in back, but it can take a bit of a wait to get your smoothie. Dean’s offers a serve-​yourself salad and soup bar, and a good bit of prepared and made-​to-​order sandwich and salad options, neither of which I’ve tried yet. Lots of vitamins and supplements here — they make up maybe 25% of the store. There’s also a fair amount of frozen food, which I don’t buy, but may be good for healthier options for little kids. For tomatoes, I wish they offered Pomi or other vacuum-​packaged, not just canned and jarred.

Smoothie was good. However, «it will be ready in a few minutes» turned into 30 minutes.

I like the clean, organized displays, and selection, but find some of the pricing a bit high. It’s hit or miss what day the produce is fresh.

One of my hobbies is finding good vegan eats along the Garden State Parkway corridor so that I can eat during summer excursions to the shore. Dean’s is just a few minutes from the Parkway and offered my boyfriend and I a smoothie fix on a lazy Sunday morning drive to Manasquan.
I was really impressed with the cleanliness, organization, and size of Dean’s Natural Food Market. Everything is sparkling and spotless, and the shelves are so beautifully organized. I was happy to see all my favorite health food brands, including some unique items I’ve never seen before. They even carry my dog’s favorite brand of natural/​vegetarian canned dog food, which I’ve only seen at a handful of other stores!
At the back of the store is a smoothie/​juice bar. The blends for the smoothies are very unique, and the young man working behind the counter helped my boyfriend and I choose smoothies we would enjoy. He even promised to make us new smoothies if we didn’t enjoy them. I like the fact that the smoothies come in a variety of sizes and also recyclable cups.
I decided on a mango, coconut water, spinach, banana, and apple juice smoothie, while my boyfriend got a cacao, banana, lucuma, maca, and almond milk smoothie. I really liked the flavor of mine — it wasn’t too sweet, and the fruit masked the flavor of the spinach. So refreshing!
If you’re in the neighborhood, I definitely suggest you stop by for a snack or even lunch! They have a lot of prepared foods like sandwiches and salads, and you can even make your own salad at the salad bar.

Dean’s is a great little market that caters to the health-​conscious. I love their salad bar and made to order sandwich menu (favorite is turkey with cranberry apple relish :). Their bulk containers offer a nice selection of grains, as well as healthier sweet treats (coconut rolled dates, chocolate pistachio energy chunks, etc). They can be pricey but also run specials from time to time. Check out Dean’s!
