Luke is awesome! He did an amazing job refinishing and staining our hardwood floors and the pricing was fair. They paid attention to the little details and our floor looks better than new.

We had Luke Hiller back to replace all of the rest of the floors in our 1942 home just before Christmas (2013).
Our 20’x30’ den had 1985 reddish brown short pile carpet that was in amazingly good condition for its age — it was really OLD! Luke asked if we wanted the den to match the original floor in the rest of the house. I said YES! So he ordered part red oak, part yellow oak and part #1, which contains pieces with knots and dark streaks.
The job took several days due to the demolition of the old carpet and repairs to the squeaky sub-​floor and, of course the installation, sanding, filling, leveling and multiple coats of finish of the new wood. I was good and didn’t peek beyond the plastic sheeting that was used to protect the rest of the home from the dust. I waited to look until the first coat of finish went down. I was thinking «I wonder how I am going to ‘feel’ about this new floor.» Wood, for me, is a very evocative substance — I just love wood. When I looked it didn’t feel like a «new» floor. It had the same look and feel of the old 1942 floor. Luke’s installer did a marvelous job of mixing and integrating the 3 types of oak together to make a floor that looks like it was installed at the same time as the rest of the floors.
We also had the kitchen and bath floors replaced with a vinyl that looks exactly like stone. Everyone that walks on it and thinks it’s stone, but it’s a very high end vinyl. A good friend has this floor in her home in Virginia. She took a picture of the box for me. Luke worked very hard to find the product because the manufacturer and the license for this product had been sold twice since my friend purchased it! The installation of the kitchen floor matched perfectly with the old floor and the new floor. It is perfectly flat with no transitions between the rooms required!
We had a couple of little missteps in the job (like any construction project) but Luke showed up personally and surveyed the problems and had his crew, or he, himself fixed it on the spot. Luke even crawled under the house to run my surround sound cabling and pushed it up into the boxes his installers had sunk into the floor.
I couldn’t be happier with Luke Hiller and highly recommend him for your next floor refinishing, replacement or new construction project.

Review way over due (maybe not) but Luke did my floors a year ago and did an awesome job. Floors still going strong and looking great.

Are you kidding me? Luke missed our first scheduled appointment and then called at 7 am the next day to apologize saying he would do anything to make it up. I told him it as fine and rescheduled. And again, he’s a no show. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Terrible, horrible business practice and to think he was referred to me by another company. I won’t be using either one.

I am a cabinet contractor and I used this company to repair and refinish my existing bamboo floors.
Our old floor was very yellow looking so they gave the wood a beautiful caramelized Tone.
Four top coats later gave it a really great luster.
It’s completely changed the look of our house.

Luke did a major flooring repair and refinishing on our home with 106 year old floors. He was very professional and easy to talk to, understood our concerns. His crews were very efficient and did a good job. Floors look nice!
My only knock would be a missed meeting and normally I would downgrade him for that, but after the job was over and Luke was paid he had to come back for a considerable repair that was not his fault. He did it without complaint and did a great job with a really tricky floor. That bumped it back up!

I finally was able to make an appointment with Luke Hiller. His receptionist Shrae is HORRIBLE and unprofessional. I made an appointment with Luke last week, he never showed up. I wonder if Shrae gave him the messge after asking her to call me by Mrs. … instead of my first name, which she butchered so badly. She acted like she didn’t want to be bother. It’s not a difficult name. Well, I called again this morning to make an appointment because of Luke’s reviews, hopefully he will show. Her attitude hasn’t changed, very negative, not wanting to be bothered.
Luke, being in the professional world for over 20 years a receptionist like Shrae will put you under. It’s not the first or second time dealing with her. Let see what happens when you come out or if you got the messge. I truly hope I have caught Shrae on the only bad days she’s had.

I called a few places that had favorable remarks on Unilocal and got the minimum three quotes. Luke came out for the initial quote and to go over my needs.
When I was ready to go ahead, coordinating with the office manager, Shrae, was very easy and she was always available via phone to answer the myriad of little questions I forgot to ask on my previous call.
The guys who came out to do the actual labor were always on time and were able to produce a color of stain that worked perfectly in our traditional home. The 1940’s hardwood floors (that have been covered for years) are now a glowing dark amber and my new home has been transformed.
Luke came back to follow up and inspect the work the next day and we were able to discuss the curing process over and regular maintenance needed. I highly recommend Luke Hiller to anyone who needs their floors restored.

Luke came out and quickly identifed the brand of wood floor and said he could try to find a match. He did and his crew came out and replaced the damaged portions of our floor and finished it very nicely. The guys were polite and efficient, the floor looks terrific, they charged the quoted price, and they cleaned up. I’m happy.

Luke responded to my call in a timely fashion. His workers were able to replace the termite damaged plank in my 1950s Long Beach home. The price was fair as they replaced only what was necessary. I will be calling Luke when it is time for any other repairs. Also, I have allergies and am very sensitive to dust; not a problem with luke’s crew. Well done.

Jonathan from Luke Hiller just left my house 10 minutes ago and I couldn’t wait to jump on Unilocal and write this review.
We have a 1940’s house with original oak hardwood floors that needed patching from where we removed the old floor furnace. I decided to call Luke Hiller based on another Unilocal review I saw here that had the same situation.
The color match is perfect and Jonathan and his crew cleaned up everything beautifully. It is flawless and you would never know the area had just been spot patched.

I have worked with Luke on two separate occasions. Once on a job at a house I look after and once in my own house. The house I look after is a HUGE place on the beach in Long Beach. MY house is a small, older place in Lakewood. The two houses could not be more different. Yet, Luke and his crew treated the job at my house with just as much care and attention to detail as the job at the beach house. I was impressed not only by the quality of the work, but also by Luke’s dedication to my overall satisfaction. I would whole-​heartedly recommend Luke to ANYONE!

Downgraded from 5 to 4, after found a huge pile of sawdust on the lawn where I guess they were changing belts or something. Floors still look great, just a pain in the butt to get these guys to clean up after themselves. I would still use them again, but make sure I work from home and check after all they do.
