History

Established in 2010.

Plenty of Bikes started as a home-​based business selling cycling parts online and vintage road bikes in 2010. In 2011, Plenty of Bikes was still home-​based, but was also operating out of several storage units and garages. Now in 2012, we have opened a new shop in the beautiful city of Signal Hill!

Hi, I’m Jon! I started Plenty of Bikes after being reintroduced into cycling in 2010. Like many other people, I used to ride bikes when I was younger, using it for both commuting to school and leisure, but lost the interest for over 10 years, and just recently picked it up again several years ago! Started working on road bikes and realized I loved it, so starting working on my very first vintage bike on my living room floor on two broken-​down cardboard boxes. From there, met people in the industry, and decided to establish Plenty of Bikes!

This is my favorite bike store in all of Orange County. Plenty of Bikes is reasonably priced, offers great service, and offers a good selection of low to mid end bikes, which stores like Performance Bike fail to offer.
What sets Plenty of Bikes apart is the outstanding customer service. When I first called Jon, the owner, I inundated him with a ton of novice questions, and he was patient and understanding in answering all my questions. When I showed up to his store, he spent a good amount of time showing me all of his bikes that fit my budget, and treated me with the same amount of respect that a customer with a much bigger budget would earn. Jon also never upsells, which is something I really appreciate especially when I’m shopping at a smaller store. Even though I was interested in items like clip-​in pedals, Jon advised me that it wasn’t necessary unless I was going to be a hard core biker. I truly appreciated his honesty and his advice, and for that I will never hesitate to go back to his store if I ever need anything.
Independently owned bike stores are becoming rarer in this day and age, but Jon’s store provides a brilliant example of why we should shop at places like this: they care about their customers, offer great prices, and treat a customer who buys a $ 400 bike the same as someone who buys a $ 3,000 bike.

Owner is knowledgable, prices are good (cheaper than anyone really in LB, unless you’re trying to get used parts) and never seemed annoyed at my seemingly basic questions. I’ll come here whenever I need stuff done to my bike.

I’ve had trouble finding a bike for the past year, most shops I would go to are very pushy, aren’t informative and only want to make a sale. I found Plenty of Bikes off of Unilocal and decided to make the hour drive to check it out.
The owner of the shops greeted me, and was extremely nice. I told him my budget and that I haven’t rode a bike since I was in middle school! I needed to find a bike to ride to work in Hollywood. Jon took into consideration EVERYTHING I explained to him and educated me along the way. I didn’t feel pushed in a specific direction and felt like a valued customer.
He let my test out a few different bikes and took the time to adjust the bikes so that they would actually fit me! I know it sounds silly but out of the 7 shops I’ve visited around LA not one managed to do this for me. I ended up purchasing an amazing bike that originally was not in my budget but I didn’t mind because of the service I had and I felt like I understood what I was actually paying for.
I highly recommend any newbies like myself to make the drive out to see Jon, he’s really amazing and genuinely cares about his customers it was totally worth the drive.
I will be sending all of my friends and clients here!

Bought a bike from here used. Turned out to be too small for me. Tried to return it, but this guy didn’t want to take it back. Basically told me I was screwed. If I could go back in time I would definitely avoid this place.

!!!WOW, AMAZING, SPECTACULAR!!! The best place around to get a awesome bike for a great price. Jon was the best at helping me and my wife get exactly what we needed. Not only was he very knowledgeable about our needs but very patient at explaining and listening to exactly what we both needed. He helped us pick out a few bikes to test ride and let us get a good feel for the bikes. He was honest about the options and gave us good choices for our price range. We had been at other local big name bike places but you can’t beat Jon’s selection and his price points, not to mention his one on one customer service. Don’t waste time looking around for a deal just visit his place and tell him your needs. Thanks again Jon for everything!

I don’t ride much but I do like to take it our for a spin once in a while. I brought it to Jon and he gave me an honest assessment of my bike’s condition. He explained everything before doing anything. I really appreciated that. I will definitely take my bike back for future maintenance.

Went here last weekend to get a bike for my husband and help my cousin pick something out for herself.
Prices are fair, and Jon is very helpful.
My cousin spent $ 631 on a bike lock and a new Fuji road bike. After her transaction, she realized that she needed an adapter to pump air into her tires. The adapter piece was $ 1.00 ($ 1.09 with tax) and she didn’t have any cash. Jon didn’t want her to use her card for such a small amount. It was irritating that Jon couldn’t just give her the piece for free. Between the two of us we spent $ 1200, you’d think he could afford to throw in a $ 1 part. Annoying.
Would I come back? Maybe. Prices are fair and the owner knows exactly what he has in stock. The fact that he was so stingy really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just got my bike from here. Jon is really helpful and not only got me the bike I wanted but helped me order parts as well. He ordered the bike for me on Tuesday and he fully assembled it by Thursday. The best thing is the service. Jon doesn’t try to upsell you and tries to get what you need and he keeps you in the loop on your orders. I checked out a lot of other shops and this is the one I chose because of the service.
FYI, the shop is in an industrial park and isn’t glaringly obvious so if it is your first time keep your eyes out.

I was pulling my hair out looking to find handlebars for my vintage Bianchi and came across a link for this shop on Ebay. Being a local I hopped in my car and drove over to Signal Hill. Jon was very helpful and checked all of his resources to find me some bars. He finally found some used ones right in his shop. The extra bonus was that he had the handlebar tape to match the Bianchi Celeste color. In chatting with Jon we determined that my son had actually purchased this bike from him years ago when he was at his former location. It was hard to walk out of there without buying another bike but my bike stable is full. Thanks Jon for getting me back on the trail

So, I’m a total novice when it comes to road bikes. I have to say, it’s a bit intimidating… it’s like shopping for cars except I know a lot about cars.
So I visited Plenty of Bikes because they were highly recommended by a friend who purchased his bike there. The first interaction that I had with Jon was totally awesome! You can tell he’s very passionate and knowledgeable with bikes. I’ve been to other stores since Long Beach pretty much has one on every block and most of these places have tried to convince me to buy something that’s totally expensive… just like going to a car dealership (and I hate it!). But Jon is totally different.
First thing he asked was the purpose of my visit. I’m sure he can tell I was a newbie but he didn’t make me feel very stupid. I told him that I don’t know much about biking at all but I do want something that can go a certain distance other than just cruising around town. So he showed me different options from a FIXED GEAR, to multi-​speed, to the top of the line which he told me that I shouldn’t buy not unless I plan doing the Tour De France. He also offered to sell me a used bike that he has that would be a good option for someone who’s new to riding.
I tested the middle option which was very reasonably priced (well, I don’t know if it is but I trust the guy). Rode it around the parking lot and fell in love with it. My partner and I enjoyed his service and passion so much that we also dropped of my partner’s bike (he’s more experienced than I am) and get it serviced there too!
Overall, my experience with Plenty of Bikes is totally 5 Star and I will definitely send my peeps to Jon’s shop!

Firstly, it’s not often you find a Unilocal listing with a solid 5 stars rating, and for good reason!
I got stuck in traffic prior to closing time of 6pm yesterday and called Jon to see when the shop closed as I rushed over and he was so generous enough to stay open upwards of 30 minutes in order to accommodate my small window of time. I found that to be extremely good customer service because he certainly has no obligation to do that.
I was in the market for a good entry-​level road bike to get me back into the hobby, which is very hard to come by since cycling is such a performance-​based sport, bikes are usually a hefty price. I wanted one within my budget for casual riding and he was so knowledgeable and helpful providing a couple options but I didn’t feel like I was being up-​sold or that he was aggressive or impatient in any way because of my untimely visit. I left the shop excited with a beautiful blue unbranded road bike perfect for what I was looking for.
I truly appreciated Jon’s approach to his small business and relations with his customers; it’s immediately obvious that his shop is borne out of a passion for the hobby and sport.
Highly recommend for anything from entry-​level to more advanced products! Thanks Jon!

Ok Unilocalers listen if you want to get a great bike and meet a no pressure all around great sales man come to Plenty of Bikes. This is truly a 5 star place. Jon dosent try to sell you something you don’t need like other stores will. He spends time showing you different models and sizes. The one thing that really made an impression with me was he listen to my needs and pointed me at the correct type of bike to meet my needs not the most expensive one in the shop. Even if you don’t need to buy a bike come by for your other biking needs, tires and so on. Highly recommend this shop.

I went with my wife to a few different bike shops in long beach and was very disappointed with the lack of customer service as she is a novice rider and had plenty of questions.
After spending a whole day looking for bikes and not being able to find the right place we decided to check out Unilocal.That was a very good decision because we found Plenty Of Bikes who had great reviews.
Jon was very knowledgable and patient. He took his time to explain the different types of bikes, he understood our needs and purpose for the bikes and showed us a variety of bikes that actually matched our needs. He was in no way a pushy salesman, he was more like a bike expert. Needless to say We found the perfect bike at an unbelievable price and I would not consider going anywhere else for any of my biking needs!

I’ll start by saying that i’m a newbie to biking and i was looking for my 1st road bike. I was intimidated by all the different types of bikes, options and prices ! I found Plenty of Bikes online and decided to check them out after visiting several shops. Jon was amazing, has a passion for bikes and knows his stuff, I even called him on a Sunday when they are closed and he answered and answered all my questions. He guided me thru different options and helped me choose my first road bike! He has a small shop so it permits him to keep prices low.
