i would give no stars if that were an option. as i type this, this is the day 2. they were to arrive yesterday at 8am. they showed up at 10 AFTER i had to contact ryan to find out where they were. then they showed up with a 26 ft truck for a furniture move taking place IN THE SAME OFFICE. the contract even said w/​in the same suite. julio’s and ryan’s excuse was that sometimes their customers change their minds :-/​so that move didn’t happen because there was no reservation on the loading dock and nowhere to park a 26ft truck near CAPITOL HILL! ryan assured me that they would be here at 7:30, it’s 9:30 and i JUST heard from julio who said he’s 10 minutes out.
as a faithful Unilocaler, i came here first and couldn’t find them. i will do my due diligence the next time, to search better as i see others vehemently discourage from using this company. i will say that bookstore movers contacted me quickly trying to rectify this situation but could not fulfill at the last minute. i will certainly use them for our bigger office move in a couple of months.

The con artist I spoke to is David and I was FOOLISH enough to actually think he had my families best interest at heart. I moved on ¹¹⁄₈ and was reassured that my things would be delivered in 6 – 8 business days. It’s ¹¹⁄₂₃ and I’m still on the floor and what’s crazy… I’m 13 hours from Maryland !!!
I too received the news of a «broken» down truck in NC and was told that a new truck would be leaving Friday. I have missed out on 2 flights home waiting on lies. They turn the phones off after a certain time, no one is EVER at the customer service desk.
I’m completely floored as to how they treat our soldiers and military wives and families. Dispatch (Ryan) is merely a puppet to whoever is pulling his strings. Countless reports have been filed at the BBB and it is my hope that this company goes under.
They hide behind the DOT 21 business days rule, and don’t look for a phone call back either. This review is written as someone who is quietly suffering behind this company’s SEVERE lack of customer service. Run…
Oh, by the way if you call and complain they will send you to some moving site for reviews which had stellar feedback. Clearly written by the company, I was told that they were targeted because of not advertising with Unilocal.

I can provide proof of their trickery. I’m BEGGING you, we are all not wrong.

I should have read the reviews prior to booking them. They were schedule to be there between 10 – 11. They did not show up until 1230 pm after I made numerous attempt to call them. When they got there, I was told that it would be more than what was originally quoted but they could not tell me how much more. Not use them. The driver was rude !!

This company is literally horrible. I would give 0 stars as well if that were an option. They promised me delivery on a certain date and several days later, I am still waiting (and the move is only a 12-​hour drive). They also quoted me an estimate that is about 30% off the amount they charged me, and they were an entire day late on the pick up and did not bother to call and tell me that they would be late until 20 minutes prior to the anticipated arrival time.
My experience could not be worse. I worked with a man named Avi, who is intentionally dishonest and misleading. He made all kinds of promises and then once he got my money and furniture he stopped communicating with me. Their business model is unethical and they should be shut down. They have broke all three promises that induced me to hire them (date of pick up, cost estimate and date of delivery). They will promise the world and deliver nothing. Customer service means nothing to them. Their business model is to say anything to get your money and furniture and then completely ignore the customer and hold on to the materials until the last day in the contractual period (in my case, they have now had my items over a week and my destination is only a 12-​hour drive from the pickup).

Be smarter than I was and read reviews online prior to your move and chossing ABS. I contacted them because a friend had «heard» from them. It was for a move from East coast to Wets coast. When I contacted them, they were EXTREMELY pleasant and helpful and would contact me on a regular basis until I agreed to hire them. I did. They gave me a very good quote for shipping my stuff and we went with movers instead of a pod because it was cheaper… from what they had told me. Now the day of the move, a rental truck from Entreprise showed up with three very nice gentlemen, but that I suspect may have not been «legal workers». They moed our stuff and at the end the price had jumped three times, YES THREE times from the original price! But with stress and having to empty the house that day, we did not have any other choice. My very nice sales man had told me that my stuff will be delivered ten days from that day, well make it a whole month!!! and during that time, impossible to get a hold of them and when I did they would say they would call back and never would. Finally, on a Sunday at 3pm the driver calls me and said he will deliver my stuff that evening! I said no, we were in the middle of a huge rain storm and left with no power. They came the next day. Again, the crew was very nice but a bit shaddy. The driver asked that we pay the remaining of the money cask so he could keep the business rolling!!! Seriously! Mu husband was very mad at me for finding these people and I was/​still is very mad at myself for hirring them. DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!

We used ABS Moving to move from Arlington, VA to Palo Alto, CA. We were originally going to just get a POD but then decided to look elsewhere for cheaper options. We were quoted around $ 1,000 originally but after reading reviews I found that normally the quote was 2−3x under what it would actually be. We ended up paying about $ 3,800 which included them packing up our two tv’s and a couple other boxes. This price was still slightly cheaper than PODs and they packed up the truck and unpacked it upon delivery.
So our stuff got picked up and we were told during the original call that they could just ship everything out to California and upon us giving them an address they would deliver it. I specifically asked about this because this is an option that POD had an we were unsure of our exact address at the time.
About a month went by and we finally found a place to live. I called ABS to give them my address and was told that the truck was on it’s way and was in Utah. A couple days later I was told that my stuff hadn’t left DC yet because they didn’t have an address and couldn’t ship anything without a final destination. I told them that’s not was I was originally told but «they’ve been in the business for 15 years and that’s not something that any mover does.» Bullshit.
So we had to wait another couple weeks before our stuff came. Any time I would call ABS they would either say they were going to call me back and never call back or they would just tell me to call the driver. The driver obviously never answered the phone and it was a very frustrating process to figure out when our stuff would actually come. When our stuff FINALLY arrived our bookshelf was broke so the driver said he wasn’t even going to unload it and our 50 inch tv was broke.
I filed a claim which required a photo and 2 written quotes for a fix and then said I would hear back in 60 days. At 60 days when I didn’t hear back I called and no one could tell me anything. Eventually someone said that a check was going to be sent to our CA address and should it expect it shortly after Thanksgiving. When the check didn’t arrive I called back and emailed them. I’ve called at least once every other week since Thanksgiving and have emailed them once a month.
One time someone said they would cancel the first check and resend another the following week. That check never came either. Now when I call Abi says he told Mark (apparently the only person who writes checks and is NEVER in the office) to contact me so there’s nothing else he can do…
So…DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Spend the extra money and go with a legit company like PODS or ABF or move things yourself. This company is absolutely horrible, unprofessional, and sketchy. All of the reviews on their site are false. No company gets 5 stars across the board, not even Apple.
Update:
2÷10÷12: Called again because I still haven’t heard from Mark or received a check. Abi said it’s just bad luck that I can’t catch Mark when he’s in the office and to try back until I reach him. I said I’ve been trying to reach him since November and he said that there’s nothing he can do because Mark is in charge and doesn’t have a set schedule of when he’s in the office.

Total rip off!!! Extremely poor service. F rating with BBB. I contracted them for a move from Charllote, Nc to Boston, MA. After getting what seemed to be a reasonable quote based on the amount of items I had, I decided to go with them. Everything seemed fine until the day of the pick up. Once everything was on their truck, the driver told me I had a lot more stuff than was anticipated, so they basically doubled the price from $ 1.5k to almost $ 3k. They do not follow DOT regulations, such as informing you of additional weight charges prior to loading the stuff, or properly weighing your items in a certified scale. In essence, they give you a non-​binding estimate with an overestimated weight, but they make no intentions to actually weigh your items and proceed as if they’re dealing with a flat rate contract. It took them 35 days to make the delivery, and in the end they ended up subcontracting to another company. Most of my stuff was extremely damaged.
