Adventures with Robots is on a mission. We aim to bring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to more kids at an earlier age, and we want to make STEM irresistibly FUN, like it should be.

Since our founding in September 2010, we’ve taught more than 1,000 kids in the metro D.C. area how to write their first programs. Through our Young Engineers class, we’re introducing students to the basics of structural engineering and physics. Through Crime Science, we’ve taught more than 100 kids how to use microscopes and other equipment to conduct simple experiments to forensic evidence.

In addition to leading after-school and evening science clubs for elementary school students at their schools, we also offer at-cost classes to students who are residents of low-income housing communities managed by Montgomery Housing Partnership.

Hooray Adventures with Robots!
Both of our children, a 7 yr. old girl and a 12 yr. old boy, have participated in their programs and loved their Adventures With Robots classes!
The instructors were kind, intelligent, friendly and made each session fun. The registration process was as smooth as can be and the follow-up by staff as to what the kids learned to do that week — simply amazing. These are some very thoughtful people!
Instructors/Session leaders were very attentive to each child and took extra care to ensure that all of the students were catching on. Very much appreciated as one of my kids has a mild learning disability. Nearly everyone, both kids and parents alike, loved the program!

Very unprofessional company.
We don’t have comments on this company’s services because we didn’t end up using them in the first place. Here’s why:
I purchased a robotics party from this company for my son’s birthday in Living Social in February. I confirmed the appointment for the August party with them on March 14.
On June 18 – three months later, they wrote to inform me that they could not lead the event at our house because their «standard review» revealed that there was too much crime in our neighborhood. (This is Takoma, DC, where the neighborhood kids play outside every day in summer, well into the evening.)
They wanted us to rent a DC rec center for the party – rec centers, that is, that have no security at all and very questionable safety. Example: I’ve observed drug deals and heavy pot smell at one DC rec center and decided that our kids were SAFER not visiting it.
There is no mention of this safety policy or practice in the company’s Living Social deal or in their website.
So beware: Unless you live in a totally safe neighborhood (is there one?), you may be in for additional, unadvertised expenses, if you book a party with them.
