Very good food that is freshly cooked every time. Delivery may take a little time, but food is delivered within the timeframe and hot.

They decided to ban me all because my sister bang the door on me and I slammed it. Their food isn’t as good because one day, my family got food poisoning from it and it wasn’t a good time. If they think they have the right to do this to me, then I suggest you people to not come here. It’s really a shitty restaurant IMO.

I found a piece of hair in my shrimp with garlic sauce. I’m never ordering from there again. And the boneless spareribs tasted funny, can’t quite put my finger on it.

The Food is great, the service? Not so much. I just placed an order online for them with an advanced delivery time. They called me an hour before the scheduled delivery and told me they were waiting downstairs. I told the delivery guy that he was an hour before a requested delivery time and he didn’t seem to understand. I said I would accept the food begrudgingly and then planned to file a complaint with the delivery service. When I got downstairs he was nowhere to be found. So I called the restaurant who told me that the 6:20 time was a «Deliver By» time. I explained that an hour early isn’t an acceptable«early delivery» and the response was simply«Do you want the food or not.» Considering the driver wasn’t anywhere near my apartment, I couldn’t exactly accept any delivery. I might consider ordering from them again, but definitely not for delivery. I’d consider a pickup at most, but I can easily find other Chinese with better customer service closer to home.

Fried Chicken wings and homemade iced tea were good. The rest, was tolerable at best. Heavy and really not flavorful the house fried rice.

It was too cold to venture outside and pick up lunch, so a few of my co workers decided to order take out. I was given their menu by the delivery man months ago, they have a large variety of lunch specials so we placed a large order and hoped for the best. The food took 45 min to arrive, the driver called me totally confused about how to get to the floor we were on ?!? take the elevator lol! Sad to say no one liked their food, and most of the dishes were your basic chicken and brocoli?!? The food was bland, room temperture and left a funny taste in our mouth. I hate leaving bad reviews but we will not be ordering from them place again. Weeks after ordering we were still talking about how bad the food was.

We ordered steamed meat dumplings, wonton soup, kung pao beef, and pork with string beans. The dumplings and wonton soup were good. The meat in the two main dishes was inedible. Very low quality and the sauces were bland and not the normal flavors for these two dishes. I requested and paid extra for brown rice, but they delivered white rice. Bad food, poor customer service. I will not be ordering again or recommending to anyone.

Everything I have tried here has been fantastic. I especially like the House Special Lo Mein, General Tsos Chicken and dumplings. I have food allergies which include msg, shellfish and other things. Hunan City is very accommodating in preparing dishes sans the things I can’t eat. Delivery is always fast and courteous. A great choice for Chinese food!!!

So after reading the reviews last night, I decided to try this place and I think I understand why what people saying varies so much. The sauce for the orange chicken was great and the gravy for the shrimp egg foo yong was also decent, but the food was pretty awful. Reason: Old oil and a dirty fryer. I used to work in a catering hall and recognized the flavor immediately. If you happen to get lucky and get a day with fresh oil and a clean fryer, I’m guessing your food would be really tasty. Last night was not my lucky night. :-(

We tried Hunan City this week, as part of our ongoing quest to find good delivery Chinese food in the Silver Spring /Four Corners area. Overall, we were not wow’ed, but it wasn’t bad. We’ll keep looking for better, but it’s perfectly passable. The menu is for the most part basic Americanized Chinese — no surprises here. They have the usual chicken, beef, pork and shrimp standards, and several duck options, but no lamb, and the only fish seems to be deep-fried fish-and-chips. They also offer a few types of sub sandwich, and chicken wings. The food: the biggest winners were the appetizers. Egg rolls were big, hearty, and flavorful, and not excessively greasy. Fried meat dumplings were slightly doughy but the filling was quite tasty and the sauce was delicious. Egg drop soup was good, and wonton soup — though the wontons were also a touch doughy — was nevertheless very nice. Entrees were less successful. Chicken with garlic sauce was sliced in heavy, thick chunks that seemed tough and overcooked. The moo goo gai pan had vegetables that seemed undercooked, and the sauce was rather too heavy and corn-starchy for my taste. The house combination fried rice was OK, though a little greasy. We ate the entrees and rice — they weren’t so bad as to need to be thrown out — but I’d be unlikely to order those items again. Best features: They offer pint-sized entrée servings even at dinner time, which is unusual in this area — so it’s easy to order several things to share. Portion sizes were generous, and prices were quite low(though I’d have gladly paid more for more successful entrees). They let you substitute any sort of fried rice as the companion to your entrée, which is nice. And ordering is quick, easy, and tremendously customizable though their website. They’re open late, by suburban standards(11pm weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturday). Delivery is free, and was what appears to be fast for this area(30 minutes), and the driver was very couteous. So, overall, not bad. I’d try them again, though I’ll try other places first.

This is an excellent American Chinese place. I eat here at least twice a month, and it’s great. It’s open late. Prices are reasonable, dishes are fresh, have a lot of veggies, and are usually not too oily. The meat, seafood, and vegetable dishes are all great. Their chicken, pork, beef, and shrimp are all marinated, flavorful, and tender. In my experience, you can’t go wrong with the dishes on the ‘special’ menu. I order the mu shu pork all the time. The only slightly negative things I can say is that they don’t have the ‘authentic’ mu shu pancakes, but the filling is delicious and plentiful. Also anything listed as spicy is only mildly spicy. People are really nice, and they have a nice selection of light beer.

This is a very solid Chinese delivery place and probably going to become my go to place for Chinese delivery in the silver spring area. The prices are reasonable and the food arrives still hot. The crab Rangoon are very tasty and you get 10 big ones per order which is awesome. They could almost be a meal by themselves. While none of their other dishes particularly stand out to me in any way, they are tasty enough. I especially like their shrimp dishes. One drawback is that the food can be a bit bland and delivery to me takes almost a whole hour– and they are less than a mile from me. Other than that though this is solid food.

My fav Chinese delivery place in the Silver Spring area. The food is yummy and the portions are big and not expensive. I’m a vegetarian and they have a big selection for us! They have never messed up an oder for me. The delivery drivers are always really nice and the wait time for delivery isn’t any longer than any other place. I also love that you can place the order online– so easy!

Oh, yikes. Now I get the bad reviews. Maybe it depends on the day? I had success the first time, so I ordered again yesterda, again through GrubHub. This time I ordered the Singapore mei fun(I asked for it a little spicier), a soda, and steamed dumplings(meat). It arrived again quickly, the same delivery guy who was friendly. But the food was pretty terrible. The shrimp were mushy, the noodles were broken up and overcooked(so they were mushy, too), and the dough on the dumplings hadn’t been properly mixed and needed – you could taste the roasted flour. I ate a little bit, but ended up throwing the rest away; I really hate wasting food, but it tasted really off and I didn’t want to risk it. Too late – I ended up getting really sick afterwards. Terrible! I wish I knew why it was so good on one day and so bad on another day. We’ve had some power outages in the area after the big storm, and I HOPE that they didn’t hang on to bad food. Whatever the reason, if the quality of the food is s as widely variable as this, I’m going to give it a pass.

I ordered because they provide free delivery. Then I read some of the reviews and was a little worried. However, the food turned out to be pretty good. I ordered chicken lo mein and peking duck. Both were quite tastey. I would order again for sure. And they were quick to deliver on a rainy night, faster than they said they would be.

Really good, cheap food. Easy ordering, Inexpensive, Delivered on time and order was correct! Lo mein, General’s Chicken, yummy! I might have to order again tonight because writing this review is making me hungry! Update: Still love Hunan City! In 1 year they never messed up our order and were always on time(sometimes he would even show up apologizing for being late and he was early!) Love them!

We were hankerin’ for some Chinese food last night, so we started looking around to see what we could find. I saw the relatively good reviews for this place, realized that they delivered to our area, and decided to give them a try. Let’s go through the bag full of disappointment one dish at a time. Vegetable spring rolls — these weren’t too bad; a little greasy(a common problem), but overall they were oko. Fried dumplings: I thought they were ok – my wife thought they were awful. Not enough flavor. Crab Rangoon:(ok, I admit it, I like crab rangoon, though they’re about as chinese as I am — sue me). The flavor was ok, but the wrapper wasn’t crispy at all. This is probably just the result of sitting in their own steam while out for delivery, but… So, here we are, having had some appetizers, and so far we’re thinking«eh, not too bad». Now things take a turn for the worse. Spicy green beans: What, did they pick beans from last year? This beans were so overmature that the outside was like solid fiber, and the beans themselves were hard(sort of like edamame, which I love). The flavor of the sauce was ok, but the texture of these ancient beans was so bad I found the whole thing inedible. Szechuan Bean Curd: Bland bland bland. I thought that this was apretty easy dis to put together, but man, the flavor just wasn’t there. It didn’t quite rank as inedible, but I didn’t save the leftovers. General Tso’s Chicken: Ok, I love General Tso’s, in almost all of its forms, but here’s the exception. This is one of the most popular dishes from this place? Really? The chicken was overcooked to the point where it had roughly the same texture as plywood. I had to spit out a couple of pieces of meat because they were so overcooked that I couldn’t chew them. Yikes. Now, I’ve seen that before, but what I haven’t seen is a sauce like that, outside of a ketchup bottle. Really. I mean, I’m used to a sweet & sour, spicy, gingery sauce, and it really tasted more like ketchup. That’s just sad. So, you ask yourself, why did I even given them two stars? Well, I didn’t hate the appetizers, and I didn’t just throw everything away, so it’s not so bad as to only get one star from me. Still, my search for some decent chinese food in the Takoma Park vicinity will continue. Total, pre-tip was about $ 31, which I thought was reasonable. Delivery time was quoted as 30 – 45 minutes, it took nearly an hour. A bit long, but I’m not too fussed about that.

Worst chinese dish I’ve ever had. Ordered the kung pao chicken(simple dish — ingredients are 95% chicken, 4% peanuts, 1% other), but rather than getting normal kung pao I got some disgusting combination of root vegetable fillers with minimal amount of chicken and peanuts. It was such an obvious attempt to rip me off and just give me a bowl full of celery and celery root and charge me as if I was handed a real meal. To top it off, they ripped me off of the free spring roll that was suppose to be included for order over X amount. Absolutely terrible.

After searching delivery spots in my area(in DC on the border of Silver Spring) for an hour and being disappointed in both the menus and the minimum delivery charges of most — $ 20!!! — I stumbled upon the reviews of this place. I wanted a protein fix and quickly settled on the meat on a stick ahem and the General Tsos Wings. Seriously my 2 fav things — wings and tsos sauce yeeeessss. Minimum delivery is $ 12 which is doable for one person and there were 10 wings — yes 10 — to an order. I also got a pint of brown rice. Food came in 40 minutes — not super fast but exactly when they promised — and the deliveryman was very nice. Also, for $ 13 and some change I now have leftovers for tomorrow. Will DEF order from this place again!
