Kaizen Karate specializes in providing youth programs in KARATE, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), YOGA, and SUMMER CAMP for children between the ages of 3.5 — 12yrs old. Classes are offered in MD, DC, and Northern VA areas 7-​days a week.

History

Established in 2003.

Kaizen Karate has been offering instruction and training in the martial arts since 2003. Through intense study of karate for over 24 years, Coach V helps develop students to their fullest potential physically and mentally. Located throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia Kaizen Karate has produced well-​rounded students of the martial arts as well as exemplary citizens.

The head instructor, Viran Ranasinghe, or «Coach V» and other highly trained martial artists offer a number of programs for students aging from 5 – 65 years old. They focus on discipline and encouragement in a fun-​loving environment. Their main goal is to help everyone progress, continually improve, and enjoy the process.

Our daughter has been attending classes at Kaizen Karate for 5 years and loves it. She trains primarily with Coach Chris on Monday nights and he is just wonderful. Coach V is also great and their summer camp staff is strong as well. These folks have unlocked a passion in my child which I know will be with her for years and I’m very grateful for their continued work with her. Their ability to bring out the best in students of all ages and aptitude levels is particularly impressive to me. If you or your child are interested in martial arts training, take a trial class and I bet you’ll be hooked.

Coach V is a wonderful role model for our boys. He is rigorous about karate but also teaches discipline, perseverance, respect for yourself and others, and (as the Kaizen Karate motto says) continuous improvement. This is the one extracurricular activity that we are always sure to accommodate in our schedules.

I have tried to register my 4 kids with Kaizen Karate since 2012 fall. I have heard such good thing about them and the instructors. Whenever I tried to go to their website I felt I am signing up for a high level security job. The online registration system is far most the difficult for after school sign ups. I like to do my things online. It is much easier for me to pull my records. I had my kids in one week Kaizen camp. I was told they don’t take checks by a gentlemen. I paid by phone with their office staff. I received a flyer and PTA ask me to write a check. I believe they are still old school with online registration. If they would consider upgrading I would return and refer other families.

My 8-​year old has been taking classes with Kaizen Karate for 3 years. He has also attended several weeks at their summer camp each summer. During that time, we have interacted with a number of the coaches — and are continually impressed. Coach Viran («V») is an extraordinary man — who is able to capture the attention of dozens of school age children. Our son is learning discipline and focus — and loving every minute of it. We recently moved — and were excited to see that while we had to switch coaches, we could still continue with Kaizen Karate in our new neighborhood.
