Maryland Youth Ballet

I love this studio! Inspiring accompanists (Levon and Arshak are my faves), high quality teachers (Julie Miles is awesome) and great studio spaces. I am so glad that I started coming here and have really seen my technique improve since I started studying there. They had a wonderful adult intensive weekend this summer as well that was fun and a great learning experience.
I love MYB and highly recommend it as a wonderful place to learn and an equally great community.

I love the classes here. I took ballet growing up and wanted to start again as an adult. Maryland Youth Ballet offers drop-​in classes for adults 7 days a week and I am able to find classes at my level (beginner) that fit into my busy schedule. The instructors are great and really friendly as are the other students. Classes can get crowded though. There is no need to be intimidated if you are a beginner. Students come in all ages, shapes and sizes.

This company is the way to go for ballet lessons!!! It’s not just a fun cute little class you take for fun. Nope! This is a serious school dedicated to learning and honing an art. The teachers are diligent about discipline and excellence! I love how many programs and activities are offered throughout the year. Makes it fun for my dtr to interact with her ballet teacher and friends outside of class. One word of advice would to sign your child up for an entire year of classes and have the funds auto-​debited from your account. That ensures you get the class you want on the day/​time u want with the teacher you want. The one thing I don’t like is that there is no «recital”/performance for the younger kids. I would love to see some sort of short show at the end of each session.

Pilates — all levels.
I had my second class today. I’ve done pilates elsewhere and haven’t found an instructor as good as Roberta. She is very knowledgable and I can’t wait to go back!

Adult Beginning Ballet II.
I wasn’t going to do this. I wasn’t going to take lessons from more than one studio. I’m not that kind of girl!
Or so I told myself. Even as I regularly checked MYB’s adult drop-​in schedule.
Wandering eyes led me to the studio today and, I will be going back. But I will also keep going to WB-​S. I know I am a tramp, but WB’s one Beginner class a week just isn’t enough for me.
OK, let me be honest. If my work schedule permitted, this would be my regular studio. If your work schedule allows you to get over there by 7.15 pm (and it is walking distance from SS Metro), guess what? You are fresh out of excuses not to take ballet lessons. And did I mention, the 1^st lesson is free.
I found the BBII class roughly equivalent to WBs Beginner. Again, it was not an easy class. I really liked the teacher and student ages ran the gamut of the word adult.
If asked which studio I would recommend, I would not. I like both for different reasons.

I really enjoyed the drop-​in classes I took here: floor barre and Pilates. Great instruction and great attention from the teachers who spotted my movement strengths and weaknesses with an expert eye.
Both those classes really compliment my other athletic pursuits: lifting, running and swimming. Floor barre gets every little muscle and tendon with very precise, controlled, small movements that are safe. And, well, a good Pilates class just can’t be beat because if you aren’t keeping your core engaged no matter which athletic endeavor you choose, you greatly increase your chances of injury. I’d recommend these classes to anyone.
Oh, and there were really fun, too! We laughed a lot in class. Heck, I am even tempted to take ballet again!

My daughter takes lessons here. She loves it and her teachers. Just went to their Mini Nut performance (shorter version of The Nutcracker without the «scary» parts) and it was awesome! Perfect for little ones like mine.

check out Lisae’s stretch class — very knowledgeable, open and welcoming. all different levels and ages (and body types!). and she plays old jazz standards during class. it’s really a mind and body centering experience and I felt great afterwards. Mondays at noon or Wednesday evenings at 7:15. best of all for my crazy schedule, it’s totally walk in.

I am a very late beginner for adult ballet and traveled couple of ballet schools in Washington metropolitan area. This dance school is by far the best one I have ever been to. Very professional and experienced ballet teachers with levels of classes to fit anyone’s challenge. Despite of the levels, all of the ballet classes are 90 minutes long which tells me how serious the school is toward adult ballet. The location of studio is convenient, near Silver Spring metro and Sliver Spring Downtown center.
And the decoration is absolutely wonderful. High ceilings, bright lighten room, whole mirror wall, solid even floor, just looks like 5 star dance studio, it cheers me up every time when I went in. The most importantly, every adult class comes with live piano music, there is even a grand piano for one of the adult class. What more can I ask for!!!

I took a couple adult drop in classes here and was really impressed with the teachers. The studio is very professional and they have live accompaniment for the ballet classes. Classes are also offered in floor barre, stretch, and pilates. They have a couple studios and they are all pretty large.
The focus is on youth training, which I cannot comment on directly, but the oodles of kids/​teens running around in leotards seemed pretty happy.
