Pawz For Health In Home Dog Training Maryland, provides in home dog training throughout the Maryland area. We travel to the homes of clients providing them with simple yet effective dog training techniques to address their dog behavior training needs. We use positive reinforcement dog training methods. We work with behavior problems such as: jumping, biting/nipping, separation anxiety, aggression around other dogs, aggression around food, aggression around people, destructive behavior, leash walking, not pulling on leash, off leash walking, coming when called, obedience (sit/down/stay/off/leave it/drop it/come when called/not dashing out the front door. We provide leadership training for your dog without punishment! We help you create the dog you really would love him or her to be.

We offer Adult Programs and Puppy Programs as well as Behavior Modification consultations…

History

Established in 1995.

Pawz For Health In Home Dog Training was established to work with families providing in home dog training and puppy training. Using positive reinforcement dog training techniques we work with behaviors such as: Puppy training, house breaking, dogs jumping, dog aggression, leash walking, crate training, basic manners, jumping on furniture, dashing out the door (door manners) come when called (recall). Working with any breed, any age and any behavior.

I have been a dog trainer for over 10 years, working closely with local animal rescue groups. I am currently offer some of my time to the Washington Animal Rescue League as a Behavior and Training Specialist. I am a Certified Training Professional through CCPDT, I am a professional member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers). I am an AKC, CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Evaluator.

I owner 4 of my own dogs and x2 parrots.

My goal for my in home dog training business is to help pet owners with dog behavior problems work through these problems so they are able to enjoy their dog and not surrender to a shelter.

We had a wonderful time working with Janet and our 1 year old clumber spaniel, Carlton. In the short time we worked together we went from a crazy puppy to a very well-behaved puppy. We are very pleased with our results and the care and dedication that Janet gave us. Would highly recommend.

Janet O. is a life saver! Our Phoebe is a highly reactive rescue. We hadn’t had any house guests in the several months since we adopted her for fear that she would go off on them. When walking Phoebe, we were always on a tense high alert to give other people and dogs a wide berth. My wife and I were going crazy. Fortunately, we found Pawz For Health. Phoebe’s been a hard case. Janet O. uses only positive reinforcement, which has been great for Phoebe; I think negative reinforcement like shock collars would have just made her mean and would have been counterproductive. We still need to keep a eye out (she’s still in training), but Phoebe’s like a different dog now, and our lives are completely different, too. She’s relaxed at home and on walks, calmer and happier. We can have people over because she’s more confident and Janet O. taught us techniques to introduce people to her. In short, using Janet O.‘s positive reinforcement-only approach, our lives are so much better. We highly recommend Janet O. at Pawz for Health!

Thank goodness for Pawz for Health! Janet’s work goes above & beyond mere training; this positive-reinforcement system is nothing less than behavior therapy for any reactive, anxious dog. I thought my ultra-high-strung Jack Russell/Blue Heeler mix, rescued at a little less than one year old, was beyond hope in terms of ever warming her up to strangers. We used to live in an apartment complex, where just walking her down the hallway or out for a potty break filled me with anxiety because my dog barked, lunged and snarled at literally anyone who looked at her. Although we still have work ahead of us, Janet’s logical & cheerful instruction has turned my dog’s fear into curiosity and turned our daily walks from frightening chores to happy adventures.
