The office can accommodate 15 staffers but only 5 people work there to process SS applications. Completely backwards considering there are 100s of people waiting everyday. Inefficient, hot and time consuming.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. These people are complete morons. 2 ½ hrs of waiting with over a hundred other people in a small room with numbers being called maybe every ten mins. They have no idea what they are doing and they don’t care. The woman I worked with literally threw my daughters birth certificate back at me and said «that don’t prove yo daughter is yo daughter, ain’t ya got sumthin with her name on it like some mail» she’s 11 months you idiot. These people could not be more inept and the worst part is, they don’t care that they are awful. If you have to go here, bring Netflix, it’ll be awhile

I had read the reviews for other offices and was apprehensive of my visit. But the Silver Spring office was a pleasant surprise. The gentleman at the sign in counter was very friendly and courteous. So was the person who served me at the counter. The entire office seemed to be very efficient, as the numbers progressed faster than I had expected. There was a room full of people, but I was in and out of the office in less than an hour (including the time to wait in line for check in)!! The person at the counter stressed that I need to check my address as I was getting a new SS card. I had gone around 9 AM just prior to the Christmas holidays, so a low turnout might have helped with the quick service.
