Dr. Karen Randall was absolutely perfect. I called her to talk about my dog’s situation, the last stages of liver cancer, not eating, etc., and she spoke to me in the most kind and clear, understanding way about the reality of our situation. She helped me to understand what was really going on, because whenever I spoke with the oncologists, I never came away with a clear understanding of what to do or what exactly Birdy needed. My beloved Birdy was handled in the most professional, gentle, loving way, to ease her transition into doggie heaven, in her favorite place surrounded by everything she loves. Thank you Karen. I spent about a week looking for a house call veterinarian because one of the cats was down to the last of his many lives and I wanted him euthanatized where he lived. A street cat, he had been to a veterinarian’s office exactly three times so was hardly a fan of the car, the carrier, the office, the vet, other cats, dogs, etc.
Solace was the first to respond promptly (same day, and not an email auto-​response!) and the first who could handle an appointment in less than three or four days. All of the other vets contacted also do «regular» pet care visits and were booked.
I knew what I had in mind for the little guy’s last moments and Dr Randall complemented it perfectly. It could not have gone better with a Hollywood effects budget– golden Fall morning, gentle breeze, peace and quiet while sitting outside where the cat lived nearly every minute of his twelve years– plus we got a veterinarian that seems to have honed a sweet routine for such a difficult visit.
At home veterinary care is becoming more common and end-​of-​life options for our pets are similarly expanding. I highly recommend Dr Randall and the excellent service Solace offers.
